-
Pick up is Gordon. Price $20 each per jump and box free? Negotiable though. Not for separate sale, need all gone asap.

Hi all, I advertised these in the market place but thought more interested people would be in here. I have a broad jump, a high jump, a solid jump and a UD box for sale. They are all trial standard. I used them alot when trialling but for the past few years they have been stored at Mum's. They are in good, clean condition with a few bumps and scratches from going in and out of my car regularly. Mum wants them gone yesterday so I will take just about any offer for them. Sorry, no photos as I am in Melb.

Thanks for all the comments. We have had alot of fun with training and she loves it. RnB, I started with her at about 3 months old.

Hi M, welcome to DOL. Your best bet would be to contact the canine council in your state and meet up with a Shiba Inu breeder. They can then give their opinion as to whether your boy is breeding quality. The breeder will be able to pick out things about your dog that you wouldnt necessarily notice and assess his breeding quality. Backyard breeding is when someone just puts two dogs together to make puppies regardless of whether they meet the breed standard and are breed worthy. So to breed with Lotto's dog, you would need to make sure that both dogs are main registered and worthy of being bred. Doing it any other way is irresponsible. You should never breed just for the sake of puppies regardless of how adorable your dog is. Paper's doesnt mean that a dog should be bred from. A dog can be a stunning pet but there is more to it when it comes to breeding. They need to pass the breed health tests and also be a good representation of the breed. Eg, do you know your dogs good points and all his faults? If you meet up with some Shiba people and they think he could contribute to the breed, then they can help you to find a suitable bitch. Good luck. They are beautiful dogs!

Hope you get the cat bites looked at, they can be very serious. I had surgery and 7 days in hospital after a fairly minor looking cat tooth puncture over a joint.

I believe desexing changes alot of things and often its so subtle the owner doesnt notice. Most working dogs are entire and I wouldnt ever have one that was desexed. I have seen several cases of bitches developing inter dog aggression after desexing. There is an article on it somewhere, will try to find it. ETA desexing wont take away your dogs ability to work as a whole.

Purebred Is Best But What About Other Pets?
jesomil replied to Wilderblu's topic in General Dog Discussion
From a question a few pages back.... Its the same with budgies and guinea pigs. There are clubs that oversee shows etc. There is a huge difference between exhibition budgies/guinea pigs than the ones you see in pet shops. Thats why I support breeders only as they are actually trying to breed to a standard and generally trying to do the right thing rather than just putting together 2 mongrels in their backyard. I prefer the look of the purebreds. -
Purebred Is Best But What About Other Pets?

My dogs/rabbits/guinea pig/budgies are all from registered breeders. I think its important to support those people who are enthusiasts and put so much into their chosen animals. They breed carefully with conformation and temperament in mind always trying to keep the standard or better it. I prefer to give my money to these people than those that are just breeding what they have because they can. -
I am so sorry for your loss. She sounded like a very special girl .

Just incase anyone in here is interested, I have listed some of my old trialling gear for sale in the marketplace. 1 broadjump, 1 solid jump, 1 bar jump, 1 UD box. Very well used but still in good condition. Pick up from Gordon, NSW.

We train schutzhund obedience so no hand signals or body cues like holding a hand at waist level are allowed (took me ages to break that habit ). If I trialled in ANKC obedience, I would definately use the hand signal as well as voice command. Give the dog as much help as you can if allowed!!
-
Thanks Jeanne Re the drop command, I use voice only commands, no hand signals.

Love watching everyones videos I have only just added 2 videos. First one of my Rotty (fast foward to obedience at 35secs) then another clip of my old trialling dog who is a Corgi. http://www.youtube.com/jesomil

Absolutely. You will learn more from him than anyone else. I have been to many workshops but I came home from his buzzing with pages and pages of notes. -

he he he oops, you quoted the bit I edited out!! I was too slow!! Jumping fences to work other sheep would be a disqualification at any level I would think but jumping a fence when the dog was solidly working its sheep would be ok or maybe minor points depending on sitaution. Yard dogs need to jump fences in day to day work so its all part of it as long as they arent looking for work elsewhere. ETA No different to any working dogs. If a guard type dog is being sent after someone, they cant change their mind and head for someone else. Their handler needs to be able to direct them and even redirect them when necessary. Going after an innocent person that looks more interesting is a big no no -

Good stuff shotstep I think there is a little confusion with terminology going on. I think Shortstep is talking about being able to redirect a dog mid cast. Eg, you cast your dog, then before it reaches the mob, you redirect it to another mob. Therefore the dog works the mob you want it to work not which ever mob it chooses. You can set up 3 mobs of sheep and the dog watches all of them but when you sent the dog, it only goes after the mob you direct it to. Dogs shouldnt be choosing what to herd, they should be following their handlers commands. If the dog is trained in this manner, it will only work the sheep directed and will not be looking elsewhere. Also if a dog goes to jump a fence looking for other sheep, you can redirect it even before it reaches the fence so fence jumping is not a problem. Edited the yard dog bit so its not taken the wrong way. -
So sorry you lost your beautiful girl. Her tribute is really lovely. She looked a very special member of your family.

Many years ago I received an unexpected bonus from training in public. I used to train my old girl (RIP) at an oval and one day I was being watched by someone who came over and I ended up working for them for the next two years training and had a great time!! I always feel a bit shy training in public. I regularly put my dogs through their routines at the park and every time people stop and watch. Its ok but I start to feel very self conscious and find it hard to concentrate on actually working the dog.

When there were two off lead large breed dogs playing tug of war with my Corgi, I mangaged to kick on one them in the head and it was hard enough to make it bleed. It would have been stupid to put my hand in amongst it. My kick was hard enough to stop the dogs and let them know I meant business. They had done serious damage to my dog and she spent the next week in the vet having several surgeries. Kicking this dog was the right thing to do and if any of my dogs were ever attacked again I would do the same thing.
