I agree with TB, leash the dog before the visitors arrive and he does not get any attention until he is sitting quietly. Our lad used to do this when he was younger and the method we used was to hold his front paws, give a firm squeeze and say stay down, as we put his paws back on the ground. You need friends to cooperate and do it as well when he jumps on them. We only needed to do it for about a week and he came good. Good luck Jodie

Fly Has A Lump On Her Neck....its Attached.
Staffyluv replied to rugerfly's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I would be asking for a needle biopsy so they can make sure it is nothing. If in doubt - remove it. Ollie's fatty lipomas tend to move a bit and be squishy but the mast cell tumours do not - they more often than not feel as if they are attached and they are a lot harder. I hope all goes well for Fly. Good luck Jodie -
So sorry for your loss. It is never easy to say goodbye to our precious babies. RIP Gordie Jodie and Ollie dog

We just use polaramine from the chemist - I think it is only about $7 for a box of 50. Jodie

Our vet is giving Ollie cartraphon (sp??) injections as he is pretty sure it is arthritis and the joint guard is not doing enough to relieve it. He has to have an injection every Monday for four weeks and that should last a while. He is a happy pooch and once he finishes the injections he will be fine again. Cheers Jodie

Sleep peacefully old girl... Sorry Rozzie Jodie

Thanks RnB, he is quite a little trooper. Hi pampa, nice to see you back And still doing well other than a small sprain in his front ankle joint at the moment (well that is what I am hoping it is) - we are off to the vets in the morning to make sure. Jodie

Malaseb As An Ear Cleanser ?
Staffyluv replied to WreckitWhippet's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yep Warls, we have been using this for Ollie for years. We dilute 1:30 Malaseb:Water. He has rarely had a problem with itchy anything since we started using Malaseb. We also use the same dilution to wash his feet when they spray stuff at the park and his feet get a bit red. Jodie -
RIP Pepsi... So sorry for your loss.. Jodie

Hi Pix, Have you had a chance to talk to the ladies at All Natural Vet Care yet? I can tell you that if it were not for them, Ollie would not have the quality of life he has. They might be able to do the same for Kaeleigh if and when she needs it. Good luck with it all Jodie

So sorry Shoey. RIP Betty

Bump for Pix, in case you want to read this... Ollie is doing well at the moment, nothing to report at all (except maybe that he eats too much). Jodie

Just saw this again, sorry. Ollie is doing quite well Helen, thanks for asking - he still has his ups and downs but definitely more ups... Pix, Ollie has mast cell cancer grade 2. He was operated on in November 2005 to remove the tumours but they did not get clear margins, so he had to have chemo. He was also treated by the lovely ladies at All Natural Vet Care. As you can see he has had the cancer for a while, going on a year and a half now. Lots of ups and downs but they are worth it. Helens Lucinda has the same cancer but hers is a grade three and bless her she is still with us going on 4 years (correct me if I am wrong, please Helen) and she has been treated only holistically. Ollie has a thread here somewhere that details his entire journey - I will track down the link for you and you can have a look if you want to. Wishing you all the best Jodie

So sorry tybrax... He was such a beautiful boy and taken way before his time... Hugs Jodie

Sorry CTD but if they did not find a grass seed and they did no pathology on the contents - how can they know it was caused by a grass seed??? Lumps of any description worry me, especially when there has been no conclusive proof of what caused it... And now you have unexplained weight loss as well... Here is hoping he starts to put on weight again soon... Jodie
-
Did they do any pathology on the lump??? Loss of weight when they are not running around, should be checked out... Good luck Jodie

He did enjoy his shower and he does not leave the bathroom until the blow dryer comes out to dry him... No I did not get any pics yet but I promise I will on the weekend... I might give him another shower and take some in there... I was looking at some older pics that I have of him and you can really see how small/grey/old he is now compared to the older ones... Bless him, I believe he fights this disease so hard just for me - I think we would be very lost without each other... Jodie
-
Thanks you all for the well wishes... We really appreciate it... I will take some new pics on the weekend and post some up then... Helen, I honestly don't think it is arthritis (but I am not a vet)... My first thought was that the cancer is back and it has spread - I just did not want to admit that... Give the lovely Lucinda a big hug from us, bless her, she has so much fight in her - you must be so proud of her and the way she has fought this dreaded disease... The boys were slack and did not give him his shower and blow dry, so I will do it tomorrow afternoon for him... The vet also suggested shortening his walk in the morning but taking him on two or three smaller walks of about 15 minutes each... So I think I will try that for the rest of the week and see how he goes... Cheers Jodie
