Wise words as always. Agreed, we probably should not be discussing the incident. However I would like to wish Shezz's little lad a full and speedy recovery. He must have been very frightened poor boy..

I can not for the life of me get Gus to come near a running hose... when he was younger he used to bark at the running tap, his gotten over that and will now drink from it but i cant not bath him for the life of me... it ends up with me wetter than him, and my face red with rage because he doesnt sit still...... I must say his a lot better then when i first atempted it but god i wish it was easier..... anyone have any suggestions? I can only bath him outside as well so its a little cold, I use warm water though to make it a little easier for him. Ziggy puts his head under running water. He even goes underwater in his pool - it is so funny to see. If it is mud, his whole head is under again.. he loves water. My old stafford did to, Ollie would make a bee line for the sprinklers at the park every time we were down there and they were on (even the day before he was given his wings, he was bouncing in and out of the sprinkler)... Warm water makes a big difference to bathing dogs IMO.. Treating for sitting still - we go through heaps of treats for the fosters when they need a bath (I am yet to get one that likes water like Ziggy does)..

Zig just sits in the shower while I shower him but he likes the drying off part.. Then it is out the back for find dirt to roll in.. Funnily enough he loves his clam shell pool and mud puddles but the shower is pure torture - you can see it in his face (he is never sure he will survive it)... I think that is why he is so happy to be dried off - he survived the shower ordeal.

Oh sas, I am so sorry to hear of Dante passing. Rest in peace Dante...

If an animal is at high probable risk go having parvovirus, it needs to be quarantined and not come into contact with any other animals. It will also need to see a vet ASAP... Let the vet know you are coming so you can use an alternative entrance so as not to put any other animals at risk... Keep an eye on them for symptoms.. Lethargy, runny, bloody poo...
-
I think we know our own dogs behaviour best and as you are still concerned, maybe a vet visit is in order... Vets know what they are feeling for when checking tummies etc, so they pick up things that most pet owners miss... I hope he is feeling better soon.

There is only one way to find out and that is to try it. My lot have Nutro and Dr B's with bones as their diet and they are in awesome condition, so it obviously agrees with them.. They both woof it down, but neither seem to be fussy eaters...
-
Thanks, I have added this to the water and see how it goes... They are both in disgrace today as they got onto the new lawn and dug up some of the new turf that we have just put down... Cheeky buggers are now banned from the grassed area unless someone is with them...

Would You Feed Treats A Random Dog At The Dog Park?
Staffyluv replied to ❤LovesPoodles❤'s topic in General Dog Discussion
No I wouldn't feed treats at a dog park unless the owner said it was OK... However, I realise that not everyone would know that this is not the done thing in the dog world (like those of us who frequent dog sites etc), so I am fine if someone gives my dog something in good faith that it is not toxic or anything.. I would then ask them not to feed him... But I certainly wouldn't make a big deal out of it.. -
Congrats... You must be so proud.

I have a male and a female (both desexed) here at the moment and it is only her urine that is doing it. They are on exactly the same diet... Nutro kibble, barf patties and a bone or turkey neck.. That is pretty much all they eat apart from training treats (and again, I use the same treats for both)... I will get some of the rock things and give them a go... Thanks

I have only ever had male dogs and never really had this problem before but the last 2 fosters have been little girls and where they pee on the lawn it is burning it off.. Is there anything I can do to counter this? Thanks in advance.

PM cNr, her Rotty Sophie had the same thing.. She treated with chemo and holistic and Sophie lived a decent amount of time, pain free...

I had a chi do it to my new runners once. His owner tried to tell me that he likes me... I told him he needs to learn that is no way to make friends...

Pippa has another interested family.. With a 2 year old Stafford and 3 kids... I am going to take her for a meet and greet on 22nd April... It is weird but I keep telling everyone all the naughty things she does instead of how very sweet she is... I think secretly I want to keep her but I know I can't.. I will put some updated pics in to show how much she has grown and how incredibly beautiful she is now... She is going to be an absolute stunner when she is full grown...
-
What a a cutie... Looking at that last pic, he has some growing to do to grow into those paws...and the ears...

I am so sorry Mantis - I know how much you loved Kenny.. Hopefully he runs into Ollie dog at the bridge - they can keep each other company...

Bison The Rottweiler And His Lymphoma Battle
Staffyluv replied to DerRottweiler's topic in Palliative Care Forum
Happy to share what I can.. Ollie's cancer was very different to Bison's but I was the same as you... I asked heaps of questions and researched, researched and then researched some more... I don't think I stopped learning about mast cell cancer the whole 6 years Ollie was with me... Glad to hear he is doing so well with the treatment.. -
Smacking Aggressive Dog, What Does The Dog Think?
Staffyluv replied to sallyandtex's topic in General Dog Discussion
I agree with all,of this.. No point addressing and trying to correct something that happened before... I use the leave it command and then let's go.. So far so good but we have been pretty lucky in our meetings with other dogs... -
I refer to the two I have here (my boy, Ziggy and Pippa our current foster pup) as the babies... I say to my son, watch the babies don't get into stuff while I am out and things like that but I don't actually think they are babies.. Ziggy is a total mud monster and loves to be wet and dirty. The more water and mud in his life the happier he is. Pippa not so much but she will dig occasionally. Ziggy sleeps on the end of my bed and Pippa sleeps in a crate beside my bed... This works for us but Pippa comes up for cuddles of a morning... Ziggy is not a big cuddle bug but Pippa is... They both love training sessions and will actually get the squeaky ball and bring it to me (one of the tools I use to get attention)... I am quite attached to Ziggy and we have only had him for about 6 months (pound rescue). I adore Pippa and will be sad when she finds her forever home but that is the way of rescue... I won't start talking about Ollie dog but it goes without saying I would have done anything for him.. Those that knew him and I know our story and how irreplaceabley precious he was and always will be to me... Dogs are wonderful additions and family members but they need to be able to be dogs..

Bison The Rottweiler And His Lymphoma Battle
Staffyluv replied to DerRottweiler's topic in Palliative Care Forum
Our vet and oncologist were the same to begin with.. But in hindsight, it I hard to argue with the fact that ollies cancer diagnosis was 12-18 months with chemo... With holistic assistance he lived 6 years.. The fact is, as I pointed out to my vet, I am paying for the test and the results, I would like that information shared with our holistic vet... Sometimes you have to stand your ground if that is what you want... I also offered to pay the cost to email or fax them to the holistic vet... Which the vet said not to worry about. I wish more vets were open to the holistic approach in assisting with conventional medicine... Holistic vets are not trying to take the place of conventional medicine but they can provide supplements that can help the patient while they are undergoing treatments. Ollie took Lymphrodran and anti-Ox as well as five mushroom drops, vit c and some othe things depending on where we were up to and his results... Change the diet slowly, maybe half cook for a week or so and then cook it all... Glad to hear he is back to himself, it happens that way, you think that they are fine then they get a bit flat for a day or so. -
I was thinking exactly the same thing...

Dr your holistic vet will know what supplements to used based on the cancer, the chemo protocol and the general health of the dog... You need your vet, oncologist and holistic vet to share all their test results with each other in the best interest of Bison... Our vet used to send all our blood tests results to our oncologist and our holistic vet each week. We also used cooked meat due to the bacteria that could be present while on chemo. I took his temp twice a day and we had bloods done to check white cell count before each chemo session.. Ollie had vinblastin one week, lomustein (sp?) the second week and a week off, at the beginning of the 4th week he would have bloods done to see if he was healthy enough to endure another 2 weeks of chemo again... Glad to see he is doing so well... -
The cardboard insert of the toilet rolls, the garbage bags and the cling wrap... My dogs had had more fun over the years tearing and chewing these than most other toys. The old empty coke bottle is a good one to.
