  1. Puppymum the truth of the matter is its the little dogs that scare the crap out of me!! I find them to be more snappy and unpredictable ! I can read my dogs easily but I never put them in a situation where they have the opportunity to do anything that is not expected from them... One of my girls was attacked by a Chi x Pom when she was 1 and to this day that impacts on her life, she is scared to death of small dogs . My girl did NOT retaliate!! Sad thing was everyone thought this was hilarious Imagine if that was reversed and it had of been my girl that attacked the Chi x ?? Different story no doubt about it !! Now I am left with my beautiful girl who we constantly work with to overcome her fear just to be faced by this dog every week at obedience Beautiful Pics Shel  I also have a Tatt and 4 Bull breeds, does that make me one of those people?? The original pic in this thread depicts to me how I see my Bull Breeds and I feel sorry for those who can't see them for what they truly are EFS
  2. Thats magic!!! Also the reason I didn't get my dogs when my kids were little ... Just not safe for the dog!!!
  3. Have heard only good things about using Rescue remedy in dogs. Would like to try it but am unsure how much you would give I'd be giving it to a 26kg dog.
  4. I just found this thread and just finished reading it ... So glad for Fred and you that he recieved such a great outcome Fred sure is one lucky fella to have you in his life, I wish you and Fred many happy and healthy years together he deserves it
  5. One of our girls use to do this and we worked out it was an anxiety thing with her . As much as we tried to block of the bedrooms there was always the odd time we forgot to shut a door. We worked on ways of reducing anxiety in her , we noticed it was mainly when she was left alone , or someone new came to the house ,any change that she couldn't anticipate. We stopped acknowleging when she had an accident and within a few months she just stopped doing it , although it took us a while to figure it all out !! Building up her confidence we got there and haven't looked back. We had moved house 4 times in 18 months so this had a big effect on her. Have you moved house or made any other changes to life the way that he knew it? Of course this is my experience and it always pays to get a vets advice it could also be a UTI, her pushing to see what she can get away with or any number of things.. Good Luck
  6. Run free pretty girl knowing u were loved so much :D RIP Mahli
  7. Been using Bonnie here for about the last 8 months .. $40 for 20kgs works out really cheap for us with 4 dogs . My guys are on a mainly raw diet although they all love their cereal (bonnie) in the morning All of the furkids are doing great on it and we are always getting comments on how healthy they look and what great conditon they are in
  8. My girl is now 51/2 and started about 9 -12 months ago. The tablets I have are from the chemist and I started her on them when she was on the antibiotics. The inner health capsules would be to help her bowel...sometimes they can get a gut problem like diarrea(?sp) I just use protexin all the time now. I've never heard about dogs with HD getting more UIT's but I suppose it could happen What is protexin? Where do you get it from? Sorry for all the questions I'm just trying to get my head around all of this The vet said that UTI's are more common in dogs with HD as when the dog is sore it tends to get up less to go to the toilet as it know it will hurt so they tend to hold on for longer causing more problems.
  9. I wasn't able to get a urine sample from her (boy did I try! ) My vet was ok with that and used a needle to try and get urine straight from her bladder but wasn't able to get anything at all which made him more confident in diagnosing a UTI. She is on antibiotics and we will see how she responds to them and go from there. Also have you noticed if she is drinking more/less? My girl is hardly drinking much at all and I am having to try and encourage her to drink more.
  10. Sounds a bit like what has been happening with my girl . I took her to the vet today and she was diagnosed with a UTI. How is your girl otherwise is she weeing normallly apart from when she is sleeping? My girl is having trouble passing urine and then seems to really have to go only to be doing as small amount. Good luck with the vet hope it all works out for you
  11. Wow! Thanks everyone for all the feedback .. sounds like Cranberry tablets are the way to go ! Now do i start her on them while she is on the antibiotics or do I wait till she has finished the course? Are they just ones that you get from the chemist? Do I just break it and tip it on her food? Someone also said I should give her some inner health plus capsules .. Has anyone else ever used these on a dog? CavsRcute how old is your girl? The vet mentioned today that dogs with HD often get UTI's frequently as they get older , this worried me as Rogue is only 11 months old
  12. Well the vet diagnosed a UTI as we thought so Rogue is on antibiotics for the next 10 days and hopefully this clears it all up! Wasn't able to get a sample for the vet and when we got there the vet stuck a needle into her to try and get a sample but wasn't able to Would have liked to have gotten her urine tested just to be 100% a uti is what we are dealing with. Rogue has hip dysplasia and the vet thinks it may be a case of her holding on too long as sometimes when she goes it is causing her pain  Something we have to keep an eye on and se how we go from here .. And yes Rogue is desexed vjb
  13. Thanks everyone.. Poor little girl is snoozing now had enough of Mum following her around she hasn't tried to go again . Hoping I'll be able to catch her just before we leave for the vets soon.. Was wondering what else I could use to try and catch a sample but was a bit worried about contaminating it? Will let you know how she goes
  14. Thanks Staff'n'Toller been trying to get a sample she has only been once and was barely a dribble Will keep trying... shes is watching me follow her around with a jar thinking that I have finally lost the plot!
  15. I have a suspicion that my girl Rogue may have a UTI. I have an appointment with the vet at 4 pm today so hopefully we'll find out for sure what is going on with her. Its been going on for a couple of days now the first sign that i thought something may be wrong was when she started weeing in her bed. Rogue has been toilet trained now for well over 9 months and hasn't had many accidents at all , the few times that she has its been our fault when we have ignored her asking to go outside. Now every morning she is waking up with her crate bedding soaked , she has only woken me up (shes in our bedroom) once during the night and she had already wet her bed. I was thinking that it was just her maybe pushing the boundries to see what she can get away with and have mainly ignored her accidents until I worked out what may have been bothering her. This morning after letting her out of her 'wet' crate she ran outside like she was busting I watched her and barely a trickle came out , not long after she came back inside and wee'd on the floor (its almost like she can't control it) So wondering if others think this may be a UTI or something else? Also anything I could be doing for her till its time for her appointment?
  16. So is getting your dogs teeth cleaned say annually something that you should do and from what age is this recommended? If you were to get your dogs teeth cleaned from an early age obviously this would keep the cost down in the future and hopefully prevent or catch any problems that may occur.
  17. Does anyone know if there is anyone on the Gold Coast that stocks Orijien?? I have rang around a few places and most of them have never even heard of it...
  18. Thanks TB I've been to the website and read everything on there was just wanting to hear personal experiences with it. Glad to hear you are really enjoying in Good Luck with completing the course!
  19. My husband and I are considering doing the NDTF course in the not to distant future. I was hoping anyone that has done the course especially through correspondence would be able to tell me their experiences with it. I'd be interested on how useful/helpful you found the course? Did you think it was worthwhile? Was it easy to fit in with your lifestyle or did it take more time than you anticipated? What were the costs involved ? Did you think it was worth the money? Sorry for all the questions want to get an idea of what we are looking at before we make a commitment. Thanks in advance
  20. Awww what a beautiful little girl you have there sparky We found when welcoming new members into our family which the latest was only 5 weeks ago, its really important to make sure no one is feeling left out lots of extra love for her and your boy also. Saying that though we have found to build that one on one relationship and confidence up we sometimes take them all out for some individual one on one time (we are lucky always someone to say at home with those left at home) More than anything just watch them together and watch out for problems that may be about to occur and difuse the situation before it turns into something that may effect their relationship. Plenty of praise, love and cuddles and you'll have a happy family in no time Good Luck
  21. What a pair of sweeties!! All partied out by the look of it...
  22. That sounds beautiful I would take it as a sign of trust :nahnah:
  23. Thanks for that Wylie I just checked colourmax out and definitely will try that fingers crossed it makes a difference
  24. She goes outside everyday and plays in the sun so that should be helping her.. At what age would you say your boy's nose was filled in completely Rysup? What exactly is Colourmax and how does it work?
  25. If the lump is where he may have got bitten then more than likely it is just a bit of fluid just keep and eye on it because it could also be an abcess that will need treatment. Ring your vet and see what they say to put your mind at ease though but if its not going down in the next few days definantly a vet visit for him.
