  1. x 2. Howie was a colour that I didn't have a preference for but I love it now! I don't have preferences in poodles either but white is a lot more work to maintain than black.
  2. Someone should ask the insurance companies. I can't see any lining up to issue policies for owners of dangerous dogs. The best insurance you can have is good socialisation, training and containment.
  3. The instinct to mate when in season is one. Phantom pregnancy can produce "nesting" instinct.
  4. I've seen it happen when dog fights start - people are literally stunned into immobility. Not fun for you. I'm glad the dog didn't do anything more serious
  5. Cosmolo's the professional so follow her advice. No reason why you can't get the barking sorted while they sleep inside and then return them outside.
  6. Personally, I think there's a difference between the odd early or late meal and a completely unpredictable schedule. Ask yourself the obvious question - is what you're doing now working for you?
  7. He gets two small meals each day. Some labrador breeders said not to feed them at the same time each day. It varies. My husband feeds him anywhere between 5:30 and 7am. At this stage we are feeding him to stop the barking. I know this reinforces the bad behaviour, however we don't know what to do. We tried ignoring him but he just keeps on barking! I'd be trying a large evening meal as an experiment. Dogs thrive on routine and consistency. I don't see how mucking about with meal times will help you. Have you considered crate training?
  8. Sleeping them in crates would stop the trashing. As I see it, the fact you've fed him to stop him barking has reinforced the behaviour. To stop it, you need another plan. When are they usually fed?
  9. He does sleep outside with our Golden Retriever. They have a large dog kennel. We've had to bring him inside now that he's barking. It must be food he's barking for. As soon as he's fed. He's quiet and we don't hear another sound out of him! So if he sleeps inside does he still bark at 5.00am?
  10. I'm guessing your dog sleeps outside? How do you know its food he's barking for?
  11. I think a finger under the chin adds a nice touch!
  12. I think it's nice you are bringing the curtsey back to the show ring. Weird. But nice OH NOOOO!! all I can think of when you talk about curtsey is Shirley Temple !!! do you have a roooolly big bow in your hair PF ??!! fifi No but I can always get one. I should probably wear a skirt too I suppose.
  13. I think Mr Collicut liked my thank you curtsey when he gave Jas RCC. Pity the other houndees had to tell me to get my butt into the ring with her!! It's worth paying attention when you've got a 2nd place getter in a class and they're doing Challenge.
  14. Worried about people running into star pickets and things in rings, but that's a different topic. CC It wasn't a proper ring CC - just an area being used for judges training. I was too busy looking at the Greyhound on the lead and only looked forward at the last minute to miss it.
  15. I'm really pissed they discontinued the Adventra.
  16. Colour genetics hurts my brain.
  17. Ah, yup. But you can put all your stuff in one and wheel it into your spot at the trial.
  18. I've kicked a lot of Group 3 breeds' tyres over the years. I love Gundogs. Not sure they are right for me though.
  19. Not in the USA it ain't. Just checked the AKC standard - blue and longhairs still disqualifying faults. We are progressive here in Aus They are following the FCI/Germany for Weis I think? Dunno VCBR.. I've just exceeded my Weimy breed knowledge
  20. Not in the USA it ain't. Just checked the AKC standard - blue and longhairs still disqualifying faults.
  21. I've got the biggest Bunnings trolley and I can't see it carrying the crates unfolded. You need some show trolleys!
  22. It's a disqualifying fault here too. Any breeder deliberately breeding for any disqualifying fault would be one I'd not be interested in buying from. I thought the AKC had overturned blue and longhairs being disqualifying faults but maybe not.
  23. You're unlikely to get hands on with a Mini Poodle or get a breeder's full attention at a show - show coats need careful handling. Better to visit poodles in their breeders homes!
