  1. The referral came from the department of housing who told me before I got anywhere near speaking with her or helping her that it was a total loss. She confirmed this when I spoke with her and she was on speaker phone in the office of the department of housing at our first phone conversation. She has been unable to live in the house since then and the housing dept have helped her with accommodation in a caravan park with her 5 kids. This morning I spoke with her again and questioned her re the address for donations as posted above and she knew nothing of this and said she didnt know anyone who lived in Bourke street. Then several hours later I met with her landlord who told me that the tenant had lost everything but the house was insured. The landlord has helped her in finding more accommodation and given her references etc. When she has a new address she intends to go to the salvos and St Vinnies to ask them for some help with furniture etc.
  2. No this one was a total loss - no doubt about that bit.
  3. This appears to be a different family. Hmmm, strange - it all had the same childrens names and ages listed in the notice here. Sad to think there are so many fires lately - comes with winter Very strange - when I spoke with the lady this morning she knew nothing of this and told me she had no knowledge of someone in Bourke street collecting on her behalf.
  4. This appears to be a different family.
  5. Sounds like they have a lot to learn but because some people do it wrong makes it more important that there are good people getting it right.
  6. Well bred Stafford puppies, from ethical registered breeders are in demand, there are not enough to go around. We should be encouraging any potential breeder who is willing to put in the hard yards, show, learn and do things like the MDBA courses, not tell them to look at Staffy Rescue and think twice. Yes I agree.Part of being a breeder is thinking through the possibility that a pup you send home wont be able to stay with their owners for a variety of reasons and what you are going to do to ensure yours dont end up in rescue.
  7. http://www.fitfurlife-australia.com/ The lady who owns this business [Marian] is awesome and really knows her stuff .She has put heaps of knowledge and research into getting it right to be able to advise you about whats the best for your dog. They are also a sponsor of the MDBA Dog Owners Choice Awards category award for science and Research
  8. I guess sometimes you are going to have to trust that some things are not able to be stated on a public forum. Please remember that the people involved in PACERS are breeders. That we are aware of the issues we need to consider and if it were possible for the breeder to be contacted and asked to help we would do so. You also have to understand that we can only do what is O.K. with the owners and we are hoping that this is a very temporary situation and the dog can be re - united with her family before she whelps. None of us can simply go in and do as we please against the owners wishes and we have to take many things into account when we decide what we have to do to manage each case depending on the variables.

  10. Steve's PM is kept full. Send her an email instead . She helping a few families who have lost everything in fires, so I am sure she will appreciate your offer. Ive been trying to keep it open since the Jed thing started but Im away from home and only dropping in now and then so its hard to keep it free. Email really is best. Its going to be a very long time before Jed has a clue about what she needs and where she will live and with whom. Even then much of he furniture has been saved and she was insured [ we hope]. I don think at this time she eve going to be in a situation where she will need these kind of donatons but if at a later date she is we will give a yell. The family has asked that donations of goods and furniture are not made at this time as this become a huge problem in itself. Used towels and sheets would be much appreciated here as we have had to set up shelters from scratch and everything is in short supply. So thank you anyway but please hold back on donations of household goods and furniture until further notice. Julie

  12. We have 2 storage containers here and a big shed. I'm about half way between Melbourne and Sydney and Sydney and Adelaide and we have storage facilities in Queensland in a couple of places. We are negotiating storage in Perth so we can get some food distributed which Eukanuba donate to us on the western coast as well as the eastern. We also have people who help us move the stuff around for us free of charge or cost price too.
  13. thanks Guys . Its not possible to contact the breeders. We're sorted now Peta from Albury Dog rescue is going to mind them for us.
  14. He was in fcat very rude and kept talking over the top of me and correcting what I said, I mean I dont tell him how to pot his plants but he sure knew what size my dogs were and all about the breed. I may put the email to my breeder, she will tear him to shreds! Fiesty woman that one and so passionate with the breed! OT I emailed Lauren again Steve I hope its sorted out ( For Jed) ? Yep thats what I got too.

  16. No point in me keeping all of the bawling to myself Mita. Smart lady! It worked. Half my crying is knowing how happy ChiChi's pic will make her mum. She saved the little mite at the cost of serious injuries. And here's Chi Chi tucked up safe & warm & comfy in a home away from home. 'Scuse me. Fogging up again. yep I hear you.Seems Ive been quite successful in spreading the bawling around but last night when I heard Magnus was gone for a little while I thought perhaps I was too bawling and that I might never stop.

  22. More details 5 kids nothing left except what they are standing in. Fire caused by a bar heater and the Dept of housing have put them into a cabin in the caravan park until more appropriate accommodation can be found. Trish from Albury Dog Rescue has managed to find us a foster carer who has experience with whelping and the means to look after them without a problem. Whew thanks again Trish
  23. I dont know the rest of the details yet but she is extremely distressed.
