I'd rather see no dogs in the window to be impulse bought.

See if you can get the handlers of a mature male Min Pin and the same in an Amstaff to volunteer to replicate that one BB. Some would be fine. Others..

Nice earner I'm sure most police forces would like the same deal.

Angelsun: So this is every terrier and every dog used to spark up a terrier in a line up Anglesun? Sorry but you are just plain dreaming. If there's ever a ring you watch your dog to keep it out of the close proximity of others when passing its Ring 2. I've seen and heard enough terrier handlers asking others to move their dogs away to know that a significant proportion of them don't share your optimisim about their dogs friendliness with strange dogs, particularly when both are entire males. I may not have been in the game for decades but I keep my eyes and ears open. I read the aggressive dog reports in the Canine Journal too.

Someone at work has a CKCS/Poodle mix obtained from a puppy farmer. After weeks of skin issues including hot spots, its finally been diagnosed with mange. Poor little bugger.

But she is not trustworthy in term of bench surfing. There is a simple solution adopted by dog owners everywhere... get all food off benches permanently. God invented microwaves as food stores you know If the behaviour is not rewarded, it won't escalate. If you don't want to close off access to the kitchen then food removal is the way to go.

Angelsun: Did you ever consider that what you've learned and what the dogs on the "receiving end" interpret this behaviour as may differ? I'm there to have fun and to show my dog to his best advantage. However I don't expect other people or their dogs to be cheerfully disadvantaged by my idea of "fun". Vive la difference I suppose Just don't expect shows in urban areas to last long if everyone decides that their dogs should be able to bark to display their "animation".

Fair enough. Make sure that you are fully aware of and equipped for the management of a bitch in season. If the idea of showing the bitch is to later breed from her you need a very clear understanding of how many litters she is to have and how long she will need to be entire. A friend of mine took a bitch on breeders terms and the dog remained entire until 8 years of age.. that's a long time to have to manage a pet that's entire.

DeeLee: An ESS (or other similarly coated dog) has a double coat. I have ESSs visit my house on a regular basis. If grooming isn't kept up, they are hairy beasts!! Leave the dead hair on the dog (as opposed to stripping or clipping) and you'll soon think you own a yak. Even the head gets hairy. Of course the working line ESS's have far less coat but arent' as common as show line dogs. Here's a sample article: Linky And another linky

' Ask him if the same applies to the parents of pet shop puppies. Puppy farm dogs deserve good homes too. Every sale from a pet shop keeps two dogs in misery.

The odd spray of water or swim to keep the curls neat. You don't clip them.

Maybe the Royals need to reconsider how many entry passes you get with your number. Folk might do well to take a friend so that their dogs are never left unattended. Either that or chip in and hire their own security guard. Or provide secure benches and its BYO padlock.

We could toss the Curly Coated Retriever into the list for consideration. Nice dogs!

If this is your first show dog then I'd advise you to reconsider taking a dog. If your heart is set on this breeder, then you really don't want to have to take the second best bitch. I'd wait to see what was on the ground before making any hard and fast decisions about colour and gender. Take the best dog (of either sex) you can get. If one colour predominates in the show ring and you're taking the other colour, you may be in for a challenging time in the ring. Personally I think you'd be far better off owning the dog outright and showing to your agenda rather than the breeders. Unless the breed is rare or these are the lines you have your heart set on, I'd be shopping around a bit too.

deelee: You were misinformed. Any of the Spaniels (except the IWS) requires stripping OR clipping unless you want it to be a matted mess. They don't look like the ones on the pet food ads without work. Most pet spaniels are clipped a couple of times a year. If she's a gundog lover then a Brittany (no clipping required) might be one to consider.

Being Prepared - Where Can I Find Goats Milk?
poodlefan replied to Tapua's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Stolz: My dogs do too. My toy poodle can't stomach cows milk but is fine on goats milk. -
Go to Pets Domain. They have the Hills & other premium foods on special every second week, big savings. If not in stock they may be able to get it in for you. One at Gepps Cross, Gawler & not sure where else, google ? A friend of mine swears that the Hills B/D made a huge difference to the life of her aging Border Collie. I won a bag of it at my vet's seminar on old dogs last year. My old boy certainly liked it. My vet said that it wouldn't help my younger boy Darcy in the IQ area though.. ETA: Vet Products Direct sell it direct to the public for around $90 a bag. No idea on delivery costs though.

Very true FHRP. If you really want a surefire "show prospect", best buy an adult dog!
-
Some breeders have told me that they make their first assessment when the pups are "wet" (just born) and the next selection at 8 weeks. Obviously the longer you leave the selection the more certainty there is. This is why some breeders will "run a pup on" until its older before making the final decision. I gather its a fairly individual thing but a lot of folk say that from a construction point of view, an 8 week old pup is pretty much going to show you how it will be as an adult.

Are There Any Fenced Off-leash Areas In Melbourne?
poodlefan replied to James Bond's topic in General Dog Discussion
You can join as a member and register your dog as an Associate. Given that VicDogs members are paying for the facility, it seems only reasonable that if you want to use it you become one. -

Tick Treatment , What Do U Reccomend?
poodlefan replied to springdog's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
As I don't live in a tick area and only use prevention occasionally, I opt for the nuclear response. I use Advantix spot treatment AND Proban tablets. -
Fret not Fifi! You've still got fear and intimidation in your repertoire. Make sure to turn your Wolfie round and bait off the Group 5 dogs. oh lordy, I read that as BITE OFF !!! I do feel sorry for the dachies if there isn't a breed between us.....big hairy beast breathing heavily behind the wee mites !!! fifi Hope you give them a good head start before following into the ring!

Great news! Find yourself someone who makes pig dog breast plates and get a Whippet sized one! Not a bad idea, I have been trying to think of how to make his jacket more like a body armour, I could help owners of other tissue paper Whippets if I came up with one Make sure the outfit includes a neck brace. On the UK Whippet forum, an owner loses a dog to a broken neck every few months.
