  1. A few years back on a flight I was asked to put my laptop (in a soft case) in the overhead compartment instead of under my feet. I protested but was assured it would be fine... Well it wasn't, it was damaged and as I didn't have travel insurance and could not prove that my LCD screen was not already damaged, I had no claim... I have a good camera bag and one of the lovely soft ones coming but I thought it might be prudent to get a hard case for travel that would be safe in the overhead compartments as carry on luggage.. Does anyone here have a preference or think one brand is better than others? I have been looking and there is a nice Vanguard hard case that looks really sturdy but then there was another brand that looked like a really, hard, bright colored case.. A bit funky but not sure.. With the recent purchase of the canon 7d and I am keeping the 400d, I have a 4 lenses and a fewotherbits and pieces and want to keep it all safe as they are not minor purchases (for me anyway)... Thanks in advance
  2. Thanks I will have a better look once I get it... Hopefully this weekend
  3. I am going to get lightroom as it sounds awesome.. What are presets? Thanks
  4. Six months have passed today since we gave Ollie his wings... I miss him...
  5. Norty, norty DOLers... Now I want a macro lens for the 7D... I love my 50mm 1.8, it takes the best shots...
  6. Sorry LM... It is never easy to lose them or to say goodbye... She will let you know when she has had enough...
  7. Oh he is just gorgeous... Congrats on yet another awesome save.
  8. I lose him completely, he would rather be with the other dogs.. He is fine with most dogs but for some reason when he encounters a shy dog, he gets all in their face and that is a recipe for disaster... Not to mention not fair on the shy dog... Effectively he is being a bully.. Which is odd because if bigger dogs get in his face he rolls over. He is non reactive if a dog has a go at him, he just leaves.. Which is good but it would be nice if I could just stop this unwanted behaviour... His recall and stay are really good here at home but non existent once we are out and I just don't know how to make him do it when we are out.. We are due for another session with the trainer and hopefully we can work on this next as he needs that off lead run as exercise.. Training at home in our yard even with ball retrieval is just not exhausting enough for him...
  9. Yep please.. I would love to know how to make them better (or me a better photographer)... My stuff is not edited in anyway as I don't have anything to do it with.. I did have an old version of photoshop but I can't find the rego code to load it onto the new laptop... So I will have to go buy something to play around with - any suggestions (I never really got the hang of photoshop, so figure it is more program than I need)... Lightroom is the best program IMO. I like your Otter ones, nice and sharp. I would crop the giraffe image so you don't get any fencing in it. I would probably ditch the Koala image because there's no eye in it at all, but...it is also kinda cute. It definitely needs to be lightened up, as it's a stop or two underexposed. Same with the Capuchin monkey, they just need some 'levels' adjustments. :) Thanks, it is always nice to have it explained -what I can do to improve... I am going to make a trip to the zoo in a few weeks and hopefully get some great shots to work with... I will look at Lightroom on the weekend.. It is what I thought when reading what is available... Thanks again, much appreciated..
  10. The cost is as much as you are willing to spend... I honestly stopped counting after about $15k with Ollie and I would do it over again in a heartbeat.. He was MCT grade 2 with no clear margins at multiple tumour sites. With chemo and holistic treatment he lived another 6 years... Chemo is not an issue for most dogs, they just don't give them enough to make them sick like they do with humans because the cost for a bone marrow transplant in dogs is out of reach of the average pet owner... Chemo in dogs is purely to get them into remission and is not used specifically as a cure.. Well that is what our oncologist told me at the time, it could be different now as that was 6 years ago... Honestly grade one is really not to much to worry about and is curable with treatment.. Grade 2 can act like a 1 or a 3 and grade 3, if clear margins are taken, can be a non event as well.. Moppets, jack had it a few years back.. I do believe they have changed the gradings since ollie was first dxd I know it is scary and the costs can be just as scary but if it isn't a problem, the dog is well and enjoying life.. I say go for it... You know they say a dog will let you know when they have had enough and I honestly didn't believe it until it was time to say goodbye to Ollie. That day he just looked at me and I knew it was time to say goodbye...

  15. Lovely pics everyone... Mine are on the laptop, so will post up a few tomorrow...
  16. What ever mix he is, it is pretty darn cute.. Look at that smile.. Congrats on your rescue.
  17. Did they look like that on the camera view screen? I have been having a big play with my new 7D and they look fine but I have not uploaded them to the computer yet.. Glad they replaced it easy for you...
  18. Just wow!!! Awesome... I love going to the zoo and taking pics there but mine are nothing like yours - just amazing.. I am going to love this thread..
  19. Nope, she spent the best part of yesterday and last night vomiting because of the car... Poor baby gets really car sick...
  20. THanks for that... The problem is that neither her nor Ziggy has been on any long trips, so anything longer than about 15 minutes in the car and they both get sick. Ziggy is better than he was - he couldn't even sit in the car for 5 minutes without bring up what ever he last ate...
  21. I let her have about half a cup of water every hour last night and she didn't vomit again... Seems it was probably just a bad case of motion sickness from being in the car for a while - poor baby. She is up and at it this morning, she had a light breakfast of a little chicken and a about half a cup of nutro and still seems fine... She is harassing Ziggy to play, so I am guessing the worst is over..
  22. No. No connection... These people didn't know where I lived and I didn't tell them.. They are also on the other side of Canberra. Nope Ziggy and Pippa are never left alone.. If I have no one to watch them they go up to our factory with my oldest son and the workers... The house we went to yesterday looked like the tenants had just up and left.. There was a lot of stuff still laying around the yard and it was overgrown.. It could have been anything from rent runners to people feeing for their lives... I didn't hang around, the neighbourhood was not my kind of place...
