  1. If you know the breeder's name, Dogs VIC may be able to assist with providing the prefix.
  2. Thanks for the support,I will give her less.Yes,i really wish and hope there is another option rather than put her through surgery, seems too cruel, she love life, but I would not keep her because of my love for her, also don't want to be haste and make the wrong discision, this is hell, all I can do is think about her. No, not less. HALF My vet says this is entirely safe for dogs that need to lose weight. Bindi needs to lose it fast.
  3. Yes,I don't know who? where?,don't want to give this vet another go too afraid of the consequences for Bindie,So very distressing I can't eat sleep just cry for her.Feel & look like sh-t .Not earning ,but I would spend my last dollar on fixing Bindie,I really need sound advice asap, don't want to put her out of her misery if there is some-one...some-thing I can do,she is so accepting, have her on Lambs wool & electric blanket to look at her just kills me....I feel helpless.I will put her photo on as Avatar, see how beautiful she is.Really doesn't look fat.I blame the Breeder for this,OMG what of the others there were 6 in the litter. I think you need to calm down, get a specialist opinion and get the weight off your dog. If what the vet says is true, she is obese. Responsibility for that rests entirely on your shoulders. Deal with that first and see what happens. If she was a fat pup, then that won't have helped. Blame won't either at this point. Get that weight off.
  4. I also think you need a specialist opinion. With weight off your dog, there's always the chance that surgery may not be necessary. Halve her food. She needs to eat a lot less and fast weight loss will benefit her.
  5. did it stop you loving and keeping this dog? What's that got to do with anything? JMLD did not get what she paid for. That's the issue here. In most states selling a pup without papers is a breach of an ANKC registered breeder's code of ethics. If they're prepared to breach that rule, it makes you wonder what other ethical standards have fallen by the wayside?
  6. The easiest way to get your dog to eat dry food is to stop messing about with it and ensure they have a good appetite. Why would a dog want to eat kibble if picking all the other goodies out of it satisfies their hunger? If your mum continues to offer alternatives, Dora will continue to wait for them. Have a word with your mother. Measure out a portion. Feed it plain. If she refuses to eat it, pick it up after 10 minutes and offer it again the next meal. She'll soon get the idea.
  7. Perhaps your next dog will provide you with the opportunity to educate others. If you want to talk about irresponsible breeding, that's a very different discussion to advocating purebreds.
  8. I'm a great believer that the best advertisement for purebred dogs is a well bred, well mannered purebed owned by someone who's prepared to talk to people about it.
  9. Jackie: I think all you're going to do is piss off someone who'll become another person who regards regard purebred fanciers as "elitist snobs". Suit yourself I prefer to educate buyers rather than castigate sellers. If you're sending an email that's likely to be poorly received, then you are implying the owner of the website agrees with you. I'd not do it. That is different to providing a link for purely information purposes.
  10. Personally Jackie, I'd not bother. They're not doing anything illegal and I don't see how taking the high moral ground with a complete stranger will encourage them to do anything other than give you a serve. You should definitely NOT link them to any website without the owner's permission.
  11. Hopefully not without a site owners permission.
  12. If the pup IS registered, the buyer should be provided with the pup's papers as proof that they are the registered owner of the pup or so that they can transfer the signed papers into their own name.
  13. Wire coats are a very common (and not often advertised) result of crossing another breed with a poodle.
  14. Ditto. BC/poodle is another possibility.
  15. Even with limited (as opposed to full) registration, you should still get papers. There's a difference between paying a premium for a show quality dog and not getting any papers at all.
  16. Perhaps it is simply a case of the breeder knowing that I am situated in NSW, not QLD. Are you saying that any dog that is to partake in trials, etc...has to have reg. papers from the breeders? (not sure what you mean exactly). What about mutts performing in discipline? Until quite recently, DogsQld did not accept non-papered dogs in its performance events. They do now but I think there's a lifetime maximum of two Associate (non-papered dogs) per person that will be accepted. All other states accept non pedigreed dogs registered as Associates but that still rules out most performance events at breed specialties. Were both parents on full register?
  17. Kirislin: Better one dog with a cracked rib than the other dog dead. Shit happens and 20/20 hindsight is a wonderful thing. My guess is this won't happen again because you won't let it.
  18. what? I didnt say that I purchased her for half price? it would have cost me an extra $200 if I wanted full registration. I am certain that the breeder was indeed registered. My main concern is that the breeder health checks her dogs and knowing how prevalent heath problems are in this breed I am more than satisfied. sorry, it was Stef that said that.
  19. If you bought the pup without papers, are you certain the breeder WAS registered? Nearly half price for no papers sounds fishy to me.
  20. I would suggest you read the side of the packet and decide for yourself. Remember that cereal is a filler and pretty much ends up on the back lawn. Personally I don't feed my dogs any kibble that contains gluten and Supercoat has it.
  21. A lot depends on the individual temperaments of the dogs and how you manage the integration. A young GSD could make a more passive small dog's life a living hell, not to mention inadvertently hurting it. I"d be figuring out separate areas for when they couldn't be supervised. Personally I think it's easier to add the small dog into a household with a mature larger dog.
  22. Dogs can string themselves up in fences without human intervention. I've seen it happen. People need to to contain their dogs for their safety and that of others. Geeze when will that message sink in?????
  23. I think you need to get Deshonko Kennels onto that one, PF will make a packet just in time for Sexpo doing the rounds around Australia. *takes notes* Mind you, I don't need to get my hands on Wazzats dogs - I can do hairless pups in 30 minutes with Nair.
  24. He may have talked up the DDs but he owned purebreds himself. I gather the DD spruiking was payback for purebred breeders failure to acknowledge his superior knowledge of their dogs and how breeders should be organised. I think he managed to alienate his neighbours in the Southern Highlands and paint horse folk too. All the charm of sandpaper undies.
