  1. Did you read the entire article? Obviously not. ETA I'm not on either side of this debate, it just bothers me when people get argumentative without having properly read the sources (and then badly misquoting)
  2. Got Missy back from the vet tonight (she was in for desex/C5 vaccs/microchip/teeth) and was about to put her vaccinations card in her file when I noticed she'd only been given a C3 (and I'm damn sure I asked for C5 ). Can she be given the parainfluenza and bordatella vaccination within two weeks of having the C3?
  3. On a brighter note, Missy (who isn't even ready to adopt yet) already has a home waiting for her (Missy is the dog in the background of Molly's first photo)
  4. I think part of Molly's problem was lack of handling and socialisation as a puppy. If her trainer applies with another dog, I'll be much more cautious (he told us there were no problems with Molly )
  5. At least Missy's baldness isn't the usual Greyhound bald thighs/chest, it's just small patches where she's hurt herself (she still has a few sizable cuts that aren't completely healed up yet) and the hair hasn't grown back yet. I've brushed her down really well this morning and there was far less dandruff than the last few times, might try the Malaseb though.
  6. Yep. It's one of the first books I can remember. We had the audio tape too, it had the song, can't remember all the words but the start went: "Where in the world is the Pokey Little Puppy? Where in the world is he?"
  7. Any idea if Sebazole Wash is any good?
  8. Missy's coat seems to be pretty bad, she has a few spots where the fur (which is black) has faded to a dirty grey/brown and plenty of scrapes, bald patches and random tufts. Some things will improve with time (like the bald bits) but the dandruff looks like it needs something.
  9. I don't know about everyone else but I've noticed in our dogs it seems to only be the girls that cause it. The places where Kiff (boy) urinates looks fine (even a tad lusher than the rest of the grass) but where Missy regulary goes, the grass is completely dead. Our dogs are eating Advance (active) for lunch and rice/mince/vegetables for dinner.
  10. Our new foster Missy has really severe dandruff, she's getting fish oil capsules and we've bathed her with Honey and Oatmeal shampoo but it doesn't seem to have made much difference. She's coming with us to the Hobart Show on Thursday so I'd really like for people to be able to pat her without raising a huge cloud of doggy dandruff! Any suggestions?
  11. Thank you Peibe and Olly for your kind words, the last few days have been quite hard. Even though I know we made the right decision, the guilt is still eating at me. I've never had to have a perfectly healthy, young dog put down before and it was a hell of a lot harder than I expected (even knowing that we could never rehome her safely). At least a few positives came out of it, we've learnt from the experience and with that new knowledge we can better help other Greys. One more pic, probably my favourite...... Molly at her muppety best
  12. At 5:00pm yesterday, our precious little muppet was put to sleep. We could only give her two more weeks of life, I just hope they were happy for her. She had two weeks of love, walks, treats and cuddles. Two weeks was all it took for her to shuffle into my heart and make herself comfy. It breaks my heart that we couldn't do more for her, so many "ifs".... "If we didn't have other fosters and a Grey of our own, we could've just kept her" "If we had more foster carers (and one experienced with aggression) she could've been saved" "If we had more time, maybe she would've settled down" "If we could just find the right home for her, she might improve" It was the hardest decision I've ever had to make, I hope she could understand that and forgives me. Molly, tell Nelson and Jack I sent you, they'll keep you safe until I get there. Shuffle on, little muppet, we will never forget you
