Brooke: That sounds like anxiety, not love.

I know how damaging GA's can be to some dogs, she wasn't well when she came into care and i felt they were putting their paperwork issues before the dogs wellbeing. (and the fact that they didn't want to have to chase it up down the track, a phone call once a month to check on her is all it would take.) I feel like they were taking the easy option so they could rehome her and forget about it. The easy option would have been to rehome without checking for desexing and to wash their hands of any consequences. There are rescues that do that. To me "no rehoming without confirmation of desexed status" is a threshold issue for differentiating responsible rescues from the rest. They did the right thing. A sick dog shouldn't be subjected to veterinary treatment OR rehomed btw.

Muggles: Did the vet have ultrasound equipment? Not all of them do.
-
Surely they could ultrasound her to see if she still has a uterus. She might not come into season for months.. and then in a home that has little knowledge or capacity to deal with a bitch in season. I have had a handler in my obedience class that had no idea her bitch was in season.. it happens.

Did she tell you that it mustn't be stored and has to be made fresh for every application?

There a range of Omega oil supplements you can buy for dogs. Be sparing with the coat oil - a little goes a long way! Plush Puppy Seabreeze Oil is another good one. Just stir it into the warm water, pour over the dog, work all over body and legs with your hands and dry.

Before you fly a pup (I assume its a rescue) that you've not seen all that way, ask yourself one question. What's the fallback position if for any reason the pup doesn't work out.. will you have to fly it back again?

Another scratch maybe? You can use human eye drops on dogs. I'd be keener about using those than a home remedy. Make sure anything that goes in an eye is sterile.
-
Most uses of cold tea for eyes apply it externally to reduce puffiness. I'd be very cautious about introducing it INTO the eye. A red eye is inflamed or infected (or both). What sort of condition are your dog's teeth in. When my older girl's eyes start playing up, is usually a sign she needs them scaled.

I'm not sure what the appropriate dose of fish oil would be. You certainly shouldn't be feeding cod liver oil daily - salmon oil would be OK. Coat oil is basically a cosmetic grade of oil used to moisten the coat. Even baby oil does a pretty decent job but use it sparingly. A small squirt in a litre of warm water and pour over a bathed and rinsed dog. Don't rinse it out. Makes a smooth coated dog shine like crazy. Or you can use a shampoo that has oil in it like Groomers EPO. That's what I use and it does a great job.

I'd suggest a trip to the vet. Conjuntivitis can often be a symptom of other issues.. dry eye, allergies etc. No point in treating the symptoms if you're not addressing the cause. Personally I would not recommend you put ANYTHING in a sore eye without veterinary approval. I'd certainly not be using cold tea

Keep the papers in a safe place and use your dogs ANKC registration number, date of birth and other required pedigree details to complete your entry forms. When you wish to apply for a title, you forward the papers with the title application.

You can amend his diet to get shine going from the inside and add a very light touch of coat oil to his final bath rinse too. Adding Omega oils 3/6/9 to the diet is usually beneficial to the skin and coat.

And if you'd titled it "Most common breeds and crosses in the region" you could probably have named the same dogs. Go figure.

I understand Tarope's caution. The Rottweiler is one of the breeds noted as being particularly susceptible to parvo. If I had Rottie pups, I'd be pretty damn cautious too.

I think Deshonko Kennels may soon offer this service. I"ll do it based on a photo of the dog and I bet I'm as accurate as the BITZA test.

I suggest she phone her vet. I'm pretty sure that vaccs are effective within 72 hours but it would pay to check. I take my pups out from when I get them but not to public areas frequented by dogs.

Yeah, we hold off on the bitch slapping until outside the ring. Got my entry no today Diva.

That's an "it's just up the road" sort of show :p :D Same here. Anything 2hrs or under we call a local show. If it's a double or triple we'll travel to Adelaide or ACT but at this stage that's about it. Too scared to do Sydney cause I'm a bit of a stress head in traffic Getting to Erky Park is dead easy SW.. motorway nearly all the way.

As soon as possible! My dog was done at 6 weeks.

I have Andis two speed clippers. No complaints here. :D Only issue I've had is the cord attachment breaking. It was a cheap fix.

I was concerned they may not have rec'd my entry, but if no numbers have come back yet I'll relax. I'll check if the cheque has been cashed tonight.
