  1. That is awesome - it doesn't look like he has any issues at all from losing his leg. Gorgeous pups.
  2. Put it in your room? Find another room closer to the family room that you can leave it in? Get a smaller soft dog bed and train her to sleep on it (in the family room) and only use the crate if you need to.
  3. They do and I am not opposed to a bark while playing, or a warning bark or a I wanna go out bark is fine. But I don't tolerate barking for the sake of it.. The dogs next door will bark at leaves moving, birds flying over, cars going past. They start any time from 5 am onwards and continue on and off most of the day.. He is never home, they are never walked or played with. I realise it isn't the dogs fault but for 10 years it has been going on. Our rangers have a chat every now and then but he knows them all and nothing is ever followed up. ETA, I have a talker. Zig follows you around woo wooing and huffing and growly noises while we are getting ready to go for a walk, or while I am cooking or even when I am in the shower.. I think his chit chat is really cute but it doesn't bother anyone and it isn't annoying to me and he will stop if I tell him to..
  4. The dogs next door bark all the time here - Zig has tried to join in a couple of times but I tell him no barking and he stops.. I have lived next door to barking dogs for so many years - it is my pet peeve, I absolutely hate it and would never tolerate it from my own dogs...
  5. No left overs are fed to Zig - we found out the hard way he has issues with fat in his diet.. He gets a really upset tummy if he gets to much fat. We had friends over one day and I gave the kids a scotch finger biscuit each and the little one gave hers to Zig (either that or he took it but she said she gave it to him) - he vomited it back up about 5 minutes after eating it.. Family were here for my youngest sons 21st breakfast and a couple of them gave him bacon - he was sick for a couple of days, with vomiting and a really rumbly tummy.
  6. Zig had some raw meaty bones for breaky (ribs) Chopped up roo for dinner Snacks were an apple (he helped himself to from the fruit bowl) A small kong with Eukanuba kibble and cottage cheese in it.
  7. Anne if he is comfortable in a harness, you can get those ones that have a handle (that might help to stop him spinning). Like the ones Here Poor little guy (and all the other dogs), it sounds terrible.
  8. Good news that Boof is doing so well. Still have everything crossed for clean margins. Glad you might have a dx for Monte (will have a read of the other thread).
  9. Thanks Sue, Zig has been the best medicine for us. We lost my husband on 2nd October 2011 and then Ollie dog 3 weeks late on the 25th October 2011.. We got Zig on the 1st November 2011 - he was there and needed us as much as we needed him. He is turning out to be a really wonderful dog. He has been a bit of a challenge to train sometimes but he was 6 months old and had no training at all when we got him from the pound. He has come such a long way and is very much the light of my life at the moment. We are looking forward to a great year this year. Cheers Jodie
  10. This is exactly what Zig is like.Other than the ball thing - he loves balls but if another dog has it, he is happy to run with them and never takes it off them.. As long as there is a dog running, he is happy to run with them..ETA - Zig has a boxer mate at the park and they play really well together. They run side by side doing the shoulder slamming. He weighs heaps more than Zig and sometimes even gets a bit rough for him. But they are both mud monsters so if there is water and mud, they are happiest running through it together. Zig sounds like perfection, and exactly how i hope my little punk turns out :) Oh he is far from perfect but he has come such a long way from what he was.. He is most definitely in the 'punk' range.. Very much a boof head but he does play well with other dogs that like to play. If there are older or other dogs that don't like his play, we tend to leave so it doesn't cause issues.. People can be really funny, especially with boofheads.

  12. I love the oldies as well.. I think it is because I miss Ollie so much still. Poor little old man, he was such a sweetheart..
  13. She has a sweet face.. It's a shame you are not closer - I know Zig would love her because he loves everything.. Dogs, pups, cats, birds everything but little kids.. He runs from little kids that come at him. If they walk up, he is fine but if they run at him, he seems to be scared and will hide behind my legs. He has a ball with the pugs at the park we go to. He plays with the biggest lab and a big bouncy boxer and the teeniest Pom I have ever seen.. There are dogs that don't like that bouncy in your face, I wanna be friends thing that some dogs do (I know, I have one of those dogs). We tend to hang with the dogs that do like it and want to play. We have been working on his manners because some other dogs don't like the way they just bounce up to them (whether the other dog wants to meet or not). We don't go into the park until he is calm and waiting. He doesn't get to say hello to all dogs on walks but if someone is happy to say hello, he has to walk in calmly - he is not allowed to pull on the lead and barge in. We walk away if he does this and will come back in slowly once he is calm or we walk on - depends on the situation. It takes time, training and patience - they won't get it right away but they will get it eventually. There are heaps of tips in the reactive dog thread in the training forum..
  14. She is out at Braidwood and comes to Canberra for classes - I am not sure but you could ask her. I know she does a lot of working dog trials with her dogs and travels a bit for those - maybe you could organise a session in line with a trial date.
  15. Heike Heike has helped us so much with Zig.. and all his antics. I could sit and watch her with her pack all day - she is amazing.
  16. Poor Monte, I hope he is bouncing around again soon. It's harder when you don't know what is wrong with them.. Hopefully they both make full and quick recoveries.
  17. That is good. I remember keeping Ol on pain killers for a while after the second op. God bless air con.. I don't think ours has been turned off since we turned it on yesterday morning.
  18. I would expect any employee responsible for this to be fired. As an employer, we are responsible for our employees (that is why we have insurance). The business should have civil action taken against it and compensation (which can never replace the Buddy the dog) paid.. Leaving a dog tied to a table while they go to lunch is negligence pure and simple. I would think the last thing someone would want, would be to go back to that particular business for anything after what happened.
  19. Agree with juice - all the info needs to be collated now while it is fresh. Hopefully Caz has someone that could step in and do this for her - trying to deal with the loss of Buddy under such horrible circumstances would be hard enough.
  20. How is he today Anne? Hope he feels a bit better - even in this horrid heat.
  21. NSW Rural Fire Service FB page Emergency Warning - Mates Gully, Tarcutta (Wagga Wagga) fire impact is imminent on sthn edge of Talcutta. Shelter in place. 2 late to leave.
  22. Animal Transport & Boarding in Natural Disasters Link to a new facebook page trying to organise transport and boarding for animals in disaster areas.
  23. Looks like he has the weight of the world on his shoulders - bless him he is so cute. I love the way he snuggles up to Cocoa.. Great photo Ruth..
  24. The fact that the groomer has not made contact with you to see if there is anything they can do to help is appalling. If it was my business, I would have sent flowers, offered to organise and pay for pets at peace and done all I could to comfort you.. (I would understand if you didn't want me around as well but the very least, these things should have been offered)... Caz, I know I said before how sorry I am and it just doesn't seem enough - words really fail me sometimes.
  25. Oh poor boy. Second ops on the same area are always so much worse. Lots of love and cuddles and everything crossed for clear margins. Ollie's second op was terrible, they removed so much of his rump he looked deformed and it took years before it looked like a normal rump again.
