  1. email said leave the pups at home for the first meet, so we'll do that
  2. Never fear, I was being decidedly toungue in cheek I figure life is too short to worry about the peanut gallery in any of it's myriad forms I'll be having a grande time, win or lose!
  3. we'll be there tomorrow night! Who else will be too?
  4. hang on a tic - what was that about newbies being ridiculed for travelling to rural shows at the end of the year? I have quite happy plans to (when the time comes) use the end of school holidays to get out further than we usually could for shows. Perfect time of year for it with most people free of weekday commitments! I keep reading what wonderful atmospheres the rural shows have, and I must have read at least 4 editorials calling for showies to get out and support the more rural shows. Camping is great fun, I figure camping + dogs + new scenery + other dog people to meet = even better! I wonder whose approval I need to avoid the dreaded ridicule? Such a bother none of this info came with my membership stuff! Ah well, I'll have a while to figure it out yet
  5. havent read all the replies but do wonder where private/small rescuers who take in pregnant bitches from pounds will stand. Would they count as breeders if they choose to whelp and rehome the pups?
  6. well paint me green and call me "noob", I had no idea it was more than just an optional bit of fun to anyone
  7. funny circumstances but well done
  8. indeed I hope people take advantage of the opportunity
  9. by all means email, I have called the group in question and sent messages previously about dogs being advertised as purebred that obviously were not, one was a "purebred mastiff" which quite obviously was not and I believe it was posted about by someone here also. No responce. I called about a "purebred cavoodle" listed on the private adoptions and was told since the owner thinks it's purebred they won't bother changing the details and what does it matter so long as the dog gets a home. They did say though that they do list dogs they have up for adoption as being XYZ cross rather than a designer name nd that certainly seems to have been the norm for quite a while. I have friends within the rescue group, and they do some great work, but our ethics on some issues are different - not saying wrong at all, just different ETA - also worth mentioning that the site is done by a vollunteer who also does 4 other rescue websites, so if something slips past the innitial edit it's not likely a high priority to change it unless it's a big error. ETA2 - gosh he sounds like a lovely dog doesn't he? Cute scruffer too
  10. awww Trix and Boo used to play like that all the time, then Jas came along and Trix mostly wants to play with him Jas is a lover not a fighter - he sticks to affectionate licks and heat butts
  11. oh my! what little cuties! The belly pics are my favourite too gosh darn cute for words How exciting for you cos!
  12. oh how sad, safe journey Buddy my thoughts and condolences to the family and friends you leave behind
  13. ack how awful for you, I hope it works as a deterant though if nothing else at least you'll have more evidence to be used when making a complaint. SO sorry you are having to put up with this
  14. get together and write a list of pros/cons to each of you having the dog, go with whichever of you is in the dogs best interest as is and make sure you don't include anything aspirational eg: even though I usually never take the dog for a walk I'll start doing it/I'll say I'll get someone in to walk the dog but really can't afford to. Keep it simple and honest. if it came down to neither of you being able to agree the fact that you've paid the majority and pup is microchipped in your name would likely swing things in your favour.
  15. Good on you for doing something proactive about it. seconded,
  16. I have the d1000 one but the dogs haven't made any attempts at eating it so I'm not much help - great comfy beds though!
  17. - genuinely friendly reception staff - some toys/books for the human kids - lots or pamphlets for different animals related products/services within the local area - I really like seeing a notice board with cards/letters from clients and funny animal related cartoon snippets/quotes - gives the impression they care about having a good relationship with clients and are down to earth animal people...plus I just really love "the far side"
  18. good to see! Perhaps suggest they get in touch with the cccq and see if they can get a copy of each of the breed pamphlets?
  19. awww how exciting for all the new puppies and people
