Personally I find it a tad disturbing.
-
I'd say it would be best not to count our chickens before tomorrow. The prediction of up to 100mm of rain in the area will create chaos methinks.
-
I have a "terrier" for grooming the poodles. Howie only just fits on it and its higher than I'd like (for him). He tends to get groomed on the laundry bench or on his trolley at shows. I'd go standard.

Buyer beware of buying anything from Clean Run that contains animal or vegetable product because 9 times out of ten it will get confiscated by Australian Customs & you might even end up with a fine I've bought fur from Clean Run without issue. Anything tanned is usually OK.
-
Its the same brands usually - Safari or Champion. Howie is my first show Whippet so I'm hardly an expert but I've picked up some good tips along the way.

x 2 I'd be having it checked out NOW and if a vet was familiar with the breed I'd go as far as necessary to see them. Its not like you have to leave the city to do it either. Have the pup checked out. You need a hands on opinion and it may be something that's easily resolved now as opposed to being left and becoming more serious. I'd not be allowing this pup to become involved in any rough play with your older dog and I'd certainly be deadly keen to avoid having her jump down stairs. Its begging for trouble in a baby puppy of a giant breed.

Pity its illegal for your average citizen to own it here

Don't bother unless its capsicum spray or a fire extinguisher.. you'll be wasting your time. Two on one is damned hard to deal with. I'd be going in boots and all. I'd also be screaming for help, even though you'd probably be unlikely to get any.

Oso: I've never bothered to chalk chest or tummy but a block would do the trick. I bought my little goats hair brush from a horse shop. It was sold as a 'face brush' for horses. I use a little shiney stuff down the top line (Garnier Smoothing Serum would you believe!!) but that's it. Some folk use a sheepskin grooming mit (horse shop again) to finish the coat. I just use the goat hair brush. This is the Garnier stuff I use (recommended by another Whippet exhibitor). I do my hair on show days with it too. Very small amount in the hands, rub hands together and smooth down topline. It dries without making the coat stick together. The CC Cover Up Creme used sparingly would cover that pink bit. Most folk just use chalk though.

That depends on a lot of issues. If they're being sold for a bomb with a bunch of statements about what they'll be like and the mix isn't stable, then its potential heartache. If you like that look Yoshi, there are existing breeds with a range of temperaments that might suit.
-
If I wanted a dog with those looks and a more predictable temperament, I'd buy a Keeshond.
-
Simple answer - do you wish him to dictate pace or do you want to do it. He's only going to get bigger. Teach him to walk on a loose lead regardless of what pace you are doing.
-
Sounds like a another designer dog to me: From Wikipedia: Given that breed mix, I wish them luck stabilising temperament and type. Nothing about what I've read makes me want to rush out and get one. They aren't a recognised breed anywhere and I've never heard of them being here.

Huh? I thought he had a stroller now?
-
I prefer long walks - we get further away from home and they see new sights. However with a couple of my dogs aging now, I expect I will have to take the seniors on their own shorter walk.
-
He's always liked Advance - left his food at FHRP's place to scoff her dogs' kibble. I wonder if he was raised on it - must ask his breeder. As I'm trying to get weight on him at the moment, anything he's willing to scoff he gets. Wish I had his metabolism. I might just have to mix up what he gets. Not a bad idea anyway to not solely feed one brand all the time I reckon.
-
Howie's not crazy about it. I tried him on the sample and he hoovered that but he's not really going for it now. Advance Active on the other hand.

I'm not a vet and I'm not telepathic. I have no idea of the health issues Roxy faced, nor of the decision making process that led to her euthanasia. The only person I'm prepared to condemn based on the available facts is her owner. RIP Roxy. You deserved better.

A warm bath and a Zoom Groom should see a lot of hair removed.

Pewithers: They guard in a place they've never been? Under the physical control of their owners? Having been trained and socialised to tolerate handling by a judge? Honestly if you thought your dog's temperament wasn't suitable for the show ring, why on earth did you exhibit it? Lilli has said here before that some of her CAS are simply unsuitable for exhibition. That's called knowing your dogs. Don't blame the judges for eliciting responses from your dog that you appear to have been expecting anyway.

The cover up creme is a very thick creme - I use a touch on Howie's nose but its too thick for large area coverage over fine hair. When I use block chalk I apply it directly to the dog (haven't used a pre-chalking creme to date) and then lightly brush it into the coat with a goats hair brush. I way prefer the spray - quicker, good coverage and once dry, it stays put. I aim carefully and brush it out of any areas it shouldn't be before it dries. Howie has four white legs so my aim doesn't have to be very good. I don't use it anywhere else. Have the dog on a towel for doing feets or you end up with little Whippet rock art paintings on your trolley top.

Fingers crossed the way remains open to Wagga - that's where we're staying.

Okay for a complete novice like myself, what is chalk helper and can you just use chalk by it's self and what would you do with fairly hairless Whippet legs??? I use PP Whitening shampoo as well. Oso, the Ring 5 spray chalk is awesome on Whippy legs! Fawn and white Whippets are I prefer to show my boy without the pee stain he gets on one leg being visible - hardly cheating IMO.

This represents a significant choke hazard. I'd remove it. I would recommend a professional trainer help you with this and I see you've asked for recommendations. Whereabouts in NSW is Agnes Banks? Is that Sydney. I wonder if trying her on a no pull or ordinary walking harness might give you a new start. How is she with being touched generally?

My guys do the head tilt whenever I go through the ring tones on my phone.
