God forbid we should actually cause the deaths of the animals we eat. Perhaps if more folk killed their own, there'd by less abuse of animals in intensive farming situations. The more people connnect with the animals they farm, the less likely they are to abuse them IMO. Last century thousands of suburban Australian mums kept and killed chooks for the table. Frankly I fail to see the issue with it.

Rare Special Needs Breeds In Pet Shops

Just BYBers who produce a bloody challenging cross. -
I'm planning on tieing mine to a lure coursing lure. ;) I've got a whole frozen fox in a bag in my freezer atm - don't ask. :D For this: But with a poodle? Basil is on ice for tracking work for FHRP. I'll have his tail when she's done with him. Dog people are a crack up - FHRP got a call from another dog friend to say she'd spotted Basil freshly killed by the side of the road and did she want him. Home he came in a garbage bag and is in the dog food freezer in my garage. Maybe we need stickers now - CAUTION - VEHICLE MAY STOP FOR ROAD KILL If there's a fresh bunny or duck I'd grab it.

Poison, traps.. all pretty hideous stuff IMO. I prefer a quick death, even if it's not as clean as some would like. Mind you, I'm a sighthound owner AND the owner of a very effective mousing Poodle.

Moselle: Not by anyone who knows anything about pig hunting they aren't. The pigs are shot once caught and held. No hunter worth a damn wants the animal ripped to pieces or valuable hunting dogs risked for nothing. Fox hunting sees the fox dispatched by the dogs and live animal coursing is the same. Both incidentally are banned in Australia. Both IMO sure beat a slow death by strychnine or 1080.

Holy Shite DC, I've only just realised who you are!

Size matters Bub - we all know it.

Yep, they're fine. Don't tell your OH what they are though or his eyes will water when Bub goes to town on one.

Why? Foxtails have free postage at the moment from memory - bargain! Because you can't get stuff sent from the US and only buy one item, you NEED to buy one of the talking birds, the zap ball, the cheap wubbas ($8.95!), the stuffing free fox.... Clearly you subscribe to the Poodefan Theory of Economics. I can highly recommend the Skineez Raccoons too by the way

At the end of a three day weekend they are downright RIPE!! I'd not want a fly from one of those bins to make it onto the judges scones with jam and cream.

Mine wasn't.

Rabies Vaccinations Prevent Culling Thousands Of Stray Dogs
poodlefan replied to Boronia's topic in In The News
Normally I would say the same thing, Poodie, but think about young Indonesian soldiers firing off guns in crowded villages (I assume they use the army for culling over there). Not a great visual . They don't have to shoot them. Humanely trap and PTS would work. -

I can hear it now "just like white Golden Retrievers'.. -
ST: Is "spirited" a euphemism for "need to know the handler is prepared to kill them"? No bloody wonder some security dogs attack the handler at the first sign of weakness.

And when there isn't a man around, then what? What you think is your opinion and you're entitled to it. You don't have to hunt if you prefer not to but suggesting that other women shouldn't is rather outdated IMO. There is no longer any such thing as "men''s" and "women's" jobs. I'd argue that in reality there never were. Women have been providing game for the table since the dawn of time. God knows without all members of a family contributing to the table, we'd probably have died out long ago. I have no more problem with women hunting than I do with men embroidering. Polecatty: Absolutely! Annie Oakley didnt start out as an exhibition shooter. If that little girl hadn't picked up a gun, she and her family would have starved. A woman does what a woman's gotta do to get the job done.

Mitigation means factors that reduce the severity of punishment. Not applicable to damages claims Not every breach of the law is a criminal offence - to be "criminal" an offence has to be indictable ie. prosecutable before a judge and jury and/or punishable by 12 months or more imprisonment. Walking your dog offlead in an onlead area won't get over that bar. As I said, steer clear of the legalities - its a minefield. Oh and don't bother calling Legal Aid for help with a claim for damages. Head straight for the Small Claims Courts.

Pick up the toys. Go back to toilet training 101. It might be marking behaviour but I'd be restricting the dog's unsupervised access to the house.

Any One With A Golden Retriever , Or Advice,
poodlefan replied to mgeyer's topic in General Dog Discussion
Are you sure you weren't adopted PF mgeyer, good on you for taking in the dog. Sometimes I wonder. -
Well folks, spring is here and the flies are back. This brings me to one of my pet hates at dog shows. Can we all please encourage folk to use bags to pick up and dispose of dog poo? It makes the bins a lot more pleasant to be around, reduces the risk of faeces or fly born disease transmission and has got to make it more pleasant for those who deal with the rubbish. Frankly I've never understood why some exhibitors toilet their dogs without carrying bags with them. Looking around helplessly or walking hundreds of metres to pick up a ringside scoop seems a bit useless to me. If its good enough for your average pet owner to bag and bin, I reckon showies should be able to handle it. I know I'd sure appreciate it. Oh, and dropping the bags next to the nearest gazebo to pick up 'later' isn't on either. My preference would be for show organisers to get rid of the scoops and to provide rolls of poo bags for use. Makes for a faster clean up in the ring too.

Rabies Vaccinations Prevent Culling Thousands Of Stray Dogs
poodlefan replied to Boronia's topic in In The News
Dumb arsed queston of the week: Why don't they just assist the Balinese to cull the dogs? Getting a severe bite from a stray as a kid is pretty serious whether or not the dog has rabies. -
Treats were Kramar Chicken somethings..

If you read this forum you'll find its very common for members to ask questions about products of other members. Personally I prefer to seek the views of those who have no commercial stake in the products they recommend. I doubt that as a consumer that makes me unique.
