Buying A Labrador Puppy- Advice Please
Baby Dragon replied to drifter's topic in General Dog Discussion
You will probably get some answers in here, but if you like, try the Labrador thread -
That's the best news Thank you for helping him!!

Not sure about the actual Guide Dog training, but I've seen handlers of Guide Dogs in both Victoria and Queensland using check chains on their dogs. So I'd assume they were also trained in these collars I've also seen a handler in Victoria using a martingale on their Guide Dog. I've also seen a couple of dogs working in head collars. These were all Guide Dogs, not Seeing Eye Dogs. So I guess every organisation is different, and probably uses different collars according to what the dog works in best.

I Am Never Walking My Dogs In This Neighbourhood Again.
Baby Dragon replied to Jimmay's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think having more dogs around there to get tangled in the situation could have made things potentially a lot worse. It sounds like it was very sensible to get the dogs out of there and then go back to help, especially as it was only a few houses away and there were already so many people helping. Jimmay, I'm so sorry that happened and good on you for going back and doing what you could, despite being (understandably) so shaken up. -
Giving Up Dog As Not Safe To Walk Him
Baby Dragon replied to loveleroy's topic in General Dog Discussion
Sorry if I missed it, I haven't read the whole thread. But are you going to take your dog to see a behaviourist? I think that would be the first step. -

I may be over reacting, but for peace of mind, if your dog has bitten a child, I would put a muzzle on him if you take him out of your property, at least until you can have him properly assessed by a behaviourist and get their advice about it. And as others have said, no off leash areas. You want to build his and your confidence back up by taking him to quiet areas, and perhaps having another adult walking with you to tell other dogs to nick off if there are off leash dogs there. -
Well done everyone

Thanks. She's her normal self otherwise. I'll watch her carefully though. Just kicking myself about how this could have happened. I'm so careful.

I'll take the one using the others as a pillow... so cute!!!

My dog pooped out a big pile of cling wrap today. No idea when she ate it because no food has gone missing that I can remember... Does anyone know how long it stays in their system? Do I need to take her to the vet or do anything else now? I've always been very careful with cling wrap around them but will be extra careful now.

Giving Up Dog As Not Safe To Walk Him

I haven't read the whole thread, but I can highly recommend Steve at K9 Pro as an excellent trainer - for both people and dogs! He worked wonders with my dog and me, and showed me what to do if an offleash dog approaches us. I realise you're in Vic, but I travelled a 39 hour round trip, and then another 16 hour round trip to see Steve and I can tell you it was well worth it. -
She looks lovely in her collar and leash I have the premium 6' leather leash (2 actually) and a standard leather 4' leash and I love them!! I was worried about getting them wet, so I recently bought the K9 Pro police leash. It's cotton with rubber, so I don't think it matters if it gets wet. It's also really good if you need to give a correction, because the leash doesn't slip through your hands as easily.

Thank you for posting the picture! More please

The group that helped rescue those two dogs is accepting Paypal donations [email protected] Apparently they're finding a lot of dogs with zip lock bags attached to their collars, with notes inside with owners' details. Some of them have money inside too.

What a lucky dog to have found you

More pictures please! I think we need individual puppy pictures showing which puppy is which, and maybe some videos? I like to dream and go "oh I'll have that one thank you!" Just going by the names, I think little Charm would be my pick if I could I would love to see how you do the early neuro stimulation for the puppies one day. It's something that really interests me, it makes sense that there would be huge benefits to it and it would give them the best start! I've heard that a lot of service dog organisations in the USA who breed their own dogs do similar for them too. ;) There must be huge benefits! Aaahh labbies ETA I just stalked checked out your website for more puppy pics!!! They're so beautiful :D

Pooping On Patio!
Baby Dragon replied to krystle_chino_tira's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Has it been raining there a lot recently? My dog will occasionally poop on the concrete instead of grass if it's been raining and he doesn't want to get his paws wet. -
Shampoo For Golden Retriever
Baby Dragon replied to Nadine83's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Aloveen. They have a leave in conditioner, so in between baths you can brush a little bit through the dog's coat and it makes them smell really nice. My dog is a guide/assistance dog so she can't have a doggy smell, and I've found the conditioner works really good for that. She gets bathed every couple of weeks and I use the conditioner once in between if she needs it. But as others have said, for a pet, I would bath the dog as little as possible (unless it's a flea/tick rinse that's needed.) Use a damp cloth to clean muddy paws, face, around ears etc between baths when needed, and brush the dog. -
Cluck cluck Me too!! Congrats Tapua!!!!! They're so gorgeous.
