Awe she is just lovely... Those pups are gorgeous. They are going to be very handsome boys when they grow up... -
I can't upload from my phone or iPad so it will have to wait until Monday, sorry folks... We have had a few 'accidents' inside but she is getting the hang of wee's when I say it and it has only been 1 day.. Bless her... Ziggy is trained to wee when I want him to, so regular trips out are convincing her it is a good idea if she goes to. Luckily she is like Ziggy and seems totally unfazed by the wet weather. He will happily play in the rain and when he comes in he is now waiting at the door to get dried off... Pippa is also waiting for the big dry off to... She slept all night in the crate with just one tiny cry to go to the toilet about 2:30am and that was OK as I was still awake anyway... She sits after watching Ziggy get treats to sit and now that she does that all the time, I might start on drop tomorrow.. She is a very clever cookie and a little snuggle bug.. She loves cuddles...

Highly recommend All Natural Vet Care.. The lovely ladies there helped treat Ollie dog with Mast Cell Cancer. Aiding us to keep him as well as possible while undergoing chemo and then further care with supplements...

Wrap some porridge oats in a tea towel, run it under hot water until it is milky and use the milky water to sponge bathe the itchy areas.. Oats are very soothing... Also an oatmeal shampoo might me better than Malaseb as it can be very drying on some skins.. My sister uses dermaid from the chemist on her stafford... Choppy gets really itchy and she thinks this works as well as anything prescribed by the vet... Note if there is infection involved then a vet trip is necessary.

I must remember to take the camera next time we go to the park... My iPhone camera takes the worst pictures, it is almost a waste of time using it...I might take the small digital camera or maybe the big girl camera (dslr)... I am not taking him today as the new foster baby is to young, just desexed and quarantined for the usual 2 weeks...

They are awesome, thanks for sharing... Ziggy is like Imme, the whole of him gets covered in mud.. I agree, it is great to see dogs being dogs.

The rain has not let up all day here, so I think I might give tomorrow a miss... We did brave the Queanbeyan dog park and that required a bath.. That is 3 he has had in 4 days... Have fun if any of you are brave enough to face the mud pool... -
Photos to come as she only arrived today and was only desexed on Thursday, so I am trying to convince her to take it easy... She is an adorable 4 month old, listed as staffy cross but to be honest I can't see a single gram of staffy in her... She is way to fine (boned), way to tall (she is taller than my staffy cross and he is 11 months old). But she is a very pretty girl, tall and lean.. She loves Ziggy and he adores her already. He lays next to her crate while she is in it.. And they curl up on his bed together when she is out. I am keep ing her on lead or in her crate to keep her from running amok but I dare say once she is healed there will be nothing stopping her... She is a ball of energy...

I had my monster to the dog park this morning for a good run (trying to wear him out before the new foster pup arrived)... He found the mud as usual and needed a long hot shower when he got home... The dork snorkels to... He loves putting his head right under the water so he can get to the mud... We are supposed to be going to the dog park again tomorrow but the rain has been relentless all day and I am not so sure I want to bath him again...

Ok To Advertise Puppies In The Classifieds?
Staffyluv replied to Mrs Rusty Bucket's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think yes, the more the average Joe realises that they have this option (ANKC v BYB) of buying a registered pup over a pup of questionable breeding the better... There is the sweetest ANKC female amstaffy on Facebook at the moment. She is on main register and the last of her litter... I have to be honest, mic the new foster pup did not come up, I was seriously thinking about her... -
Help Me Learn - Dog Behaviour Aggressive Or Not?
Staffyluv replied to a topic in General Dog Discussion
So true, we have a big Labrador at the dog park and his hackles go up every time a new dog walks in... He is just really excited. Once they are all together he calms down to just play... -
Dogs can have human antihistamines if this happens again. My old stafford had allergies and used to get hives, so he used to take a polamine tablet each day in allergy season... No more hives.
-
I have had Staffords for years (my last boy was with us for over 14 years) and I agree, better to sleep them inside and avoid the issue. Teaching them to bark on command is another brat option. Personally I would be taking my advice from a good behaviouralist or trainer. Or the many experienced people here on DOL... Does the pup in question go to puppy school or training? Staffords need training and socialisation from an early age.

You're probably right TW... The pound pups turn up, have a feed and crap the biggest, smelliest poo's for a few days, not to mention the passing of wind that could clear a room... I always thought it was due to the sudden change in food. I like that good food produces small, firm poo that does not really smell
-
I guess I must have been unlucky then. I find the fosters coming from pound food, get upset tummies when they have that immediate change to nutro and raw food that I serve up here... I was mainly going on previous experience but I guess I could be wrong. I have never served poo or rotting meat to my dogs so maybe they are a bit sensitive and need toughening up :D

I like some kids more than others... Ones I don't know I don't really have an opinion on... I have a wide variety of friends and most have kids. There are some that have manners and are a joy to have around. Then there are the ones who constantly interrupt their parents conversation, annoy the dog, touch things that are not theirs and are genuinely a PITA to have around.. I also dislike some parents attempts to justify this sort of behaviour.. No manners is simply no manners... I have taken to wearing my iPod shopping so I don't have to listen to kids whining or mucking up on their parents... Public displays of bratiness have always irked me... Now I can't hear them so I don't care how much they scream...

The best food for your dog is what your dog does best on... I use Nutro here and my boy and the foster dogs that come through so far have all dne well on it... Plus fresh meat, sardines, cottage cheese, eggs and raw bones... Be careful when changing diet. Do gradual changes, say 50/50 of current food and new food for a week and then add a bit more of the new food, gradually phasing out the old one. This will help stop any tummy upsets that might occur with an instant change from one to another.

I have the same issue with Lando, every dominant dog loves her and just stand over the top of her. I'm sure she'll share her hiding spot with Ava if needed. :D Either that or they can spend their time dodging Ziggy trying to be their best friend... -
They may have just bumped the button on your profile in one of your posts... That happened to me last week I accidentally sent a friend request and did not even know that I had done it... Or they may want to be your friend.. I think you can accept or refuse.. Sorry don't know much about the friend thing on here or why we even have...
-
Or the bush. Atleast they're trying to find caring homes. That is what I thought.. The ad makes the little tikes sound like wonderful little dogs - I hope they find great homes soon..
-
That is a whole lot nicer than it could be... They could just drop them off at a pound or worse, set them free in the street... Sure they pass the buck a bit and try to justify the dog being over weight etc but at least they are trying to rehome themselves... Good on them for at least giving the rehome a go... I agree that it is sad that some people don't see their pets as a lifetime commitment like we dog lovers but not everyone does.. Sad world that it is. Better the dogs be rehomed then stuck in a home where they aren't wanted....

Your two were lovely and played really nice with the other dogs... We had heaps of balls there last weekend and even Coco (my last foster, who is extremely ball possessive) was awesome playing with all the other dogs... She surprised even me and I think it is the environment... All the dogs seem happy and playful, so they all just chill out... I cant wait to pick her up tomorrow... I really need someone to temp care for her until Friday but if I can't I am just going to have to crate her on Thursday and get my son to loom after her on Friday... I don't think she even has a name yet... There is a pic of her in the urgent rescue thread, in Queanbeyan pound thread... She is the little tan staffy cross girl... -

My last foster girl, who was a bossy stafford was there last Sunday and even she was fine... It is a really good mix of dogs all the time... I have no problems with Ziggy as he is submissive and if growled at, he just wals away or rolls over... Big boofer probably outweighs a lot of the dogs there but he is just there to run and have fun. I am going to try and get a video camera before we come on Sunday... It is supposed to rain all weekend but I think we will still go at 10 am and just deal with the washing of the muddy dog when we get home... He loves it so much, it seems almost let abuse not to take him... We will have our new foster baby (4 month old staffy cross girl) but she won't be able to come this time as she will need to be vaccinated...but maybe the next week she will be fine to come... -
Thanks for sharing, I am so glad that Zig isn't the only mud monster... I have laughed out loud at all the muddy antics...
