Importing Into Nz Or Exporting Semen From Nz.
Silvawilow replied to Blakbelgian's topic in Breeders Community
We looked into exporting our girl to NZ for a breeding but it worked out to be more economical and less paperwork to just import the semen. Wayrod was great with supply the flight/AQIS costs and the VCA office were really good too. -
Your avitar says your from SA - I spoke to the staff at Noah's Crossing and they were fantastic regarding AI's using frozen semen - very friendly and informative in a way I could easily understand!

In my answers I'm only referring to the breed I'm in as I'm not overly familar with other breeds standards and purpose of the breed. Our breed standard: A full complement of strong white teeth should meet in a scissor bite or may meet in a level bite. Disqualification: Undershot. Overshot greater than .3 cm (1/8 in). Loss of contact caused by short centre incisors in an otherwise correct bite shall not be judged undershot. Teeth broken or missing by accident shall not be penalised. Q: How important is it in the showring for correct detention. A: I think it's not only important for the showring but also in regards to potenital breedings. In saying that I would not "throw out the baby with the bathwater" if a dog had 1 or 2 missing teeth but if breeding with that dog would research pedigree combinations very very very throughly. Q: Should a dog win if missing teeth? A: Depends on how many missing teeth it has - P1's bother me less than PM's. Should dogs with tiny tiny teeth be put up over dogs with 1 missing tooth? Q: If so how many missing is okay? A: For me 1 or 2 missing is not the end of the world. Q: Should a Challenge Cert be awarded? A: Depends on how many missing teeth and also the overall quailty of the dog against the standard. If it's a outstanding example of the breed with 1 missing tooth vs a very average dog with full dentition then I'd go the dog with the missing tooth. Q: Should correct bite win everytime over bad bite? A: A bad bite (undershot/overshot) should not be in the ring. So long as the dog has a bite that's acceptable under our standard I can't see there being a problem. Q: Do judges really look or know what they are looking for? A: It's like all aspects of the breed standard - some do and some don't! We've had a dog refused a few years ago under a o/s for having part of his incisor snapped - most of the tooth was still there! But that's dog showing and his now in our "don't go there" spreadsheet :-)

Righto - so it's okay for you to express your thoughts and personal opinion on the topic and not others! You did give us your opinion. The topic isn't about "why we dislike people that dislike children" or "why we dislike people that are rude to children", but I guess you got confused. I think maybe you're the one who's confused - perhaps I didn't spell it out clearly enough for some ;) Hopefully this is easy enough to understand - I don't understand why it's anyone elses business who likes/dislikes children - does it really matter? Yes I did state my personal opinion but then so did you when you insulted those who defended thier children as being that way due to "raging hormones" :)
-
Thank you :) Good point and well articulated - will take that on board for next time. Righto - so it's okay for you to express your thoughts and personal opinion on the topic and not others!

Great outcome!

I prefer honesty and cannot stand the sugar coated dribble that some people like ;) The person was rude IMO - why should I have to lie to make that person feel fluffy on the inside?
-
Huh? I don't give a flying fruit tingle if other people like kids or dislike them so long as it doesn't affect my life who cares. I do have a problem with those who are openly rude to innocent children. On the flip side - I don't refer to my dogs as furkids - but if others want to refer to their pets in that way good for them - it doesn't affect my life.
-
Yep agreed - haven't generally seen anyone make that statement on here. However, in saying that I have experinced in the Supermarket the odd person (with no child in tow) glaring at my daughter who's always seated in the trolley and as we shop we chat about the products I'm buying, not one of those loud obnoxious children. Sadly she has noticed once and when she asked why that person was glaring at her I simply told her that they were a "rude and ugly inside" to which they had the decency to blush and hurry away.
-
Well said. This is basically how I feel! I love our daughter but don't care for spoilt naughty children. Likewise I love our dogs but don't like dogs with no manner and dogs where you can see their "third eye"
-
Ahk - good point! But then if you going on the smelly thing you need to add people who've consumed alcohol as you can smell it on them, smokers, people with body odour, tacky aftershave - the list goes on and on!
-
For me add smelly people and those who scratch themselves a lot!
-
You should be able to expect that a normal, adult, male/obese/whoever, can act like a calm adult. Regardless, if the person smelt really bad or threw up in their lap or something, I'd consider it within my rights to quietly find a hostess/host and ask to be moved! Sheesh! Babies and very young children are generally unpredictable in that regard, and are also not capable of reasoning. Discrimination my butt if someone doesn't want to sit next to a baby. I don't see anywhere in my post where I mentioned the behavior of an obese person/male person? Not really sure where you pulled that from?
-
I do have a issue with the lady not wanting to sit next to the child on the plane - just plain discrimination and uncalled for. I'm sure there would have been a uproar if she'd have asked not to be seated next to a obese person or a male.

I'm not trigger happy but will defend my property if the situation calls for it. I am, however, "pound happy" - after returning our neighbours (2 doors down)dog every day from our yard for 2 months and also making our yard fairly secure against dogs trying to get it I ended up having jack of it comming over every day, stiring my dogs up from the front yard, pooping and digging up our yard that I now drop it off at the shelter whenever I catch it. They must have more money than sense cause by my calcultions they're over $1000 in release fees

I buy my leads from Donna Puttock. Usually get 3ft leather ones made to match my suits!

Nope - my opinion would not change. Again I still would prefer a cleaner kill shot though.

If someone cannot have children and decides to get a dog and treat it with as much importance as they would have done with a child, what is so bad about that? ...um...because they are a dog, not a child. People make a big deal out of not andromorphing (sp? humanising) animal behaviour on this forum. I think treating a pet as a child AND also feeling a dislike towards children, could be unhealthy. As far as humanising pets I think it is is a 'biggie' in this area. Again, just my personal opinion. Lol - there's a big difference between children and animals - I know I'd freak out if my daughter started licking her butt! I don't have a problem with people treating their animals like people so long as they set boundaries just as you would with a child. In saying that I do not believe that animals should have the same rights as people - i.e. being able to stay in resorts, etc - not everyone has clean, non-smelly, defleaed animals.
-
Are you serious (re bolded bit)? I think it'd be terrible to lose a Police Officer who is capable to fufill their duties because they reacted in a way to ONE situation that some animal radicals do not approve of - when the blame lies SOLELY at the roaming dogs' owners feet. Another option if you want them fired is to make the owner of the two dogs to pay the full costs to train a new officer to take the dismissed officers place! That might encourage them to keep their dogs contained. I simply cannot comprehend how people can blame the Beagle or it's owner???? So what if the dog was chained - even if just for 10 minutes - bottom line is those two dogs should not have been roaming. If a stray dog came into our property and started to menace our fowl I would have no quarms in shooting it if the ACO's didn't arrive in time.
-
I agree - I to would be livid if that was my dog being attacked by roaming dogs and I had to wait around for "the right people" to arrived. I think it's unfair to expect police to be experts in canine behavior - they are overstretched already as it is. I would have preferred that the dog was dispatched of more quickly but it's not a perfect world. In the end it comes down to the meancing dogs' owner not being responsible and keeping their dogs contained and if people want to blame someone they should be pointing their fingers at them, not the Police who were just doing their job.
