luckypup: Makes me wonder if the dog actually saw a vet at all...

What that got to do with anything? You are bringing pit bulls into a discussion that has nothing to do with them. It was a sarcastic joke against the media Read more versions siks. I've read "mauled" and "face ripped off" in a range of reports of this incident.

No, lack of supervision and ignoring a very basic rule about dogs, kids and food got that child bitten. Whilst that IS the owner's responsiblity, lack of training is not the issue. Clearly you've never owned a resource guarder siks. Count your blessings that you haven't but don't kid yourself for a moment that its down to your superior training.

German Shepherd Fights Off Muggers In Canberra

This happened to me one night. I was walking 3 Rotties in the park and was approached by 3 stoned guys. They were aggressive and I was very frightened. The 2 Rotties who I had always assumed would protect me were disinterested in the men but my sooky la la boy who runs the other way from confrontation stood in front of me growling and started lunging at the end of the lead barking at the men. Thankfully they bolted when they realised I had Rotties with me. I was amazed that my boy was so protective - he was the last dog I thought would have stood his ground. Wow they must have been Really stoned!!! Or roilly roilly stoopid. -
Um, not really. Give us a hint Paps.. colour?

Then I am truly stuffed without Google. Beauceron??
-
Meanwhile back at the question.. I'm reduced to wild guesses as I've declared myself google-free in this competition. Black Russian Terrier?
-
Hey nothing's :D in this thread. I was accused of being not very nice on here the other day. Its a nasty pastie.
-
I was thinking Rottweiler but not sure about the last part of the question???
-
Ooh forgot completely about Xolos. I was thinking perhaps the German Spitzs and the "Pinschers" might be two others. Your go Paptacular!!
-
Looks like we need to dust this one off for today. I'll start. Name a three varieties of dog that come in three separate sizes (each a separate breed) I can think of two certainties and a couple of arguable cases.. that should liven things up!!

Got Told That I Do Everything Wrong With Sasha Today

Aussielover: The BC that plays with my Whippet is smart. She stays on the inside of the circle and cuts across to head him off. My friend's Kelpie gets very frustrated trying to herd an animal that belts around him in a circle. He does the "kelpie stalk' and Howie goes into mad zoomies of excitement Howie gave the Whippet treatment to a dominant young SBT we met on the local oval a while back. It found out that its somewhat challenging to try and posture and dominate a dog that's twice as fast as you are LOL. All the owner could say was "I've never seen a dog go so fast". I think Howie wasn't even in warp drive. ;) -

Next time tell him to go watch his Cesar Milan DVDs and leave you the hell alone. ;) Young Howard has the charming habit of leaping about and barking excitedly when a dog approaches. I must remember that I'm not dominating him enough when he does this. ;) On the other hand, it has detered a couple of rushing dogs to have a mad Whippet woo wooing at their approach. ;) See, whatever works for us hey? Personally, I love a woo woo'er My Chloe is a woo woo'er too! Its situational too. I can walk Howie at shows and the dog club on lead and he's a lamb. In the 'burbs, with an approaching dog he gets sooo excited. I dropped his lead one time when two dogs came in hard and he zoomied so much around them they decided to leave. ;) -
Does the RSPCA advertise itself as "no kill". If it does its news to me.

And the problem with that is ???? Its a challenging behaviour for an owner to deal with, its bloody hard and sometimes very expensive for even a dedicated person to manage it. Putting a committed fence jumper out into your average suburban back yard is heartbreak waiting to happen.

German Shepherd Fights Off Muggers In Canberra

Good Doggie!! At least one of those offender descriptions should add "walking with a pronounced limp" ;) -
I think that IS a valid reason. If it's the difference between a dog getting walked and a dog not getting walked, I think that is a valid reason to use those tools and make it easier. There's a difference between the ability to teach someone how to train their dog to LLW and the ability and willingness of the person to actually follow those instructions consistently. Amen to that. Anything that sees a dog get walked (as opposed to never leaving the yard) is a good thing IMO. Of course that sad thing is that its really not that difficult to train a dog to walk on a loose lead with the right method. It's even easier if you start pups off that way.

Tollers were the last to get offical recognition but not the youngest, Chessies are actually the third oldest Flatties predate Goldens don't they??
