  1. Yeah, but you have to pretend you're not going to FF, at least for a while :p
  2. If your dog is having loose, dark, sticky stools on raw, it's going to be one of two things- too much liver or not enough bone. If adjusting the diet doesn't work, it's possibly bleeding in the upper GI tract and should be seen by a vet. In my years of feeding raw, with all the different things I've tried (including supplements), I've never seen any herbal/food-based supplement that affected stools in any obvious way.
  3.  Benny is working his crafty wiles. And only 24 hours in
  4. Try just copy/pasting the image link, that way people can see go look at the pics? Photobucket puts some annoying stuff in their share urls so they don't work on Dol.
  5. Still a lot of handsome left in those old bones :D
  6. Brandiandwe will be in to post more photos and his story shortly, she just has to get him home and give the old boy a bit of a sprucing up :D
  7. It's official! Ben is now safe with Brandiandwe and will be back to couch surfing in a few hours Huge thanks to Brandi for offering him a couch while he looks for a place to call his own and to everyone else who helped to pull this one off.
  8. Did you see the thing on his new product about how cancer came about because JFK was having scientists grow polio vaccine on monkey kidneys and a sexually transmitted monkey diseases got loose and that's why we have cancer? And what triggers the cancer? Getting treatment for cancer- cancer that you didn't have until it was triggered by a cancer treatment, which you were getting to treat the cancer you got from a cancer treatment that gave you cancer while you were being treated for cancer you got from cancer treatment, obviously There's a heap more frothing crazy to be found on that page here.. http://store.augustineapproved.com/faith-for-dogs-and-cats
  9. Track pants would be easier, no? Maybe a flannie.
  10. What about Bosley's pink t-shirt Maddy? Does he still have that one :p He looks vewy pwetty in pink
  11. Or clog up the pipes with wads of stuffing, resulting in a whole load of water flooding the laundry. Worst thing is, I've done that more than once >.>
  12. My fat old bastard has six square metres of vetbed piled up under his bum to pad the old hips a bit. Let me tell you something.. it pays to cut large lengths into smaller lengths so that when elderly dog has an accident in his bed, you aren't trying to fit a 3sqm piece of vetbed into the washing machine and then getting it stuck there and spattering the laundry walls with wee when you try to yank the whole lot back out The things we learn from experience..
  13. Is that what will happen is GR takes him? Why do some "rescues" do that? A cage is a cage is a cage. Probably. I suppose the thinking is.. better in a kennel than dead. Personally, I don't agree with it and I don't think it does much for an animal's mental health (especially not a greyhound) but I guess it comes down to the ethics of the individual. I just want this old guy out and parked on a couch. I have two oldies myself and they need that extra bit of warmth and comfort.
  14. I don't want to ssee this poor old boy end up in kennels in winter so if another adoption doesn't come up, I'd be happy to organise some proper rescue for him.
  15. Epilepsy came up frequently and from the number of dogs who suffered status epilepticus and died from it, I'd guess the epilepsy was fairly severe. Epilepsy can be genetic and given the breeder was informed by numerous puppy buyers that it was coming up, he should have been doing something to prevent it, rather than just telling each puppy buyer that he'd never had an epileptic pup before.
  16. A vet who believes in homeopathy? Nope, that just makes discounting it even easier.
  17. I'm familiar with the concept but again, potential pharmacological effect in humans =/= cures cancer in dogs. It's certainly worth studying but with no evidence that turmeric is of any benefit (and that it doesn't cause any harm), there's really no reason to be including it in a dog's diet.
  18. Having to feed the dog vegan for veterinary reasons is a very different thing though, given it's not really a choice. Pushing food ethics onto dogs (where it isn't of benefit) is a whole other story, and not just because of what they lose in nutrition.
  19. Weird hippy shit can make these things worse too. Speaking from experience of someone that has food allergies. For instance 2 of the ingredients in this formula have caused major issues for me (chia & maca). Maybe that is why I am quite careful now. Vitamins, herbs, minerals can cause harm. ETA: have had nasty issues with flaxseed too! Definitely agree with this. I have sarcoidosis (another crappy immune disease, complete with crappy granulomas everywhere) and multivitamins that contain vitamin D make me feel incredibly ill- tired, sore, monster headaches, etc. When it comes to things that do have a pharmacological effect, they should be treated with a bit of care because what may be great for one person (or dog) could make another person (or dog) very unwell. And as Jules pointed out, the fact that Phivo Christodoulou has no relevant training in nutrition or veterinary medicine should be of concern. Even more concerning is pushing vegan diets/supplements for dogs. And if that's not enough of a red flag, here he is, claiming to have a cure for cancer.. The most reliable symptom of quackery is the sufferer believing they can cure cancer. If all that seems overly negative or snarky.. it's because I think this kind of pseudoscience is especially dangerous and even more disgusting than most because it takes advantage of loving pet owners- people who just want to do the right thing by their dogs. Maybe the creator really believes what he's saying but that doesn't make it better (and it doesn't make his products actually work).
  20. Hell no :p If you're looking to do cert II but can't get into your local Tafe to do it, Tafe NSW offers the course online for around $500. They're offering a cert II for $500???? I don't know how they are doing it for these prices!!! NSW must have really good funding arrangements with the state government or something. Did you do this one? And what about learning the practical components? I know the cert II has several UOC's that require learning and assessment to be done in a practical context, how do they manage that? Obviously these questions are irrelevant if you didn't do the course! https://www.tafensw.edu.au/howex/servlet/Course?Command=GetCourse&CourseNo=18910&selType=coursesResults A friend who lives up that way found it for me (haven't started yet), most of the online cert IIs I found were priced between $1500 and $3000. To do the Tafe course in Tasmania is only $900ish (for non-concession holders) but being a very popular course, it's usually full within a day or so of opening, very hard to get into. I've missed it two years in a row now and finally got sick of waiting.

  22. Depends on what options you take. If you want printed course materials or need to pay in installments, the price goes up quite a bit.
