We've tried: Science Diet, Nutrience, Supercoat, Optimum & Iams I use Iams the most but i would say i swap and change dry foods every now and again for a bit of variation. My boy is not fussy at all and will eat any brand!! Want to get him to try some eagle pack next as i've heard people say so many good things, but they aren't as easy to find as other brands!

Oh thats awful.. Poor Boris Best wishes.. i hope your boy will be ok!! -
I have a pug x myself and never rubbed his nose in it when he was a pup. I wasnt really sure about the health issues of doing it, but i just know that if Ben were a human child i wouldn't do that! It's just wrong! He's 11 months old now and has been toilet trained since about 4-5 months old. We found that taking him to where he's supposed to go toilet as often as we could and every time he had an accident, got him trained really quickly!!

i wonder how that would work for mixed breeds then..?

My Dog Just Swallowed The 'wing' From His Duck Toy
krash01 replied to deltron's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hey deltron, i'm going through something very similar at the moment. My 11 month old boy is in the hospital because he swallowed something he shouldn't have Keep a very close eye on him...if he starts vomiting and/or is put off his food and acting lethargic take him to the vet. I hope your little guy is ok!! -
I buy human grade beef mince for my dogs, from the butcher across the street from me. 2kg Beef mince for $10 I usually ask them for some bones too and they give me a plastic bag full for FREE!

My boy Benny loves egg! I crack a whole one in, shell and all in his mince and veg or with sardines...

yep! every dog i've ever fed it to, loves the stuff!!! it is a bit hard to come by though as not all supermarkets stock it :D

Whats Actually In Cheap Tinned Dog Food?
krash01 replied to ncarter's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
You do realise cat food is higher in salt content we use human grade for fish content. Or as we are lucky to live by the sea fresh salmon fillets big hit with the Saint. Your Saint gets fresh salmon fillets??!! WOW! In the city they are a treat for me and my OH as they are sooo expensive!!! -

Offal, offal and more offal YUK! -
I tried a cat litter tray with Benwhen he was a pup but it wouldn't work cause he wouldn't step up into it. I remember trying to look for other contraptions at the time but couldn't find a whole lot so we persisted with the puppy pads indoors and had a square metre of fake grass (which we bought from a hardware store) for his outside toilet, as we have a courtyard. When he got used to going on the fake grass outside, we bought a Pet Loo and my partner put some bricks in front to create steps for him. The only problem with fake grass or the pet loo is you have to be vigilant with cleaning because they will smell if not cleaned regularly. As for getting him to go to the toilet outside, we just kept moving his indoor puppy pad closer to the back door and eventually he learnt that his toilet was outside.

Ben used to do the same thing to me!! The best thing i found, was to prepare his food inside (while he was outside) and then i took his food out, and made him sit before i set his food down. I don't even have to ask him to sit any more!! ;) The key to this sort of thing is persistence..

Best Treat When Rewarding In Training
krash01 replied to nelsona's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Have you tried giving your dog liver treats? You can buy those from the supermarket.. I use those when training my doggies -
Not sure why that is..but i do remember the first time i walked my pup, every couple of minutes he stopped, sat and cried. I suppose it just takes a while for the pup to get the hang of it!! ;)

I actually used the puppy pads with my pup and got him trained quite quickly. He sleeps in the laundry so we had the pad in there also and gradually moved it closer to the back door. Also, when he's inside with us, we'd take him outside about every half hour, take him to his pet loo (cause we don't have any grass) and say "toilet". We've been pad free for quite a few months now (he's 10 months old) and he holds on through the night and hasn't had an accident in a very long time. He'll go to the back door by himself when he needs to go (but he wont bark). I think the key is constantly taking them to the toilet and showing them where they need to go. Hope this is helpful :D Good luck with the training!!
