I had a great place in Goonellabah when I was up there (and had the old staffy with me). I went through Mark Harley are Ray White in Lismore - give them a call and see if they have anything. I also had a place (but not so dog friendly) when I first got there through Century 21 in Ballina. They allowed pets but the place did not have a very good yard..

Canberra And Surrounds Dol Meet (with Furkids)
Staffyluv replied to kaywoman68's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would like the opportunity to socialise the new staffy pup or the Kelpie foster (can't do both at the same time, so one will have to miss out this time but can come the next time)... Let me know where and when -
Just wondering how the dog is today? hopefully better

Just wanted to share a few pictures of the old boy.. I can't believe it has been 5 weeks without him.

Yes dogs can get gastro and all manner of other illnesses. If my dog vomited twice and then did not get up, I would have taken it straight to the vet. Can you check your dogs temperature? Has to dog been sick again? Is the dog flat, not acting like it normally does? Has your dog had all vaccinations? Could it have eaten something unusual like a toxic plant or bad food? I also would. It offer any food until the dog has seen a vet but please make sure the dog has plenty of water and it is drinking. Dogs can dehydrate very quickly.

So very sorry - it is so hard to lose them, isn't it... Rest in peace Jack

I live next door to 2 GSPs that have been barking for over 6 years now... It is a nightmare and their owner does nothing, council does nothing apart from talk to the guy... Every time council shows up, he moves them to a friends place for a few weeks and then they come back and start all over again. Over the years I have made numerous complaints and filled in about 4 of those dog barking logs and still they bark... I am all for debarking of dogs who just don't/won't learn...

A Few Issues With A New Foster
Staffyluv replied to Staffyluv's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I left a message a few days ago and have not heard back so I will call the one the vet recommended next week and hopefully get some help. I think I could train them myself but I just know gussy has great potential. He would be totally amazing at fly ball. He is so quick. -
Thanks but it is just fleas. I have cleaned their bedding and upon the vets advice we have dosed both of them with comfortis today. Hopefully that will work. I washed all the bedding again today in hit water and then put it through the clothes dryer.

A Few Issues With A New Foster
Staffyluv replied to Staffyluv's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
We are improving... I say we because it has been a very long time since I had to teach a dog - my old staffy had lovely manners and his basic commands were also hand signals, so when he went deaf (with old age), I could still get him to sit, come and stop... I have even got to the point where I can get both the boys (the foster and our pup) to stop and sit at the same time in front of me. I can get them to come and stop, then sit... So we are making progress, slow but progress. Gussy still has some manners to learn - the excited jumping is really testing. But getting better also. The two of them have been rumbling around the house all day as it has not stopped raining but they will be going for a big walk tomorrow (rain, hail or shine) - as they are both way to active to miss two days walking. -

Great advice, I am definitely going to get some peroxide for home now. The new staffy pup eats everything...I have a feeling I might need it in the future. -
I can't believe it has been 4 weeks already since I let him go... I think I miss him more now than I did that first week without him... He really was my heart dog..

A Few Issues With A New Foster
Staffyluv replied to Staffyluv's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
He is 18 months and Ziggy is about 7 months Ziggy is not at all dominant and rolls over for anything. I don't think the little lad had a very good start in life. They play together so well and eat out of the same bowl so there are no other issues between them that I have noticed. I am going to contact a trainer next week to come out and see the. Jus together and assess them both to see what training we should be doing for each of them. We have just been doing the very basics like sit etc. hopefully he will have some ideas for us -
A Few Issues With A New Foster

The show was last weekend and I took Gusta guts over to meet the ACT Rescue and Foster people there and to say hello to some passers by. It was very hot though and he really only wanted to lay down in the cool... Gus won't stop humping Ziggy since he was desexed - he is driving me nuts the last couple of days. I am constantly telling him to get off Ziggy and if I separate them, Gus gets really upset (Ziggy does not seem to respond or care - he is so laid back for a staffy)... Not sure how to handle this one - any suggestions? All my previous male dogs were desexed at a young age, so never really got a chance to do the humping thing. -
Happy Birthday Ruger - hope you were spoilt...

Yep thanks have suggested that to her and she can't believe she did not think of it before - but I guess you just worry about them at the time and don't really think of things like that.
-
He is adorable.. He is the most relaxed stafford I have ever met, normally nothing phases him at all. I guess that is why my sister is so worried about him..
-
Thanks all, I have passed on all the suggestions. Just an update - Chopper is back to normal this morning, like nothing has happened at all. Here is a pic, so you can see the little lad... This was taken about 8 months ago, so he is a tad bigger now.

I picked up two boys from the pound 3 weeks ago. They were initially treated with Advantix (as they had ticks and fleas) the first week they were here. We have an 18 month old Kelpie cross (foster boy) and a 7 month old staffy (our lad). I also treated their bedding by washing in hot water and then sprinkling some flea powder on it before putting it back in their crates. They were desexed a week ago today so they can't be bathed yet (10 days apparently). They are still scratching - how long it before I can treat them again? The packet I have here says 4 weeks between treatments.

I think it is something that doesn't happen often as this is the third time it has happened and be is 18 months old now. I hope she sorts it out as it distresses her as much as it does him, I think. I just asked how he was and she said he is on his bed but just looking around and. Of freaking out anymore. She said it took him hours to relax again the last two times this happened. It is odd as he is without a doubt the most chilled out stafford I have ever met usually. Thanks for all the input, I have passed it all along and hopefully she will get it sorted

Pers I did not even think of a seizure. She is going to give him some rescue remedy and watch hi overnight but he seems to be settling. They have heaps of storms up there and they have never bothered him. He even goes out into the rain. So she said it is. It a storm issue (that was the first thing I asked her) Fingers crossed he is OK

She just said the Valium must be kicking in as he is settling down Still must be scary watching your dog react like that with no apparent reason. She is going to take him to the vets first thing in the morning. Thanks all
