  1. I am so happy that he is doing so well pampa... Someone asked me the other day if I thought it was due to the chemo or the holistic therapy - I told them I did not care, just as long as he was feeling well and healthy... Cheers Jodie
  2. You need to make the bath experience one that she looks forward too... With Ollie, he knows he is going to get a treat at the end after he is bathed and dried... So he really likes his bath... Perhaps start by just putting her in the bath and giving her a treat and heaps of pats... Then the next day do the same thing but keep her there a little longer... Then introduce a little water - not enough to bath her, just so she gets a little wet and give her a treat... Just continue with this until she eventually has a bath... Good luck Jodie
  3. Thanks for that Rusky, I might give saline a go next time and see how he goes... Cheers Jodie ETA, Sorry Goldy, I did not see your post before... I use about 5mls to half a litre of water and keep it in a bottle near the bath... Then I just use as much as I need to rinse his feet... If the solution that you are using is working for you, then I would just keep using that... Cheers Jodie
  4. I use the Malaseb to wash his feet twice a day, if I notice them itchy... I use the smallest amount in a small bowl... Stopped him licking his itchy feet after a coupld of washes... I just found this worked well for us as he only got itchy feet when they put down the fertiliser at the park... Cheers Jodie
  5. Ollie used to get this sort of thing when they fertilised at the park where we walk... Our vet said to use Malaseb and wash his feet twice a day.. Works great  Good luck Jodie
  6. Thanks Helen, Hoping that Lucindas new lump is just a lump and not MCT... I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you both... Hugs Jodie
  7. A quick update: Ollie had his 3rd chemo yesterday and is doing really well... His blood work came back with good white blood cell counts... All lumps that were visible, now appear to be gone and cannot be felt at all... He is a little slower than he used to be and our walks are not as long, but taking him for a walk is still my favourite time of the day... Hubby had some portraits taken and framed of Ollie for me for Christmas (I will put them in the photo section as soon as I get the disc)... They are so lovely, I bawled my eyes out when I unwrapped them on Christmas eve... Cheers Jodie and Ollie dog
  8. I think it started in his first summer, so he would have been about 7 months old... I don't brush him, never have... He gets a bath nearly every week to 10 days in summer time and fortnightly in winter... After his bath, he gets a really good rub down with his towels, then blow dried (he loves this, especially in winter)... I just make sure that I vacuum a lot but it comes with the breed, so I just put up with it... Cheers Jodie
  9. Some staffords just seem to lose more hair than others... My boy loses hair all year - it is like little black eyelashes and it is stuck in everything... My solutions - buy furniture the same colour as the dog and get a Dyson vacuum cleaner... Good luck Jodie
  10. So sorry for your loss KitKat... RIP Harm Jodie and Ollie dog
  11. Oh dear... Poor Hobbes, hope he is feeling better today... Give him some hugs from this side of the country... Jodie
  12. Thinking positive thoughts for Minty.. How is the little one today? Big hugs Jodie and Ollie dog
  13. I just found this thread... I am so sorry for you and Stewie... Cancer of any description is terrible... He does look a picture of health in those pic's, what a handsome boy he is! Merry Christmas Jodie and Ollie dog
  14. He had his blood test yesterday and it came back with low white blood cell count... It was still OK for him to have his second lot of chemo today... Vet said that he will have to be watched really close and his temp checked a couple of times a day to make sure he does not get an infection of any kind... Bless him, he has given us his mobile phone number and said call at anytime day or night... Even Christmas day - he said from experience, if pooches get sick, it is usually on a holiday... Ollie seems well this week.. We have had really good walks every morning (at least a coupld of KM's), except for today, he was a bit tired after only a KM... I don't push him at all to exercise, I just let him walk as far as he wants then I put him in the car and take him home... The small tumours that were on his side, seem to have gone. The one on his rump is still there but definitely smaller... The vet said that is the results that we want to see...So that is really good news... We received the parcel from the holistic vet in Sydney... He has to take: 5 Mushroom drops - twice a day Omega three Fish oil supplement once a day AntiOx once a day Lymphodran once a day All this on top of the chemo, 2 lots of other drops, Vit C and his Macrolene... Will update when we have more news... Cheers Jodie and Ollie dog...
  15. I just read this... I am so sorry for the loss of your two girls and so close together... Big hugs to you... RIP sweet girls... Jodie and Ollie dog
  16. Just for the record - Ham is cooked meat, it has been cured... So that means that the bone in a ham is a cooked bone - not good for pooch's... Jodie ETA: I feed pork to Ollie from time to time and have never had a problem.. I have offered him ham, but he does not like it...
  17. So sorry for your loss... Hugs to you and Jinta... RIP tiny pup Jodie and Ollie dog
  18. Ollie is good... Much better than I expected (then again, not really sure what I expected)... He is back to having a walk every morning and we go for 15 minutes to half an hour - that seems to be all he wants to do, so I don't push him... He had a bit of a run this morning... He is hungry all the time.. I must remember to ask the vet about that when I take him back on Tuesday for his blood test (next chemo is on Wednesday)... His sitter called in today (we are going away for 5 days over Christmas) and she spent some time with him... I was worried about leaving him, but after seeing her with him today I feel so much better... She was asking all sorts of questions about his medication and how he is feeling, she even wanted to know how to take his temperature (just so she knows)... He does not have any chemo while we are away, which is great... Thanks for asking, it is great to have someone to talk to about it... Cheers Jodie and Ollie dog
  19. Thanks Helen, We have: Vit C 2 x 500mg daily Macrolene 2.5 once a day (goes with the chemo) Conium drops - once a day (for the lymph glands) Caucinosin drops - once a week (for the cancer) He has chemo once a week for 2 weeks then 1 week off... The chemo drugs he is on are: Week 1,4,7,10 etc - Vinblastine Week 2 CCNU and Lomustine Week5,8,11 etc - just CCNU He also has Ignatia drops when required - these are for when he is really down... We haven't got any herbs yet but we will have by next week. I think they are planning on stuff for his tummy (because the chemo can give him tummy ulcers) and stuff so he does not feel sick (just in case) and more stuff for the cancer... He is such a good boy, if I show him a treat and say 'you have to have this first', most of the time I just have to give it to him and he takes it - no putting it down his throat... Jodie
  20. He is home after his first chemo today... At the moment he seems fine, he is happy and his usual wriggly self... He has had a scotch finger biscuit (I know bad treat) and a drink of water... He is getting lots of attention from everyone and quite enjoying it... I spoke with the Holistic specialist in Sydney today (our HV is more into homeopathy, not herbs and has recommended the Sydney Vet)... They can help with his immune system and feeling sick from the chemo... (which does not seem to have happened yet) The only thing I am worried about now is the dog sitter that is coming to stay with him for 5 days over Christmas.. I hope she is OK with giving him his medication... Fingers crossed that it all goes as well as today... Cheers Jodie and Ollie dog
  21. He is up at the vet right now having his first chemo session... It was supposed to be on Monday but things got mucked around... He is wanting to play more and we are spending more time at the park on our walks, this morning he was running around We went to the holistic vet yesterday and she gave us some conium drops to help with his enlarged lymph glands and some Ignatia drops for when we go away over Christmas (helps with pining)... I have the herbalist number and will call her today, to discuss any supplements that might benefit Ollie while he is on chemo... He sleeps more now than he used to, but when we are out and about he has a great time... Thanks for caring, your advice and support has been a godsend... Most of my friends (although they know how much Ollie means to me), just do not understand how I feel... It is great to have you all to talk to about what is going on with my boy, knowing you all feel the same about your own dogs, so you know how I feel... Thanks Jodie
  22. So sorry for your loss... RIP Kayla Jodie
