for the first 2 months when I got my dog I bought a massive crate (I new he would grow into it)and a small dog kennel (I knew he would grow out of it) I would crate him in the night and he would sleep inside the kennel, then if he needed to go pee pee in the night he would do it in the crate, outside and behind the kennel. Then in the morning I would let him out clean out the crate. Now he has the crate with no kennel sleeps throughout the night and goes pee pee when I let him out in the morning.

Wary Of A Particular Breed... Anyone Else...?
Ali replied to WillowGirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
I was having a think about it, I think by default I'm wary of any "bull breeds" basically because in the area of Sydney where I live I know the type of owners they attract, which ussually means the poor dogs wont have been socialised or trained properly in turn making them a possible dangerous dogs. I'm also wary of any dog breed which is powerful enough to do damage to me. I'm a 100 kilos of pure muscle.....ok I lied about the muscle part. But really its not due to the temperment of any breed its more to do so with the lack of trust of people who won them...and it really is only a wearyness or cautiousness which I think is a responcible approach to any animal you are not familier with. -
Prong collar, I diddnt even need to correct, when the dog pulled a couple of times the prong tightend up on itself and the discomfort was enough to deter any pulling.

Congrats, Can offer one peice of advice, Even though you can approach pat and remoce bones and food from your dog....I would be encouraging or allowing your child to do it...Its just not worth the risk.. My pup never showed food agression around his food but did have slight growl when on his bone. Fortunatly I nipped both in the butt early, but I see it as an insurence policy in case one day my child got close to the dog while he was eating or on a bone. But normally and always I keep my kids away from an eating animal. again great progress on your pup, I'm sure you will have many more :D

I was thinking about it yesterday, but I dont think any of the pools close fo the season here in Sydney....
-
Girl to boy ratio in that pool is way off, :p ....What all the guys were thinking it Back on topic, the bool things a great idea...

Hey what would you improve in a doberman? erect ears? :D
-
Great info and good reading, I fully support it. I wish I had the time, money and knowledge to introduce small natural upright standing ears into a masstiff breed. So something like crossing a bull terrier with a bullmastiff or the like...maybe one day.... looks like she thought of my idea already but had no interest.. "As to the other possibility of introducing the erect ear gene into the boxer from the Corgi as originally contemplated, I’m afraid this option is no longer available. I have attempted to mate the one bitch retained for the purpose on several occasions but she has always appeared past time when her owners have notified me. Only if the Boxer Breed Council were to be interested in developing erect-eared Boxers would I contemplate starting such a project again."

Simple just take the dog to another firends house and tell the friend that the dog got out and hasnt been found....then go pick the dog up in a couple of days..

Looking For Good Video Of Food Refusal
Ali replied to ZAUBISTAR's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
All true, I suppose what ever you can do to protect your dog, Its defiently used for guard dogs..and I think its instilled into young pups... -
Not judging, but reading that is it irresponcible to breed a dog that has that number of sensitivitys? I loev the look of Frenchies but never knew they were fragile... Thats true and in honesty some breeders come off quite snoody and hollier the thou.

Yeah Kavik, Essentially it teaches the dog to only accept food from their bowl and from now where else...I want to teach it to my dog as well as I dont trust one of my neighbours, he doesnt like my dog and I suspect him capable of feeding my dog rat poison or lacing a piece of stack with some sort of poison and chucking it over the fence. It is used alot with security and and guard dogs. So +1 if anyone has any material. Thanks -
