  1. Hi Poodlefan yes i have done salon based training and they used loads of different shampoos and conditioners as you suggested. I just wandered if anyone could recommend any before i go out and get some. The person i got the K9 shampoo from said she used it as her main shampoo all the time, she raved about how good it was but after reading the bottle and your comments i am sure she was just trying to make a sale (i bought my trailer from her).
  2. I am just about to start my own mobile grooming business and was wandering what shampoos and stuff groomers recommend. I was given some Rural West K9 Kare insecticide shampoo which brings my dogs coat up great and smells really good but is this ok to use all the time ? or should i just use it as a flea rinse ? Oooooh so many questions ...
  3. yeah i know what you mean, i told my husband and he said we should take up the business insurance which is a bugger as its really expensive. Oh well. I am still pretty new at towing so i guess i should pay the extra just in case
  4. Thanks 4 paws and BC I think i will go with the normal car insurance as well as its alot more expensive to say its for business. I am still getting quotes for insurance but Elders are looking good so far for public liablity and cgu (who i insure my car with) for the trailer.
  5. thanks i will try them as well. have you got your car insured for business use ? i just got a quote and it has double my normal car insurance price
  6. Hi'a Thanks for that I have just called Elders and they are cheaper so i may go with them. Do you normally go for 5 or 10 million liablity ?? this is all totally new to me and my poor little brain is beginning to hurt
  7. Hi'a I am just setting up a mobile grooming business and have been busy getting quotes for groomers insurance and wandered who everyone used. I have got quotes from Ford Kinter and from the pet industry insurance website. Can anyone recommend anyone else ? Also do mobile groomers normally insure there trailer / hydrobath etc on your normal car insurance or through the groomers insurance company. The last person i spoke to said it would be cheaper to use my normal car insurance company so I am about to ring them to find out. Thanks Angie
  8. Personality is the major componant. The most important. Confidence with the dogs, a good manner, proffessional and well groomed. Love of animals and the want to learn, eager to try new things and not be affraid of being chucked in at the deep end. Owning a dog yourself isnt nessesary. When i started at the company i hadnt had a dog for nearly 6 years and after taking over the business as my own i now have 2 of them. And i have a staff member who only has a cat. I prefer peopel with no to little training because then i can train them how I want them to do things. But the previous owner had hired 2 women who ha d experience. They fine tuned their abilities and opened up their own business from home in direct competition. But it wouldnt stop me from hiring someone with experience. Hi I too looked into the Tafe course but decided against it as it didn't seem to be very hands on. I have just done a 13 day salon based course in Perth which was 100% hands on and even now feel like i need more experience in a salon. If anyone knows of a salon looking for staff around Adelaide i would be very interested. Angie
  9. Hi, I have just done a 13 day intensive grooming course at the WA Dog Grooming and Clipping Academy in Perth and am now looking to work in a salon for 1 or 2 days a week in order to get more experience and to get my speeds up. Does anyone know of a salon in Adelaide or south of Adelaide looking for staff ?? Angie
