  1. Bloss and freysmum.. you had BOTH better post pictures!!! Edit: freysmum, you did awesome on Phoebe, she looks GORGEOUS!
  2. lol.. I'm not sure I did so well if I scared you off clipping Benji hehehe Good luck!
  3. Thanks I think I will end up getting a Doggyman or Stylemaster Ultra Soft... I'm just trying to figure out if the Stylemaster will be any good - it's fairly cheap, not much more than I paid for the supermarket one... so I'm wondering about quality. I may end up with a Doggyman. I started the thread you suggested, asking for more ideas. I can't believe you get a whole shopping bag full from your mini poodle... lol.. I can't imagine how much you'd get from your standard...
  4. I have a Labradoodle with a really thick coat. I bought a supermarket Slicker Brush, thinking it was the right kind, but I think it's way too harsh on him and he hates it. I'm looking for recommendations of good, soft Slicker Brush and comb brands... so far I have heard good things about the Doggyman brand. Are there any other good brands that people can recommend? I'm also wondering about a Stylemaster Ultra Soft Slicker Brush - they are less expensive than Doggyman, has anyone used these before? Thanks heaps
  5. Thanks PW and BC You're right, I am getting used to it... the fur on his back feels SO SOFT now... I know I mucked up his tail, but oh well. Now I will be able to brush it properly as it grows back and hopefully won't have any problems (it was matted from the time I first got him from rescue and although brushing improved it, I couldn't get it perfectly unknotted so I decided the fur just had to go lol) Question about the slicker brush... is it possible that I purchased the 'wrong' type of slicker brush, because it's very scratchy when I felt it on my arm. I was trying to see why he hated it, and it was suggested it could be hurting him. Are there different bristle types on different slicker brushes? Maybe I need to get the soft slicker brush from petnetwork. I am just really hesitant to brush him too hard with the one I have at the moment, unless that's how slicker brushes are meant to be? The bristles are made from a thin wire type material. Or maybe I'm worrying too much? Thanks for the tips about the clippers... I didn't realise that going with or against the hair growth would make a difference in length lol He was a pain to clip... seriously... his coat seems to grow in every direction, and the coat on his back was SO THICK, as is the coat above his tail. He is seriously like a sheep! Although it's very cute, I am never going to let his coat get that long again. It took like, 2 hours all up to clipper him! He looks so much lighter and cleaner and he feels softer now Much respect to poodle owners who clip their poodles themselves!!!!
  6. I think that Poodle wrangler has been left speechless
  7. It's ok.. I'm still laughing too Yeah, I ended up having to do the tail... it got to the stage where a brush just wouldn't go thru it... maybe I should have scissored it instead though lol Oh and his head isn't even because there was a big knot and I had to scissor it out. It's a bit heart shaped now... I can't believe what I've done... lol And I got enough wool off to make a jumper, I'm sure of it
  8. Remember he's not finished... but I think I did too much already
  9. lol... he's nearly bald... but ok... gimme a sec... just for you and Poodle Wrangler because you asked... By the way, he's not finished YET... the clippers got too hot, I'll finish the tail and legs tomorrow... although I can't imagine it will really make a difference lol...
  10. Interesting... Does that mean the EPH expands more in the stomach? Or just that it has more nutrients and things your dog needs in less kibble? I've never actually looked at directions lol... I'm terrible. I just followed the menu plan he was getting before I got him.
  11. You sound just like his trainer... hehe.. there must be something in what you're saying. I understand the pack leader thing... I know I know.. *hangs head in shame* I just didn't know how to do it, physically I mean. He is way strong and I'm tiny. No excuse though, I probably shouldn't have tried by myself. I just got a bit enthusiastic
  12. lol.. it was GOING to be the bath before clipping. He wouldn't get in the bath!!! Got him in part way and he jumped out again
