  1. The group cuddle photo is lovely - Banshee looks like she has always been a member of your crew
  2. I used to give the dogs frozen chicken necks and sometimes lamb riblets when we lived in the tropics, with no problems.
  3. So sorry for your loss. Bobby must have been a very special boy.
  4. Such an awful thing to have happen in your own backyard, sending healing thought's Tyson's way. His owners must be beside themselves. When I was 7, my mum and I were attacked by 2 GSD's that broke through a timber fence. It was a terrifying experience, one I'll never forget.
  5. RIP Magnus and all the other doggies - run free together at the bridge
  6. Townsville Bulletin article May 13th, 2010 A MAN died after a horrific head-on crash south of Cardwell yesterday as his uninjured faithful blue heeler, Bundy, wandered around aimlessly looking for its master. The accident closed the Bruce Highway for six hours. Cardwell man Graham Rae, 66, was killed after colliding head-on with a 19-year-old female P-plater about 7.30am near Damper Creek. Initial police investigations suggest the P-plater, from Cannonvale near Airlie Beach, had tried to overtake a semi-trailer while travelling north on the Bruce Highway. Emergency crews were tending to Mr Rae's blue heeler, which had been found at the scene. The dog was taken to Cardwell police station while authorities searched for a relative who might be able to take care of him. However, an Ingham paramedic, who took care of the dog at the scene, has agreed to look after him if an owner cannot be found. The woman was flown to Townsville Hospital with a fractured pelvis, wrist and ankle. How sad for Bundy - but amazing he survived, and for the paramedic who has offered him a home!
  7. What about this little one? Although she will need some grooming: http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=195847
  8. There is another article which says the family doesn't know whether the dog was attacked in their yard or elsewhere Poor little dog. I hope he's not still out in the yard.
  9. Poor Jed and poor doggies , what a terrible tragedy. Will donate what we can. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Jed.
  10. When my little Jessie went to the bridge last year I took her to the vet with no idea that she wouldn't come home again (I didn't have the choice of PTS). I felt really bad for Harry, our other dog, as she did just "disappear", and he did seem to anxiously await her return. I think if I was faced with your decision I would have the vet come to my home. 15 1/2 years of love and companionship is such a wonderful gift, I am sorry that you might have to say goodbye
  11. Council registration usually includes the dogs' breed and name. You know both of these things, that should give the ranger something to work with.
  12. My little scruffer had both his knees done within a 7 month period - it seemed to take much longer for the second one to come good. With Metacam and rest where needed followed by some swimming therapy he is going great. He gets Joint Guard daily as well. 2 years since the last surgery and he's unstoppable; people can't believe he's nearly 8 years old with a history of dodgy knees! I would get some Metacam for him for now, at least until you see the ortho vet. It is really awful seeing them struggle after ops like this - I hope you can get some answers next week
  13. I have used natural yoghurt too, works for cats also.
  14. The other morning I saw some human excrement thoughtfully placed in a McDonalds cup on the footpath. On another occasion we passed a pile that somebody had definitely set fire to. It's definitely human; as Kirislin said - you just know! ;)
  15. We had fibro fences when we moved in here, lattice was attached down one side with screws. Seemed to have worked OK. They had attached the lattice to thicker timber battens and then screwed the battens to the fence.
  16. I don't think it's possible to ensure your yard is tick-free. When we lived in FNQ we had bandicoots visiting our yard which apparently bring paralysis ticks with them.
  17. About 20 years ago our family cat disappeared for a couple of days, returning with a large wound to her abdomen. The vet said it was most likely a stab wound, done deliberately not from a fall or other accidental means. Tough little bugger survived (and lived to 22), but it was an early lesson in keeping cats confined to the indoors or an enclosure.
  18. My vet had a cage with 5 or 6 kittens in it (I assume for rehoming) out in the waiting room last week. Luckily my dog is cat-friendly, but I can see how it would be a problem for some. The kittens seemed a bit stressed from the canine attention also.
  19. I spent all day at work in the aircon - left aircon on at home for dog and cat Just came back from night-time walkies, still 30 degrees at 9pm! Cold shower time (would kill for a pool!)
  20. I think I've met one of those at the off-leash park we go to - funny looking little thing (still a pup), lovely personality though.
  21. There was an article in the local paper about an outbreak in Armadale: Link
  22. A friend woke up hungover in a strange house, went on a search for food and ate half a box of dog chocs before he realised what they were! Probably a lot more palatable than tinned or dry food but still pretty funny :D
  23. Thank you Erny, I am trying to do that as much as I can, he definitely picks up on thoughts/emotions (OH calls him the Mentalist) so I am trying to keep busy and do normal things, for both our sakes. I am sure Jessie and Kal are having a playful wrestle at the Bridge
  24. Thank you everyone for your kind thougts, I am so glad there is a place where I know people understand how I feel.
  25. I am still in shock, and OH is working a long way away from home so I have had to break the news over the phone, needless to say he is devastated also and is heading home ASAP. We have another dog, and I am wondering how he will deal with her loss - they were absolute best buddies, thick as thieves. I'm sure he knows things are not right
