  1. Actually, you ARE leaving the crossbred part of the equation out and have done so in both this thread and the one in News. So "implicating" crossbreeds isn't detrimental but IDing two other breeds is? Once again I fail to follow your logic. You do understand that Mr Linke does NOT support BSL don't you?
  2. Moselle: That's the largest quantum leap of logic I've seen in quite a while. From a comment speculating as to the possible ID of the attackers to concluding that the comment means staffies or mastiffs OR CROSSBREEDS (cos you keep leaving that bit out) are to be held responsible? Get real. You're seeing things that simply aren't there.
  3. On your next edit of the original post/poll Moselle, you might like to correct the spelling of Mr Linke's name in the thread title. It's always polite to spell people's names correctly.

  5. He also pointed the finger at crossbreeds Moselle but you seem to have forgotten that. He did not say what the breed was, he said what they might have been. I think you need to build a bridge. Try getting YOUR state RSPCA CEO to say something positive about APBTs.. now there's a mission.
  6. Health food shop. If you can't source it PM me. I'll send you a bar. I buy it direct from a producer. ETA: Here's a link to a kiwi producer. Buy a plain one - no fragrance, no colour.
  7. There will be some challenges but the fact that you're asking questions upfront means you won't be blindsinded by them. Biggest challenge will be adolescent Lab and unstable toddler. That can be managed by supervision and separation. Train this dog well. Teach him not to mouth, not to jump and to go to a crate or mat and your life will be a lot easier. Teach him to walk on a loose lead beside a pram and it will be a pleasure to take dog and child out for an airing.
  8. Yep!! To bainsdale Show?? For all three of the shows that weekend.. yep. Staying in Nicholson. I came last year too. It's not that much further to Bairnsdale from Canberra than it is from Melbourne. The Canberra brigade tend to do agility trials in Sale and Bairnsdale too.
  9. Strange, I never thought it was "petty" to suggest that those who seek to honour the stars of yesteryear might do so without sending some from the ring without ribbon or recognition. But there you go.
  10. Why not be proactive rather than paranoid? Do a flyer for your immediate neighbours. Drop it in their mail boxes. Introduce yourself, tell them you have a dog, are concerned that it doesn't create any issues for them and provide your work and mobile phone numbers for them to contact if they have any concerns about its behaviour. You cannot pretend to know what sort of noise your dog makes when you aren't home -never say never. Provide a method of communication that won't need to involve council or neighbours silencing a problem they believe wont' be acted on otherwise. The best defence your dog has is you stepping up and letting neighbours know you will act on their concerns.
  11. Aaah but I suspect one of these Borzoi may be Finn's new girlfriend!!!! So hands off Howie Finn's crush isn't Howie's favourite Borzoi girlfriend (the red head) so no blood needs be shed. Howie would win any fight easily - by about 500 metres. :D
  12. Lowenhart: Surely if dogs can still "cut it", they can be entered in Open or Ozbred? I read the aim of the author's post as wanting to see dogs who can no longer cut it get a chance to relive their glory days. They shouldn't have to compete to do that IMO. They should be acknowledged for their contribution in a manner that sees each dog recognised, not just place getters.
  13. Try giving her a gingernut biscuit about 15 minutes before a trip. Some owners of car sick dogs swear by them. There is also a bushflower essence you can use for travel sickness.
  14. I think it would be nice if Veterans was only ever a parade, not a class. If people want their veterans to be special, then they shouldn't have them competing against each other and have winners and losers.
  15. 1. Buy a crate and put her in it. 2. SLOW DOWN - this sounds like car sickness to me. 3. Take her on lots of very quick trips and work up to longer ones. 4. Take her fun places in the car. She needs to associate the car with good things.
  16. I've seen this before. Puts me in mind of an old Injun saying: Can anyone reconcile these two excerpts?? AND If you need other people to make your old dog feel special, you ain't trying hard enough IMO. We should treasure the oldies every day, not just on a show day. Clearly I am made of stone.
  17. What did her breeder recommend? Labs are the best food disposal units known to nature. Most will eat till they burst. If you can feel her ribs under the flat of your hand, she's about right. See the ribs? Feed more. Can't feel ribs? Feed less.
  18. I think some sort of trampoline bed would probably be the go. Add a wool futon when puppy gets past the chewing phase.
  19. Like people who call one of them the Wombat on Steroids?
  20. My guess is that he's reading the pups as submissive and taking advantage of it. Sounds like some recall work might help too! He cannot hump a puppy if he's not allowed that close before you recall him.
  21. I wonder if something like proper (unadulterated) goats milk soap might be the go.. or a no detergent shampoo.
  22. Unless its a council (local) restriction, its news to me.
