Bad Wheezing / Snorting Sound
Baby Dragon replied to mrs tornsocks's topic in General Dog Discussion
My Lab was sneezing a lot in general and had reverse sneezing http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...=179750&hl= I ended up taking her to the vet and it cleared up fine with the medication. I think it was caused by dust. -

I have an assistance dog and I've used a few different leashes. My favourite is a thick nylon six way leash. But I use different leashes for different situations. I've never found that the leash contributes to access issues, but the breed of dog certainly does. Can I be of any help? Thanks for the offer. The access issue is that there is an issue over public access in Vic. the look of the lead is for her not the access if that makes sense. What is a 6 way lead? What kind of public access issues in Vic? I have friends in Vic who have assistance dogs and they might be able to advise her. There are certain requirements that need to be met for the person and dog to be covered under the law. Is she with an assistance dog organisation? A six way leash has a clip at both ends and several rings going down the leash, it's adjustable into six different lengths. You can have it as a short leash, or unclip it as a long leash, have it around your waist or over your shoulder and there are other options.

Cats In The Reception Area Of The Vets
Baby Dragon replied to ruthless's topic in General Dog Discussion
Our vet used to have a cat that would sit in the reception area, trying to scoop fish out of the fishtank to eat!!! -
Thank you :D

How short can you get your dog's nails? I Dremmeled their nails tonight but wasn't sure how much shorter to go. I've had people explain to me the different layers in the nail and what to look for, but I'm not totally confident with that. I thought I might be able to get it so I can't hear their nails on the hard floor when they walk. Is that a reasonable expectation? We're not there yet.

Nail Clippers, How Do Dthese Work?
Baby Dragon replied to Bundyburger's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I hate clipping nails more than I hate picking up poo! Get a Dremel -
I got one from a friend, and I bought the other from ebay. As to how to put it on, here's a great video that shows the Roadie elite and basic
-
This is how the Roadie elite looks The part that the seat belt threads through is folded up and clipped in these photos.
-
I have both designs of the Ruff Rider Roadie (basic design and elite design.) One has clips and the other doesn't. Personally I think I prefer the basic design best. I find it easier to put on the dog and take off my dog. I also like that the seat belt threads through it more easily than the elite design. I've done 14 hour trips with my dog in his Roadie, he was totally fine. It let him lie down, sit or stand up. But if your dog's really big he might not be able to stand up in it. It's designed to be comfortable for them for long trips
-
Hi SecretKei, if you're getting a proper dog seat belt, then I wouldn't use a short leash to attach it. It would take away any safety benefit of the seat belt. A Ruff Rider Roadie attached via the human seat belt would be the way to go in my opinion.

That documentary was amazing. Thanks for posting it!

The church groups around your area might be able to help? A lot of churches have volunteers that go out and do things like this for people.

I'm really glad he's ok!

If you decide to adopt one of the pups, I second the idea of the Volhard puppy test. Info and instructions http://www.volhard.com/pages/pat.php This is how it looks in action http://www.youtube.com/results?search_quer..._type=&aq=f By the sounds of it, you'd want a pup that scores mostly 4s on the test. I wouldn't go for a pup that scores any 1s or 2s. But keep in mind that the test is only an indication. There are many factors that will influence how a pup turns out temperament wise. Like others have said, I think pet insurance would be a good idea for the new pup.

Raw Food /non Kibble Feeders
Baby Dragon replied to all that glitters's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We mostly raw feed and for the vegetable component we use Vets All Natural complete mix. It has a lot of the nutrients etc in it already. For the RMB part, we feed chicken 5 days a week, canned mackerel once a week (it's not raw though,) beef kidney once a fortnight and beef liver once a fortnight. Sometimes we feed roo tail instead of chicken once a week. I like this way of feeding because there's no way I'd be able to keep up with doing the vegetable part myself. -
I'm interested in learning how much it costs people to feed their dogs. Obviously there's a lot of factors, like the size of the dog, age and what type of food you feed. I'll start Breed(s): Lab X Age: Adult Food: VAN and RMBs Cost: $2.40/day (Approx. $1.40 VAN and $1 RMB.) Breeds(s): Lab Age: Adult Food: VAN and RMBs Cost: $2.40/day (Approx. $1.40 VAN and $1 RMB.)
