  1. Erm.. there is? I guess that depends very much on what you consider to be evidence and what exactly your beliefs are. Personally, I don't believe anything has a soul but that doesn't mean things can't be valued still for what they do have. You don't have to believe in the christian god (or any god, really) to treat animals with the same respect you'd show your fellow man. Of course, if you mean "soul" in the non-religious sense (ie, a distinct personality, the ability to feel and understand what happens around it, etc), almost every type of animal could be said to have a soul.
  2. If you believe that organic is healthier/better for the environment/whatever, I guess it's easier to justify the added expense. Personally, I wouldn't pay extra for organic dogfood nor do I eat organic, myself.
  3. On private property? On a lead no longer than a metre? That's not very long... It was clarified that there was no reference to private property, no? Either way, not a huge deal. One metre isn't especially long* but it's hardly the sort of draconian dog laws they have to deal with in many places in Queensland. *I usually walk my dog on a leash that's one metre long and it doesn't cause us any bother. The shorter length makes it easier to reel him in if we're approaching other people (or dogs)- not everyone appreciates dog nose in their crotch as they walk past Edited to correct typo
  4. From the mini Aussie bulldog site.. From the Aussie Bulldog site.. The bolding and rofls are my own
  5. Never seen it although just from glancing quickly through it, I'm not especially keen on the site- the option to meet with other people with undesexed dogs of a particular gender? Maybe it's just me but that sounds like a cross between RSVP.com and the Petlink "wanted" section
  6. Kiff and Sally have tags from here. From memory, each tag lists their name and our home phone number on the front and on the rear, "microchipped" and my partner's mobile phone number. The note about them being microchipped serves two purposes- if they're ever picked up as strays (as unlikely as that is) and they have their collars on, they can be traced back to us in two different ways (the chip contains far more details than we could've fit on a tag) and if someone was ever tempted to steal them, hopefully the fact that they're microchipped would be a little bit of a deterrent (they're both desexed anyway so I can't see how they'd be of any value to anyone else but.. )
  7. How rude, who cares about the name its the home that matters. Im sure the lab will get a lot more love and attention than many large scale breeders and animal collectors I know. Our rescue has placed a WGSD 8 month old pup in to a home with six kids including toddlers. We have a waiting list of over 15 people just in Melbourne, and our rehoming condition with this pup was that he must go to a home with kids. They are first time GSD owners, and this dog is thriving. A good breeder and rescue will educate, prepare and support their buyers so there is no confusion as to what they are getting and also be available to support their buyers during 'difficult' situations. Thinking a home is not worthy of getting a pup due to describing a colour of a coat is BS. Most of the average dog owners I know would call a yellow lab gold. Who cares? Squid, she asked for opinions, I gave mine. That's the point of posting on a forum to ask for opinions, is it not? If you have a problem with my opinion, that's fine but at least have the courtesy to respond politely and concisely with your rebuttal, rather than just calling me rude (which is a little bit hypocritical, given your reply ). I happen to disagree with your opinion but you'll note I refrained from insulting you or your opinion.
  8. Personally, I believe education of the potential owner is far more important than the ages of children concerned. Older children can still be bitten by incorrectly handled dogs. No offense intended to the OP but if I were you, I'd put off getting a dog until you've put in the time to educate yourself regarding the breed chosen. Once you actually know what the breed is called (and a bit more about usual temperament and behaviour), maybe then you could consider getting one
  9. So mental illness now makes someone unworthy of understanding or perhaps even a little bit of compassion? It's great to see that all the money being spent on educating the public about mental health issues is having such a profound effect
  10. All she needed to do was to pick up a phone. Change "couldn't" to "wouldn't" Before jumping in to vilify people, I think it's only fair to at least take the time to really understand what has happened. Addiction related to gaming is no different from any other addiction- if this woman was suffering from a more familiar condition (drug addiction, compulsive hoarding, etc) I'm sure people wouldn't be jumping in and assuming that she was completely aware and in control of her situation (and most importantly, I don't think people would be blaming her in quite the same way). I know someone who's addicted to WoW and while some people don't (or can't) believe it's a serious issue, I've watched someone almost literally stop existing in the real world; neglecting his home until it was almost falling down around his ears, neglecting his job until his employment there was terminated, neglecting his personal relationships until he had no one to help or support him and neglecting his own health until he was almost dead. This story is terrible but hopefully it will highlight exactly how widespread the problem is- it's no longer just Koreans dying after 100+ hour WoW benders in internet cafes.
  11. This. On their far smaller budget, they're doing amazing work. It's a pity the LCC area ended up with the RSPCA operating the area pound, the Dogs' Home of Tas seem to do a far better job of returning or rehoming animals.
  12. Kristina; your selling off dogs with potential agression issues. You're already bred the bitch who is only just a year old and they are not effectivly controlled. Congratulations; you're one of the worst breeders I know. I assume she means that if you can't control the dogs around potential prey items, they could become aggressive towards those prey items. Which is kind of.. Prey drive is already an urge to chase/kill things and to imply otherwise is a little dishonest. On the off-chance she means that inability to control the dogs may result in aggression directed towards the handler.. if she has sold puppies of this sort to a pet shop, there's really no excusing that.
  13. It wasn't just aimed at you, Shell. If Kristina feels the need to get abusive, it's likey she'll get a visit from the Warning Fairy, herself. Same applies for everyone else. As far as the issue at hands goes.. I'll admit to being a little curious as to why Kristina hasn't thrown this alleged other breeder under the bus. I know if I were a registered breeder, clearing my own name would rate a little higher in my priorities than protecting a BYB (or whoever it was).
  14. no its not - I have it in black and white in front of me. Along with other interesting things from Kristina. I dont make things up. If you have evidence that Kristina is selling more puppies to pet shops or breeding for this purpose, feel free to post it. If not, I'm afraid I'm going to have assume it is speculation and ignore it Glad to see at least one person in here with a brain I just prefer to see evidence before going to all the effort of unpacking my torch and pickfork. It's another symptom of my laziness, really. On a slightly related note.. The people tossing around the words like "idiot" and what-have-you might want to just bear in mind the forum rule about not attacking other members. Just sayin' i agree with this HA but we arent going to get the info here methinks Three sides to every story and all that Edited to add.. Wow.. 94 reading this. It's a pity it's not really a constructive thread.

  16. uh huh. Along with the other litter they plan to take to the pet stores? That's pure speculation, Nekhbet. I could say that Kristina also enjoys kicking orphans and pushing old people into traffic but that wouldn't make it true. Stick to facts, otherwise Troy is going to pull the plug on this thread too. Edited to add.. It's an automatic reaction to percieved drama llama'ing. The percieved llama may not have had dramatic intentions, hence the post got edited. Where was it mentioned MANY times? Is there other threads? I wouldn't mind being a llama right now actually There was a 11 page (well.. it was 11 pages before I got bored with reading it and went to have a nanna nap) thread on this.. either yesterday or the day before. The original mention of the litter being accidental is still in whichever breed thread. Either way.. there seem to be claims to a different effect now anyway so.. who knows

  19. It has been mentioned many times that the litter was accidental. Edited to remove excessive snarkiness.
  20. While I agree with the sentiment*, comments like this will very likely get the thread deleted. Edited to add.. * In regards to breeding for profit. As far as who bred these pups or the motivations for the breeding, that's anyone's guess, really.
  21. And.. crossing the breed with a working line GSD and then selling them to a pet shop to be on-sold to uneducated consumers is helping the breed?
  22. One moment.. let me just find my surprised face... (it really needs an Orly owl but.. meh) Perhaps if the RSPCA focused more on actually addressing welfare issues and less time worrying about making more money, they wouldn't have these embarassing little squabbles coming up so often
  23. Yes poodlemum have been a member for a few years now ;) I did not even know there was such a list I very rarely go to the home page lol. Ok after reading some of the responses , I started to feel bad, thinking there was some poor person who would really love a puppy but did not speak good english,So I went back through my deleted emails and found the suspect email and replied. My response - Hi ....... There are still puppies left in this litter, they are a working breed of dog and not suitable for everyone, If you are interested in purchasing one please call me and tell me a bit more about yourself and what you are expecting out of a puppy, it may be that my puppies are not suitable for your lifestyle.... thanking you Sheree The reply I got Thank you very much for the response. I will be happy to buy them.Note that you will not be responsible for shipping and handling. Myshipping company will come to your location for pick up. Kindlyprovide me your name and full address so i can forward it to theshipping company to calculate the cost of pick up for me. Do get backto me as soon as possible. needless to say it went straight back into the delete bin. Heh.. I won't say it (So very, very tempting though)
  24. We bought our house from a registered dally breeder (we're in Launceston) and as far as I know, they moved somewhere just out of Launceston so it's possible it's the same woman. I probably have her contact details somewhere, if SpottyChick wants/needs them.
