  1. Just wondering if anyone can tell me how many raw chicken wings they would feed their 2 year old female staffy in a meal. Im asking this as ive been away and my husband has been in charge of feeding and i think has overfed her on chicken wings for a few days, her last meal of wings was last night and had roast chicken this morning, on average he tells me he'd give her 2 or 3 wings at a meal over 3 days! so tonight she has vomited twice (no dinner as yet) behaviour was pretty normal today chasing a ball this arvo etc but is pretty quiet tonight, do u think its possible its 'backed up' in her and making her feel ill? i feel so stupid asking but i wouldnt let them have that many in a row so never been here before...
  2. Haha sheena that makes me feel a bit better. It has been raining here a fair bit we live in Townsville I'm assuming shes just being lazy but it's just so frustrating.
  3. HELP! My four year old staffy suddenly decided to start weeing & pooping on the patio instead of the grass, which is right next to it. she's been fine going on the grass up until about 3weeks ago, she will even go almost right next to her own bed! she's in perfectly normal health - other than this issue. we have another dog and he's starting to do this too. she always does it during the night while we are asleep or while we are at work. since im not therewhen she does it i dont know how to stop her or rather have the oppurtunity to retrain her. any ideas or help would really be appreciated!!!
  4. OMG my staffy rolled in something seriously wrong this arvo! I've washed her twice and let it soak in for about 10 mins each time, still cannot get this smell to budge! it doesnt smell like poop, or something dead, or stagnet water its more like a strong fly repellant smell! we have cane fields out the back so dont know if its come from there, help! im about to try bi-card and vinegar!
  5. Thanks so much for your replies! we watched her all night and she looks pretty good this morning. lucky. Thanks again, now i know how to deal with those dirty little suckers.
  6. Our staffy may have licked/nipped a cane toad tonight. we were out at dinner when my parents called and said she had frothed at the mouth spewed and was drooling. we came straight home and have washed her mouth out with the hose. this is the first encounter we have had and im not sure where to go form here. she's not drooling anymore, although one side of her lip is quite red inside, am just worried. how are you ment to treat a dog wen cane toads are involved... ???
  7. Hi, I have a staffy who had the demodectic mange and my vet gave us Ivomec its a sheep wormer, which i had to give to her with food at 4mls a day until it was gone. although becuase its a wormer i didnt need to gover her worming tablets and i think its took us about a month to completley have it cleared up. i know some breeds are seriously affected by this though like collies and your friend should check with the vet. But if the vet is making pst pst noises at them i would go elsewhere its not their fault their dog has demodectic mange as its usually passed down from mother to pup and comes out when the dogs immune system is low, and its not contagous like sarcoptic mange is. hope this helps..
  8. Hi, I have a 2yr old chihuahua cross who cant stand travelling in the car, he spews every time, when we go to the dog park we tie him and our staffy in the back of the ute and hes been fine... until recently hes started again. We will be flying our dogs up north at xmas its about a 1.5 hr flight, but im worried he will spew in the crate or not be able to cope with 1.5hrs of motion sickness if he gets sick. Has anyone else flown with dogs before that are prone to motion sickness? or is it worth having him sedated or is too drastic for a 1.5 hr flight?? help!
  9. OMG i didnt even think about that part of the bone!! thanks for the info.
  10. My boyfriend feed our dogs Chicken Legs (Chicken marylands) are chicken legs ok for dogs to eat?? i feed them chicken wings all the time but is a leg much different? as in hardness of the bone etc???
  11. Are they ok for dogs? i just noticed i gave my staffy one the other day and she ate the whole thing in like 15 mins, now im scared to give it her again since i heard bad stuff about those rawhide chews as they would be similar right?
  12. Hi, Oooh a Weimaraner how exciting! Sounds like you've really thought this through and im sure it'll go fine. i read that when introducing a new puppy to an older one its best to do this away from the home where the existing dog lives. so i think u have the right idea. we have a chihuahua and had him for about a year when we got ur new puppy who is a staffy, when we introduced them (im naughty) we did it at home (i read that helpful info above too late) chino the chihuahua was really stand offish and didnt know how to take this new 'intruder'. after a while he came around but hes pretty friendly so depends on your older dog i guess. anyways in the first few days we couldnt stay home with them and kept them seperate for a few days (wouldve been longer but the pup screamed so much i thought i was going to have rspca come to my door) so we sorta just left them together but my chihuahua and staffy were about the same size then. they get along great now we have had our staffy for about 3 mnths and now shes 3 times the size of chino. i try not to influence who is the pack leader and i take turns with them to treat them the same like when patting them i might pat chino first when i come home and other days i'll pat tira (staffy) first, same with feeding and giving them treats when training i just try to alernate and not show favourtisim. to be honest i havent really noticed any domenering behaviour in either of them and if i do see signs of it i try to interupt it, since tira will be so much bigger i try to keep them on the same level. Things like walking they do together actully pretty much everything is done together. they seem happy pups so hope ive done a good job. Hope this helps Krystle, Chino & Tira
