Yes, I know the actual size of the teacup size breed. The one we had was somewhat weight 5-6 kg. bigger than conventional size. He enjoy short running & cycling with us. German Spitz (Mittel) might be another one to look at lattepom. They seem a very nice dog.

Of course you can!

Hi many thanks for the info. Me & my wife only live in medium size house with small back yard. As we used to enjoy walking & cycling our previous dog. We intend to keep a dog again with the same type of activities. Also, we would want a small dog. What sort of of breed would you recommend? Cheers If you do the research and still like the Spitz breeds, the Japanese Spitz might suit. They're a bit larger than a Pom and probably would cope with the exercise better. They can be vocal so you'd have to be on top of that from the word go. And they only come in one colour :

I would have removed every skerrick of carpet from the house (currently planning that) I would have crate trained them all. Only the youngest got that from the start. I'm happy with how my dogs have turned out but I'll admit that with the older two that's as much about luck as my (then lack of) knowledge. I'd definitely recommend ANY dog buyer find a good dog club and attend regularly. It's not just about the training but the friendships and the support of like minded folk. It's the best way I know to get your dog a social network too. I took my first dog to my club because I thought all dogs needed to be obedience trained. That's one view I still maintain.

One reactive dog. Totally predictable (and therefore manageable).

Quick Question - Agility Dog Walk
poodlefan replied to westielover's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
No. Not ANKC ones anyway. -
This was something that came to mind for me too. The pair of us just about 2 weeks ago were watching SPCA Houston on Foxtel & they found a dog starved to death in a backyard. The autopsy revealed that the dog had eaten a full corn of cob & it got caught & obstructed the passageways. The poor dog having not being given vet attention passed away. I spose at least although nasty business a bowel obstruction is something I believe is usually treatable. Depends on how fast they diagnose it. If the obstruction is not diagnosed quickly and causes necrosis of the intestine, the dog may not survive. A DOLer lost a young Labrador in this manner.

I'd be checking thoroughly for a bowel obstruction.

poodlefan replied to LadyS's topic in General Dog Discussion
so wen the bann came out they didnt try to move the shows to a states wea they are not banned...pritty sad alryt!!..:D That only leaves one place - the ACT. There isn't a breed club here for them and they aren't ANKC recognised so it wouldn't be much of a show. -

Hotfurball: Actually, I think it reinforces it. Police dogs are not pets. They are not socialised as pups to view all strangers as friends and they certainly aren't expected to tolerate uninvited approaches from strangers. -

I could be drug dealer or shoot someone and probably get a lesser sentence than that. -
Congratulations!

No, I'd not be upset about that either.

You can't get camel??

If his body was possibly full of drugs like bute or steriods, I'd not be wanting to eat it. Ask yourself what sort of drugs the trotting industry uses. Plenty of off the track standardbreds end up as pet food. Horse meat for pet consumption doesn't have to pass the same strict testing that it will for human consumption. If you have no choice in the animal you feed your dogs, then at least make sure its not going to do them harm.

Pfft. Howie has two supermodel girlfriends and got to do a little "wrestling" with one in the sunshine on her mat. What else could a whippet want for? Trifle for lunch? He got some! He does love the bitey face game with the glamorous Russian supermodel Miss Jasmin. If a hare had run through the ring and he'd managed to get after it, it would have been a perfect day.

I've heard of quite a few apartment dogs trained successfully to toilet in the shower recess - from a hygiene perspective it is area that is easier to clean than most. How about throwing a towel in there?

A lot of people regard horses like dogs - historical companions and servants to humans. They are lovely animals. From a more pragmatic perspective, the transport and slaughter of horses makes a lot of horse lovers profoundly unhappy - there is nothing to recommend the practice from an animal welfare perspective. The horses that currently end up slaughtered are often the old, the sick and the unwanted - hardly "prime" animals from a consumption perspective. In other countries it can be different - some horses are raised (notably draught breeds) specifically for slaughter. If the health and welfare aspects of the trade in horse meat were resolved, I'd have far less issues with it. As it stands, I can't see my dogs eating it anytime soon. You'd be hard pressed to feed it on the bone for dogs of the size I have anyway and my dogs eat next to no meat without bone.

I've got the plastic steps with the sherpa cover that Deals Direct sell. Linky is here When I first installed them for the older poodles, the only dog that would use them was the Whippet pup.

Poodles' Coat Poor On Nutro
poodlefan replied to poodle proud's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Had a moment. The issue might not be food related. Brittle coat and thinning hair can be a symptom of thyroid issues. If it persists, get a blood panel done. -
Comment Made By Rspca Chief Executive Mr. Michael Link
poodlefan replied to Moselle's topic in General Dog Discussion
As has been said, he has a lot of support locally.. even from some that wouldn't otherwise give the RSPCA the time of day.
