  1. The method we used with Ollie was to hold his front paws firmly (a little squeeze) and say down at the same time as putting his feet on the ground... It did not take long before he stopped jumping up on people without being asked to come up... There are lots of training methods, you just need to find the one that works for you... Good luck Jodie
  2. Thanks but we have a wonderful holistic vet in Sydney. Sue and Barbara use chinese herbs as well and we have some here... I believe that the ladies at All Natural Vet Care have saved my lad for me - without them, I really don't think he would be as well as he is now... Unfortunately, Ollie cannot be cured as it is in his lymph system and he has 3 more tumours after the two were removed back in 2005... We just want to make him as well and happy as he can be, until the day comes when I have to let him go... (But we try not to think about that too much)... Thanks Jodie
  3. Hi Riles, He is doing really well... Still in remission... We went to the park this morning and the grass was all wet (it is long too), so he spent ages just rolling around in the wet grass. He had a ball and that is what it is all about now, just making sure he has a great time and stays well... Thanks for asking Jodie

    Doc

RIP Doc, rest in peace... Sorry Rozzie... Jodie and Ollie dog
  5. Lamb, especially the flaps and chook frames and wings... Oily fish (if she likes it), like tuna and salmon... Maybe some pasta added to her food... Sweet potato and pumpkin are good veges if dogs have never really had them because they are sweeter and more palatable... Good luck shekky, I hope she gets better soon... Jodie
  6. He has been helping the tiler, waterproof the bathroom (now he has green waterproof paint on him)... He is a great help to all the tradies doing our new bathroom He is heaps better this morning (touch wood)... I am great - bounced back from my surgery really quick (well quicker than I thought I would)... Cheers J
  7. He has picked up a bit and not vomiting (a good thing).. But his tummy looks swollen, so I called the vet and and he is going in on friday ( he does not appear uncomfortable or anything - so I don't think there is any hurry for him to see the vet at this point)... Cheers and fingers crossed Jodie
  8. RIP Harry... Run free boy with no more pain... Condolences to your mum - it is so hard to say goodbye to those we love... Jodie
  9. So sorry for your loss... Run free fella... Jodie
  10. I would want my dog to have quality of life and if draining his tummy would make him more comfortable, then I think I would be asking for it to be done.... Obviously you would have to weigh up the pros and cons of having something like this done - it may need to be done more than once... I would be asking things like, what are the chances of infection and how bad would the dehydration get - would he need to be on a drip to rehydrate??? A few things to consider but I know for our lad, who has mast cell cancer, it is all quality of life... Cheers and good luck Jodie
  11. Glad to hear Molly is feeling better... I have never had any experience with eye problems but I have seen a few friends dogs with them and they look so sore, poor babies... Cheers Jodie
  12. He started to come good yesterday, so I decided to take him for a walk this morning(he has not been on one since Monday - he was not 100% and I had surgery) because he was driving me crazy - tryng to run around in the house with toys etc... The walk was great - we both enjoyed it. I had to go out for a couple of hours after our walk and I have come home to a sick pooch again - he has vomited 4 times and seems flat. I have decided to give him some more carafate and wait an hour... If he is sick again, I will call the vets... Fingers crossed, Jodie
  13. Oh dear, what happened to the little princess??? I hope she is OK... Ollie is still off his tucker at the moment... He is down to 23kg - not bad when you consider he was up to 28kg when he was all bloated with his meds when he was having chemo and his thyroid was not working... I hope she is feeling better soon... We will have to catch up for a coffee, soon... Hugs J
  14. So sorry Peibe... It is always so hard to say goodbye... RIP Elle-belle... Jodie
  15. Ollie was not feeling well yesterday, so we went to the vet and he has some kind of infection... He now has antibiotics and is supposed to be resting (try telling him he can't go for a walk)... I will keep him home for a few days and see how he goes... I hate seeing him so flat and moping around the place... No doubt he will be back to his normal bouncy self in a day or two... Cheers Jodie
  16. Ollie is not fussed on plain yoghurt but loves the Jalna vanilla one... So that is what he gets... I often buy the natural greek one with fruit for myself and I usually leave him a bit of the yoghurt and fruit in the bottom of the container...

    Milk

Ollie used to drink cows milk and then went off it when he was about 2, preferring my soy milk.. Now he has decided that he likes cows milk again and as long as it does not upset his tummy and give him the runs - he can have a small bowl most mornings... There are some things that are downright dangerous for our pooches and there are some things that can be OK in moderation - remembering that like us, they are all different... Cheers Jodie
  18. Ollie prefers fresh fish - tuna or salmon are his favourites (he only gets my left overs)... But he does eat fish if it is cooked for him - he has never eaten the tinned stuff, he walks away from it every time... Cheers Jodie
  19. Poor At... Did they do an ultrasound TB??? If not, request one... His symptoms do match the way Ollie was when he had the kidney/bladder stones... We had to have an ultrasound to detect them (we had 4 xrays and nothing showed up)... Give him a big hug and I hope he is feeling better soon... Jodie
  20. So sorry for your loss... RIP Dotti Jodie and Ollie dog
  21. So sorry Pandii - it is never fair when they are taken so young... RIP baby girl... Jodie and Ollie dog
  22. TB is there any blood in his urine??? He has similar symptoms to Ollie when he was diagnosed with bladder and kidney stones... We did not put it together until we noticed blood in his urine (he peed on the concrete one day)... Ollie would get a sore tummy, and look unwell (hunched and tail tucked) and he would end up vomiting (due to pain)... This happened a few times and even the vet did not know what it was, so he just put him in no food etc until he felt better... They get sick when a stone moves - that is why they are OK most of the time... Probably would not hurt to rule it out... I hope he feels better today...Give him a big smooch for me... Jodie
  23. Thanks so much for the support... It is hard to talk to the family about it because they get really upset at the thought he has cancer and won't be here forever... The lad had a good run and swim in the pond at the park (until he remembered he couldn't swim) I am still waiting on the buffy coat test results, I might call the vet tomorrow to see if they have come back and he has just been a bit busy to call - I guess that is good news too... Cheers Jodie
  24. So sorry Warls, Xcel and Luci for all you have had to endure this week.. May the rest of your year be full of sunshine... RIP Sarah Stafford (sorry I did not get the chance to meet you) Hugs Jodie and Ollie dog
  25. Glad to hear he is going to be OK... Cheers Jodie
