The problem with social media is it is like Chinese whispers... It only takes one person to say something and it gets altered.. I have shared the pup on Facebook and will continue to bump her. I hope she is found safe and sound..

Building Towns That Are "no-dog-zones"
Staffyluv replied to bdierikx's topic in General Dog Discussion
I guess people who don't want dogs in their life should have somewhere that they can live without dogs if they want.. Obviously if you are a dog lover and want dogs in your life, you wouldn't buy there.. It wouldn't bother me but then I would never live in a community like that. I want my dog around and always will. -
We a doggie birthday party out at the cotter a couple of weeks ago and it was really nice.. We could catch up there or maybe even tha park behind the Griffith shops (not off lead but an on lead would be OK).. Yarralumla dog park is a really nice place to let the dogs have a run.. I haven't been there but the dog park at Casey is supposed to be nice as well. Or we could maybe do just a people lunch somewhere central, like Woden... Does anyone have a preference?

Ollie dog used to have one like that (I think we got it from the markets)... You just soaked it in the laundry tub for a few minutes and the crystal swelled up. He used to lay on it all the time in summer...

Ziggy's Training -not Responding To Me
Staffyluv replied to Staffyluv's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
We didn't have such a good training session today and it was my fault, not his... He was being a bit pushy and I pulled him up for it but then he just kept going for the other dogs again.. Even taking him out of the group and training away didn't make any difference... I think because I was so tired and just not into it today he picked up on it.. So we came home and I kept him in the front yard while I washed the car.. I got him to bring me the wash cloth and with a bit of encouragement he did it.. All he really wanted was the hose.. So to make up for training after we washed the car, he got a little hose down... He is sound asleep now.. So I can relax for a while.. -
They are probably pretty well emotionally drained at the moment, but I hope they have the financial and emotional resources to do this. Dogs are considered chattel, so it is theft.. The police should lay charges and prosecute accordingly.. The dogs owners could go after them but it would be a civil matter and honestly, expensive and the outcome would only be damages awarded... Hardly worth the stress IMO...

According to the dogs owners this morning the kid and his family stole her... I hope they charge the whole family.. What a crap thing to do..
-
Same WP but I dare say we might not find out as her owners said they just wanted her home and there would be no questions asked about... Glad she is home though.. I couldn't imagine not knowing where my dog was for a week...

Wow she must be strong... It is here if you change your mind..

PM I have 2 metal crates here not being used at the moment. They are not chewable and have a front or side opening. I had my 17kg foster girl in one and she fit fine.. You are welcome to borrow one if you want to.

Ziggy's Training -not Responding To Me
Staffyluv replied to Staffyluv's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks guys, it feels good at the moment.. We are taking baby steps forward and forward and forward.. He has had a couple of boring days as I have been really busy with work... No work makes Ziggy a naughty boy.. Well not really, he is just bored and the little bits I have been doing with him are not enough, when he is used to so much more attention and training time. I have set my alarm for half an hour earlier and moved y client appointment back an hour tomorrow so we can go for a good walk and get some external training time with bigger distractions in.. -
Help Needed To Find Buckie, Blue Stafford
Staffyluv replied to dee lee's topic in General Dog Discussion
That kid looks like he is about 10-12 years old. How many kids that age, look at the collar for a number to call? IF he took the dog home, perhaps he took the collar off/perhaps his parents decided to keep her - honestly, there are way to many what ifs and perhaps to make any real judgement call on this kid.. The ranting about the kid does nothing to get the dog back.. Remember the girl who was raped and murdered in Vic last month - all the people suggesting her poor husband had something to do with it.. Benefit of the doubt, innocent until proven guilty - it means nothing on these facebook pages.. I want to see her owners get her back as much as anyone else. -

It is so sad, I hope they get her back..Hopefully with all the media coverage they will. It is so sad to see the usual crap about what a little toad (that's a bit nicer than what some are calling him) etc regarding the kid.. The kid might be an innocent in all this. Maybe he thought she was lost (she was apparently out the front of a shop) and he was trying to find her owner and decided to take her home.. (not everyone is like us and knows to call the pound or go looking for a lost pets owner).. Who knows?? I do really hope they get to the bottom of it and get her back and IF she was in fact stolen, I hope the people responsible are charged accordingly. -
Our old boy only came up to rumble with my late husband or to snuggle with me when he went to work.. So, no not in the bed then.. The current dog, well who knows - I have been single the whole time I have had him here... However I am not really into having an audience during special time

Could be fixed with something as simple as giving calcium between whelping each pup and then for a couple of days after.. Could be fixed by desexing his damn dog No he won't desex her because she won't come good until she raises a litter... Hence the reason I said, there is no point trying to talk to some because they already know it all.. It is nice when you meet some and talk to them and they do listen - I have managed to convince quite a few people over the years to desex their dogs.. Sadly, you can't convince everyone.
-
I was just thinking about this some more and realised it was only when I became 'single' that the dogs moved onto my bed permanently. Ollie dog always came into our bed when Dan got up and went to work, otherwise he slept on his bed in our room.. He would also get up and get in the covers with us on cold winter mornings or jump up for a rumble with Dan on weekend mornings.. Sometimes he would curl up between us and we let him stay there more and more as he got older. When I moved away in 2010, he had his own bed but slept on mine with me every night When I came back he stayed on my bed right up to when he passed away.. Ziggy came into my life and had his own crate but we had fosters and they were in a crate. As zig and I bonded, he moved to the end of my bed and our fosters all ended up on the bed in the morning and of an evening for cuddles before going into their crates. Now it is just zig and me, he has taken over...

Could be fixed with something as simple as giving calcium between whelping each pup and then for a couple of days after.. She is a really dog aggressive dog, who has to be muzzled at home so she doesn't attack the male dog this idiot has... He saw me with Ziggy and asked about using him and then told me how silly I was desexing him because there is lots of money to be made for good dogs.. You simply can't tell these people anything as they already know it all... I will suggest it if I ever have the misfortune of running into him again, thanks Pav... I honestly think there are just to many people (who have no idea and are only doing it to make money) breeding dogs... Dogs of any temperament or breeding... People who really have no idea what they are doing and rely totally on the fact that nature will take care of itself.. Lucky for so many, nature does take its course and the bitches whelp relatively fuss free... To make things clear, I don't include good breeders in this category of 'people'.. We need good breeders to produce good dogs..
-
Or due to the fact hat every dickhead who buys a dog thinks they should breed them to make back what they paid for it and more... Then they sell to just anyone and pet shops.. Once the cute puppy stage is over and school holidays begin and they want to go away, the animal gets dumped... I realise there are good breeders and ethical breeders but there are so many mum and dad BYBers out there (don't get me started on puppy farms), who really don't care who they sell to. They just want to make a buck. Then there are the idiots who truly believe that she needs to have at least one litter to e a good dog.. I recently met one such moron. His bitch (a cross bull breed) who had 2 litters in a row and killed all the pups.. He was going to breed her again because 'she won't come good until she raises a litter'... I was speechless! You only have to look at the amount of dogs sold via Facebook now..
-
Just Ziggy and me.. But I still wake up on that quilty bit that is sewn around the edge of the mattress.... He is a major bed hog now...
-
Well we will need to make it after the puppy is fully vaccinated... We don't want to miss out in meeting him.

Help Needed To Find Buckie, Blue Stafford

I have liked the page on Facebook but as I am in Canberra area I doubt it will be of much help.. Hopefully they get her home soon. -
I am totally gobsmacked that he has been allowed to have another dog living with him - what on earth were the authorities that approved that thinking?

Ziggy's Training -not Responding To Me
Staffyluv replied to Staffyluv's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Zig and I had a good weekend behaviour and training wise. We went to a doggie birthday party and he was really good. Although some of the other dogs were off lead, I kept him on lead (a double length lead). We did go for a big walk and I let him off to have a swim.. That's when he met an older Stafford boy and the two had a great time swimming together. I limited his off lead time and I really think it made a difference. His excitement leave was nowhere near why it would have been if he had been totally off lead and allowed to just run around... Today at training he was good but our time training was shorter than usual as his attention seemed really off today. So we just went for a long walk and practiced loose lead walking, with him beside me.. We did hang around and watch the others train but he seemed content to do really basic stuff.. It is good when others notice his improvement and our trainer said again today how far he has come..
