  2. Run free Jae. I'm sure you are having many a game with your fellow shepherds over the rainbow bridge. Rest in peace beautiful boy
  3. Thank you everyone Just when I think I have got myself together I read all of your beautiful posts, or get a heartfelt PM and I can't stop the tears. Missing my boy, and knowing that there are so many wonderful people out there who care. Thank you from myself, my OH and little Indi These photos were taken at the last DOL meet, he went around to everyone lapping up the pats. That was my cuddly boy through and through, a major sweetie.
  4. Thank you so much everyone, from the bottom of my heart. I didn't know so many had followed our journey It ended much to soon, but the memories Odin left will last a life time. Thank you again all, and especially to LMWS for letting me share a part of my life with such a special puppy
  5. Thank you everyone. LMWS, thanks mate. I haven't had the courage to post his tribute yet so really appreciate it and everything else you have done for me  Our family, just learning to cope with the loss of my mother, have all suffered another blow. Friday, saw me kissing Odin goodnight after his bath, telling him in the morning we were going on an adventure and how much fun we would have. Instead of driving to Melbourne we drove to the vet. Odin loved all those that met him, even at 7 months he would try and climb into peoples laps hehe He loved water and going to the beach. On Monday his ashes were scattered at Semaphore beach. His favourite place. Run free mate, you will always be remembered as our hero.
  6. Hi Piper, thanks for your reply. Such a shame the cost is so high. I will PM you for those numbers, thanks. Not looking into doing anything soon as so much going on but it is definitely something I want to have a go at so would be great to get into contact with some people
  7. Really Janba? I didn't even think of that :D I am a member of SACA so will ask them Will have a look at that site, noneybur Thank you to you both
  8. Hello :D Does anyone know of any herding workshops/training in South Australia that do not require ANKC registration? I would really like to have a go at herding (and see if my boy still has the instincts) He isn't ANKC registered and isn't desexed so unable to go on the associate register. Thanks in advance
  9. I was just thinking, I think I have become addicted to trick training This morning I started teaching Odin to lay on his side when I say "Bang!" It is so cute and just so much fun! I've never really gotten into trick training with past dogs and now that I have I am sorry I didn't do it sooner!
  10. It's great fun isn't it I'm having a ball teaching my boy all different sorts of tricks. His latest one is "dance" where he spins around in a circle. He loves the stimulation of trick training
  11. Oh no, he only gets a quick pat on my way past him, then put into a sit until the guest is in the house and the door is shut. If he is barking for the sake of it or if he is barking at something I have already noticed he doesn't get praised for it. Only ever when we are in the house
  12. Yep, we already do this. He gets praised for barking when someone is coming down our drive. Then is put into a sit while I answer the door and greet whoever it is. He is then given the chance to say hi if the guest wants to interact with him. Now, just to transfer that to the back yard
  13. Thank you for your post Erny, it is very helpful. Odin alert barks when people arrive (this is what I think he is doing in the yard), I acknowledge people are here, tell him enough and he stops. Proud that he has done his job. I think working with him in the yard, while neighbour is in hers will be a big help. Will get started on that this afternoon. Thanks again
  14. Erny, I am glad you brought up this thread as this is exactly my problem. I have just had a complaint from one of my neighbours that my 15 week old shepherd is barking at her whenever she goes outside. She is retired and spends a lot of time in her garden, so this is happening frequently. She isn't very approachable (learnt this when we were replacing the boundary fence!) so working with her on this is not going to happen. I have tried squirting him, using a growly no (which works for other behaviours), and taking him away from the situation. Unfortunately I can't drop what I am doing (I will soon be working from home and have a 3yo daughter) and go outside to reprimand him. He is inside when I am not home, but once I start working (home based child care) he will have to be outside during the day in his run. He is not barking for attention, he is happy to stay outside by himself and plays with a variety of toys that are rotated, has his own area to dig, and bones etc. Any ideas on what I can do? The neighbour making the complaint has already said that if we don't stop him she will go to the council. I assured her that I understand where she is coming from and I will get on top of it straight away. I am stumped as I haven't had this issue before. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated
  15. Odin has been with us for 3 nights and he has only cried to go out once during the night. He is in his crate beside our bed. He will go to the toilet about 9 before we go to bed, I'll take him out when he whines so far at about 4am, then he will get up at 6:30 when we do
