No reason why your supporters couldn't have posted Moselle. If they'd really wanted to support you, I'd argue they'd have done so. Fact is, they choose to let you defend your position alone. I don't call that very supportive. It takes all types; such is life! On that issue, we are in complete agreement. -
You are scaring me! *clings to you* *Peels KTB off* Geeze, there are dog owners here who run rings around me!! All I can say is that there is a heap of good advice here, some of it from very novice dog owners and the best way to sift through it all is to verify what you're reading through other sources and don't try anything that makes you uneasy. The best example of that is "home remedies" for ailments. Some are brilliant. Others...

KTB: Even those who've raised a heap of dogs may have managed with more luck than science KTB. Years of dog ownership don't always equate to superior knowledge.

Rescue Requirements For Puppy School Attendance
poodlefan replied to Jacquiboss&scoop's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'd agree with this advice... until then, you can make yourself the bees knees with your new pup at home in a controlled environment. Another word of advice - be choosy about the obedience club you go to too - some of them aren't exactly perfectly run either. T. By 16 weeks, the first peak socialisation period has been and gone. You don't get a second chance at it. If a pup has access to other dogs and gets to meet a heap of people, before last vaccs that's one thing. Far too many go nowhere, meet no one and pay for that lack of experience for life. -

So the R$PCA is opposed to BSL is it Mr Linke, then why did the R$PCA lobby the Federal Government to bring BSL into being in the first place ? If the R$PCA is opposed to BSL, then why are they not lobbing the Federal Government to have BSL abolished ? I think we know why don't we. Moselle, Don't worry mate, some people can't see the Forrest through the trees. The Federal Government isn't responsible for any BSL other than the one that bans four breeds from import. All other BSL, esecially the legislation that sees dogs seized and destroyed based on their breed is STATE legislation. There is no BSL in the Australian Capital Territory - which is where Mr Linke is CEO. It is perfectly legal to own an APBT here and there are no special requirements for the dogs to live here. There has been a change of policy on BSL at the national RSPCA level. What they're doing about overturning the breed import ban is uncertain but to be quite frank I can live without dogs the size and power of Dogo Argentinos and Presa's in the hands of idiots. -
KTB: You'll rarely achieve consenus on anything here. What's 'right' for one dog and owner may not be 'right' for others or all. Sometimes trial and error in the only way to find out. p, It can be almost impossible for a newb here to differentiate between the opinions of novice dog owners who've raised one pup and those who speak from a range of experiences. Advice that sounds authoratative may not be. When you can sort the wheat from the chaff, you'll probably be able to sort out what advice you should be listening to. Those who argue for the "old ways" of dog raising might like to reflect on the life spans dogs achieved in those days and the frequent occurence of rickets in pups - a condition rarely seen these days thank God.

Rescue Requirements For Puppy School Attendance
poodlefan replied to Jacquiboss&scoop's topic in General Dog Discussion
How many of those dogs were not given the best of starts in life and were separated from their littermates too early? Not all puppy schools are alike. There are some very good ones around and if a pup has not had ideal socialisaton experiences with dogs and other people, I'd be BURNING a path to the door of a good one. -

As long as people hock up the cash for one, they can make any sounds they like. -

You seem unable to grasp the fact that most of the respondents to your posts have repeatedly expressed the opinion that they don't think those breeds (don't forget the crossbreeds now) were blamed. Moselle, you are entitled to hold any view you choose. However you can hardly expect people to remain silent when you appear to have formed it erroneously. Its the fact that you have interpreted what was said as blaming two breeds that people are taking issue with. What happened to those guns? -

poodlefan ....... but is it non-allergenic and non-shedding :p Naturally.. AND it looks great in those leather studded harnesses that seem to appeal to those who like the Blue Oyster Bar style of dressing their dogs. -

Moselle - It's a debate on a public forum. You can't bloody well argue and stress your point to someone whom AGREES with you. I have my view, you have yours, everyone else has theirs. You seem to be in the minority on this one hence the reason why it seems everyone is "barraging you with questions" I dunno about that. Bloody DeShonko dogs :p Should have known Ah yes... the Pitoodle.. think I'm on a winner with this mix. -

How do I know? Because I've met Mr Linke and spent time specifically discussing the BSL issue with him. That leads me to conclude that I have a better informed view of where he stands on BSL than you do. SK: I dunno about that. -

Reactive (not Aggresive) Dogs
poodlefan replied to Lucy's mama's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Until you have control of his behaviour, I'd be giving agility a miss. Its a very stimulating environment and dogs will (or should) be training offlead. How's he going to react if an offlead dog runs up to him? -

Moselle, I fail to understand why: * you'd take a reporters view of what Mr Linke said as gospel - its not like you heard him comment yourself. You don't know what else he said and how selectively he may have been quoted or even misquoted. Anyone who has dealt with media knows what people say and what journalists report don't necessarily match. The fact of the matter is you're interpreting a media report and have no idea about the intent of Mr Linke's words. It doesn't seem to matter to you at all that the local RSPCA did not put the boot into pitbulls. Believe me when I say that your local RSPCA CEO would have done so in steel capped Doc Martins. * you continue to use a second hand report of a statement to infer conclusions that you cannot support. * you are so heated about this. -
Reactive (not Aggresive) Dogs

From my limited experience - (my dog and my friend's) the answer is YES. Things can improve but it does require you to manage and desensitise your dog to new dogs. My first piece of advice is don't get him so close to other dogs that he feels the need to lunge.. cross the street if you have to to give him more distance. -
Poodles' Coat Poor On Nutro
poodlefan replied to poodle proud's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I brought Artemis and have never cleaned up so many runny poo's, it went straight through my poodles. Which one Mish - I haven't had this issue with my tribe but they are all on Seniors. -
You know, I didn't shed a tear in the "veteran's" post in the show thread but this sure produced the goods. What a wonderful tribute to a clearly treasured dog. What a wonderful chance this boy was given to live out his days with dignity and love. Run free Ray. My sympathy to your family Nic - Ray has clearly left a big hole in your hearts.

Some dog owners don't have a clue.. they think any growling or mouthing from a pup is "aggression". Right or wrong, the owner sounds best avoided. I feel sorry for her pup though. ;)

Poodles' Coat Poor On Nutro

Osca is 5.5 yrs and Midnight is 1.5. I am looking for a food they could both eat because they eat each others food anyway. Ive tried separating them but then they won't eat ;) Can you give a senior formula to younger dogs? They use it for fat dogs but you could feed an ordinary adult one to dogs of that age. Royal Canin make a Poodle food you could try. You might also think about adding an Omega Oil supplement to their diet. -
Great minds Clyde... or some other dodgy story.

What breed of dog are we talking about Cadburygirl.. I just have a funny feeling......

CG: Trust me, sometimes that deposit turns out to be a very cheap lesson learned. There is no way in hell I'd take on a pup rather than forfeit a deposit and frankly I"m not sure the breeder has the legal right to keep it.
