  1. What would happen if you smeared the front of the fridge or a cupboard door with something he likes.. I've heard good reports of that method of distraction.
  2. Bugger Staffords, what about Hound results. :D Sway needs to beat her minions more often.. they're tardy today. hmmm, OK what about the hounds? I know my place....... Same judge and you were first so hopefully you'll get rewarded soon.
  3. He does buck a bit like a bull during the process, PF :D My kitchen area is only about 1.5 metres wide and a couple of metres long. The kitchen/lounge is open plan - the 'U' shape of my kitchen benches separates the kitchen away from lounge and I find this area the easiest for the same reason you've mentioned. Bathrooms have things that we'd both probably crash into. Laundry even more so. Toilet? Is there anyone who could help you?

  5. Cattle crush. :D I would be doing this in the smallest room of the house.. not much scope for escape and all surfaces are wipeable.
  6. Unfortunatly I have looked into this option as it was my most perfered.. (OH had the final say) Our council is VERY VERY strict and anything with a concrete floor needs building approval. Ive spoken to them and they have said that the application is likely to get rejected because of where we need to build it... I am trying to work around these issues. At the very least if they approve the application without questions, it takes an average of 3 weeks, longer beacuse of the easter break.. Clay pavers may solve the issue.. lay them over gravel.
  7. As I edited my post to reflect though, they don't expect the dogs to do these things without human direction. Your situation is quite different. You could have runs up this weekend .. but clearly you need to think about putting down a concrete slab is digging is an issue.
  8. I'd be giving your mobile no to all close neighbours AND putting it on their collars. But I'd be giving building runs a priority. I'd no more try to teach a dog about roads (and expect them to heed the teaching at all times) than I would a toddler. Clearly Guide Dogs manage to get the message across but I've no idea how they do it and those dogs are under humand direction when they work.
  9. The dog got out of the yard Aussie.
  10. Honestly? No. All we can do is contain them and control them. Sounds like you need properly constructed, roofed runs for when you aren't home.
  11. I am so very sorry for your loss. Run free Gerky - you lived a lot in your time here. :D
  12. Really? Even though they have accepted funds and have a contract in writing? How old do you think the pup would be by the time the case was heard in court? Have they been offered their deposit back? Yes they have. It's no less devestating though. thanks for the input poodlefan. It absolutely sucks. But these things happen. What breed are they after.
  13. Oooh I got such a rush from that post Italmum.... I'm thrilled to bits for you. Good luck for Sunday! Don't worry about renaming a dog - they adjust very quickly.
  14. Offal should never comprise more than 10% of a raw diet. Can you feed chicken livers/giblets down there?

  16. Frankly? Nowhere. Tell them to cut their losses and try again.
  17. Oh wow you're a Belgianite too! Stunning breed. I was tossing up between another Belgian or a Pointer. Actually found another English Pointer breeder over East and she's been really wonderful. I have two liver boys to pick from and one is defiantly mine. He arrives in 23 days hehe. I much much prefer this breeder to the first, so I'm VERY glad the first one fell through!! Even though it sucked at the time. Have photos of both boys but won't post until I know for certian which is mine. The one I want is show quality but has a non show tail .. called a flag tail .. so we just have to see if that corrects itself, which it probably won't. Hopefully for me, his tail stays incorrect hehe, as I'm not showing. So what happened to the grey Terv you were definitely getting BB?
  18. I honestly think that a call to the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club of Victoria would be time well spent. For the Pet Referral Service Phone 1300 850 844
  19. Thank-you ! Do you know if it is it okay to take flaxoil and fish oil ? I had never heard of kefir, but will certainly remedy that I never thought of avocado either - that woud be an easy answer. thanks again Brigitte Well they say flaxseed oil should be fed in rotation with other oils so I'd be alternating them. I doubt a dog would digest avocado well.
  20. So you've rung about all the younger dogs advertised? You've spoken to Christian's breeder (who won't rehome him without meeting his new family?) Yes she was the lady that i spoke to when i was looking for an older dog, we got on great...and she said she would contact me in a few weeks if she decided to put him up for rehoming...she then advertised him the next day..and i have not heard a peep from her. Ring her up!!!!!! She wouldn't be the first person to lose a phone number.
  21. In a situation like this, a call to a hollistic vet might be a good investment. There is at least one grain free kibble I can think of - but its very high in protein.
  22. So you've rung about all the younger dogs advertised? You've spoken to Christian's breeder (who won't rehome him without meeting his new family?) Kids or not, in some breeds the right dog doesn't just fall out of the tree in front of you.. you have to really hunt for one. I was where you were two years ago. It took me months of looking to find the right pup.
  23. Where is she from? How did you find her? What's been her life up to now?
