Amazing dogs & great photography Link to pics

I think that looks GREAT Freckles :p . It looks real...and that's always hard to achieve.
-
OK, here's my attempt on black
-
Umm, LOL, I just reread this & saw you wanted a dark background. Anyway, this was fun! Don't you think he suits being a beach boy?? I'll have a go at the dark background in a little while, it shouldn't be hard now that I've done all the extraction.

Here is one of puppy Shine with the grass she was laying on removed:

That looks AWESOME Freckles . Great idea for an OOB, the point is so sharp. It looks really cool.
-
I don't actually use extraction. In the photos I posted the only thing I use is Hue, Contrast, Burn & Dodge. OK It took me a couple of goes ( and I cheated & picked a short haried dog) but here is my first attempt at removing a background using the above: Thanks SAS ! I love learning new tricks. and another, I know I overdid the white, but I kind of like it

I just did this for my friend who is sick (Noah is her favourite)

I don't actually use extraction. In the photos I posted the only thing I use is Hue, Contrast, Burn & Dodge. Thank you! Now you've given me some new stuff to play with. I have only ever used Burn & dodge as an adjustment layer, I just had little play & can see the full power of them!
-
Hey SAS, how on earth did you do the extraction & still get the detail in the fur? They are amazing.
-
Here's the original. Which part are you wondering about?
-
WOW Harminee, you've been busy! Those are great, I especially love the penguins. Palane, you are getting too clever, selective colour & OOB . Great idea with the frangipani! Here's my project for today, I took this shot last year of Maverick's Mai & I've always liked it. I'm not sure about the background gradient though? I was trying to get the line where the line of the ground was, it was bloody hard.

I would approach it in another way. Try sitting down with the ball in front of you & a piece of food & teach your dog to pick up the ball & give it to you & reward with the food. Pick a word which means to give you the ball (like give). Then move the ball gradually further away until you can throw it & say teh command give on the way back. I have done this with all my BC's & fading the food happens fast as they get the game.

That's what I use MSOM. In the top left hand corner of the screen when you select the lasso, or magic wand or whatever you use to highlight the subject, there is a toolbox with 4 box icons. The 1st (probably your default) just highlights your 1st selection & only allows one selection, the 2nd allows you to add to that selection, the 3rd allows you to subtract from a selection & the last lets the overlap.

Herding (hills District,sydney)
Vickie replied to StormyroxTan's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
There are 2 options in Sydney right now. Erskine Park (Canine Complex) or Richmond (Hawkesbury Showground). Erskine Park is every Sunday 9-4, unless there is a trial on also Saturdays every 2nd week or so. I am going out tomorrow and have a calendar of training days that I can pm you if you like. Richmond, I haven't been for a long time but training is on Saturdays, 9-12 from memory? Feel free to PM me & I can give you directions if you need them. Vickie -
Todays project: Doesn't look much like photoshop...until you see the original: I used the Magic eraser tool, I only just discovered it yesterday...it's going to make things so much easier.

I should have said expert rather than teacher...the teacher bit was wishful thinking. (I was meaning Chloe's Dad) Thank you Abbey B. In all honesty, I think my photography has improved a lot & the better quality you start with the better the result...but I have a lot to learn about PS.
-
Harminee, that looks awesome! I am assuming the water was there & you created the ripples? It looks really cool. Hey Chloe's Dad...we don't need tutorials...we have our very own teacher right here on DOL. So how about some tips? Your work is certainly something to aspire to. Maybe you could set us some challenges & help us do them?

I'm on a roll! MUST DO HOUSEWORK! MUST DO HOUSEWORK! MUST DO HOUSEWORK! Last one... My first real attempt at merging 2 images:

There are hundreds of them here: Photoshop Tutorials

You probably have to look at what "anxious" is. It's a pretty broad term. I would think it would be hard for any breeder not to produce it somewhere, especially when you take recessive traits into account and I guess they need to use their discretion on whether it should be bred on. I think it's certainly possible in the working breds. If you take 2 biddable dogs & breed them, even though neither one is particularly anxious, the double dose of biddability could certainly create a dog who is so biddable that they become anxious about doing the right thing. But that is a different dog to the one who is anxious about thunderstorms etc. I think genetics are extremely complicated and once we start to add learned behaviour in, it would be very difficult to pinpoint traits & exactly how they came about. I guess it makes sense that if we see a lot of anxiety in one breed then it stand to reason that it will be continued. I often wonder this about Shelties. Many of the ones I see in Australia seem to have anxiety issues & yet in the US, they do not to the same extent? Maybe popular sire syndrome?
-
I think anxiety, just like any other trait can be carried in recessive genes. I am fortunate enough to know the parents & some of the grandparents of my girls well. While I can pick individual traits in each of them from both their parents, I would say that each of them actually share more traits with their grandmother than their mother or father. I can even pick working traits in each of them that are more like their GM than M. I know I have shared this before, but it's interesting as far as recessive traits. Trim likes to suck on things, like a blanket, similar to what kittens do. Her eyes glaze over & she kneads with her paws. Shine does not. Family history is: Dog A yes Offspring 1 - No. Approx. half of her offspring do, even though she doesn't. Offspring 2 - Yes. Approx. half of her litters do. Of the 2 that have been bred, one does & one does not. I don't know the stats on the pups, but would assume it would be half again, both from the bitch that does & the one that doesn't.

Thank you...sounds a bit like me...I can never remember what I did afterwards. I don't use dry brush much...will have a play with it. Here is my latest OOB...I must confess, this one was a little ambitious with all that fur. I got a bit frustrated & rushed the extraction, but it's not too bad so long as you don't look too closely.

How did you do this one MSOM? What filter did you use? It's a great effect.
