Might be like pers suggested, anal glands, yeast infection or teeth. My old Stafford was over 14 when given his wings and even at that age, I could still smell his puppy smell sometimes but mostly his smell had always been the same.

I offer my dogs chicken broth when they don't feel so well. Sometimes I make up tiny chicken meatballs (just rolled up chicken mince) and add them to the broth to make it more appetising... -

If it is cool where you are a hot water bottle under a few layers of blankets might make him more comfy. We did that with our old guy a couple of times after surgery to get him to rest.. They have heated pads in the hospital and it seems to make them sleepier. I hope you get good news on his biopsy. -

How,upsetting for you. I don't know about after surgery but the only time my old boy drooled like that it was due to pain... Does your dog appear to be in pain? If so, maybe a trip to the emergency vet.. To be honest if it was me (and I am a major worrier when it comes to the dogs), I would probably pack them up and tale them in just for reassurance... I hope someone who knows comes in to answer you question with better medical knowledge -
What Do Your Dogs Do To Make You Smile?
Staffyluv replied to kitkatswing's topic in General Dog Discussion
He is who he is... Zig has quite simply been my saviour.. For those who don't know, we lost my husband and our 14 year old Stafford within 3 weeks of each other last October.. The house was so quiet, so I decided to foster, while picking up our first foster, we met Ziggy.. We bought him home as a keeper and we have had our trials but on the whole, he has helped all of us so much... He is a complete fool and has a very staffy personality (he is a cross of some sort but mostly looks like a big staffy)... I always thought I would get another purebred when Ollie left us but it didn't work out that way. I will have another purebred one day but for now I am very happy with my current boofhead.. -
Oh Pheebs, I am so sorry you are going through this... What a tough thing to do. I am sure you will find the best place for Lucy...

There are a few DOLers who go out to the Casey dog park on the weekends.. If you want to socialise dogs.. Check out the Canberra meet up thread in this section... As for the Christmas get together, we might know more after this weekend and D's birthday party.. Will keep everyone posted.. Hopefully we can sort something out that works for everyone.

Sorry I didn't mean to offend by suggesting I liked Ruthless Leather products.. I did say the other stuff was lovely and your dogs looked great... I thought this was just a thread about great leather collars.. Each to their own, I would just rather support an Australian business and I know there are others who like to also. I don't think it does any harm to have options...
-
Same.. They do play hard sometimes. Pav, now I need a stafford puppy - reminds me so much of Ollie dog when he was a wee tiny lad..
-
Love it.. There is nothing quite like a good old fashioned bitey face battle.
-
Wow that is really cheap... They look so adorable in their new collars to. I just really love the Ruthless stuff - the feel of the leather is just amazing.. I am saving for a new lead - the longer way lead..
-
Yep, I totally recommend Ruth's stuff.. Ziggy has a collar almost the same as the star one you have and a gorgeous lead. They are such soft leather. We get compliments all the time... IMG_0239 by Jodie Moore Photos, on Flickr

I noticed that Ziggy played it with the fosters but it was usually when he was tired, to slow down full on play or when they were just laying around of a night time before bed.. All other ody language is friendly or super relaxed, I always thought it was just a way to keep playing while laying down..

I'm so sorry Eza.. RIP Cooper.

Ziggy's Training -not Responding To Me
Staffyluv replied to Staffyluv's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
A really good training session today. We only stayed for about an hour and he was great... I noticed he started looking around a bit, so we called it quits... We came home on a high... To top it off, I have a friend who has a lab cross poodle and she wants to socialise her so she bought her over for a play date with Ziggy. They met on lead, went for a short walk together before we let them play and the play was really appropriate. Ziggy came every time I called him, he even sat and dropped while the other dog was there.. Two giant steps forward this week.. Feeling really good. The poor boy is totally buggered now though.. -
Huh.. So it is...

Why would you want a mini pom? They are such a little dog anyway.. I have to say we have a young coup,e that come to our dog park sometimes and they have 3 Pom girls.. The oldest (which I thought was a pup) is about 3/4 of the size of the other two... She is also the boss :D Ziggy likes to play with them cause they have the littlest tennis balls and he has someone to run with...he looks so silly trying to play bow to this tiny dog that looks like she is smaller than his head...
-
I think they do to... Zig modifies his play depending on the age and size of the dog he is playing with... He would rather play with the big boys that run fast and play hard but if there is only pups or smaller dogs to play with he is much gentler. I also thought that pups had a sort of leeway with older dogs but I have since seen a older dog attack a young pup... It was horrible to watch (I made a thread ages ago discussing why would a dog attack a pup?).

Rescue/foster Dog Health Issue
Staffyluv replied to parrotpea's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
The best way to see crystals in urine is to get a sample of the urine in some newspaper and let it dry.. You will see the shiney crystals then if you hold it out in the sun.. This was how our vet told us to check our old Staffords urine after he had stones removed when he was about 6 years old.. They are not normally visible to the baked eye in a sample in a container.. Or you can check a sample under a microscope.
