  1. That's okay - I'm having a lot of those "moments" at present - I blame this hitchiker in my tummy! I had a big one at Bendigo on Sat, almost cried over a run - my novice dog was passing, only 3 jumps to go, I had a brain fart and sped up, dog lost his flow and boy did I cop it from a few as soon as I left the ring "all your fault Lisa" Hopefully Wang will have lots of entries and that will help the club, fingers crossed!
  2. From a personal viewpoint - very disappointed. One of the reasons I loved running this trial so much was the small entry, single ring format which gave it a lovely laid back feel, and allowed everyone to sit around watching and cheer on everyone else whether they were clear or not - something sadly missing from trials these days as everyone is too busy running around and only worries about themselves. Plus having the late start was nice and relaxing too. I was planning on my young boy making his debut here as I thought it would be a good first trial atmosphere for him, but will rethink that now. From the club's viewpoint - it is probably a way smarter decision. I'm sure they will get a much bigger entry this time as people are more likely to travel the distance to get more runs in - plus the choice of games for those who like them are there too. And I admire this little club so much for still offering agility trials when a lot of the bigger city clubs have pulled the pin and put them in the 'too hard' basket - so I hope they do well. Agree with you 100% about the single day event being a relaxed atmosphere, my sister loved it and she did her first trial this year at Albury and competed again at Bendigo. You can blame me, I'm doing the agility side of the trial I suggested the double trial in the hope that it attracts more entrants because Wang is a very small club and a boost in entry's will really help. We've also organised sponsors for the rings because buying ribbons & trophy's is expensive. This year NQ will also recieve ribbons (had some grumbles about NQ not getting ribbons). Plus my husband is making the trophies (he makes solid timber furniture) - redgum, jarrah and vic ash wooden ones with little wooden dog silhouettes on them. He made some for our "Battle of the Bush" inter-country club competition last year and people loved them!
  3. What do you guys think about the agility being a double trial on one day instead of a single trial over 2 days? Helen - what time do you get up, what an early bird
  4. I'm sorry, I didn't pick em. A lot of the Victorian judges said they couldn't do it because of the Nationals.

  6. Whoo hoo, another brag for us! Bendigo agility trial on Saturday: Denny (Sarasota Phantom Menace) - Pass, 2nd place Novice Jumpers Kira (Kizza GD SPD CD JD) - Pass, 3rd place Excellent Jumpers
  7. No trial within one hour fifteen minutes from us up here I'm happy to travel up to 7hrs (return) for a trial. Most are a minimum of 4hrs (return) from us anyway.
  8. Does anyone know of somebody who may be interested in handling a dog for this?!?!? I'd love for Kiz to do ET, however, I'll be about 5 1/2 + months by then and I'm already running out of puff now
  9. Denny (Sarasota Phantom Menace) passed at his first attempt in the trial ring at Albury on Saturday in the CCD class He scored 93/100 and won the ring too!
  10. I think Shelly's local club trains on a Sunday, correct me if I'm wrong Shelly. Not only is the seminar temping LP, but how could you resist a weekend with my 3 nuts plus Mista Twista
  11. Hi folks, Just letting you know that there are still a few working spots available if anyone's interested. Cheers Lisa
  12. With all the dog's, commands in order below: 1: Name 2: Drop 3: Stay 4: Recall
  13. I put this in the Setter's thread but my little yellow deserves a mention here too: Well we did the tracking clinic this weekend just gone and Narmi was fantastic She got the idea so quickly, I was very proud mumma! Her article indication was great, she picked the sock up and brought it back to me (lovely retrieve)! Once she had done it once (tracked) when it came time for her second turn she nearly pulled me off my feet when she realised she was coming up to the tracklayer!!!!!
  14. That's basically what our club does but I was having trouble explaining it The "trainees" got a bit offended at first when I told them they were going to be "floaters" This program seems to be working well for our club and having enthuastic and willing members is always a help!
  15. I was just wondering if anybody knew where to buy regulation agility equipment from in Victoria Our club is looking at purchasing a new tyre, A-frame, table, a tunnel chute and some extra jumps. TIA
  16. Hey peoples, Just letting anyone who's interested know that there's now only 5 working places left! Cheers Lisa
  17. At our club we don't have the luxury of hundreds of members to choose from as possible instructors - I think we've got a grand total of about 70 members this year. Our new instructors don't have to do exams, homework or tests. They shadow a more experienced instructor for approximately 2 months (depending on their own experience and inter-personal skills) and then, if they are suitable to be an instructor, they are placed in charge or a higher level class i.e. CCD, Novice, etc. Beginners and the next level above at our club are only taken by instructors with many years experience. We also offer our instructors their own training class which runs at the same time as beginners. That way we get to see how they are going themselves with their own dogs, we insure that they don't miss out on training just because they've volunteered their time to help the club and we also get to talk about any problems in class we're having with particular dogs/handlers, problem solving, trouble shooting, etc.
  18. There's a few Aussie's going to be there now (and some handlers without their Aussies) I'm even thinking I might do the domestic thing and make soup for the lunch on Saturday for everyone - it's about the only thing that I cook really goooood!
  19. An auditor basically does all the a working participant does, auditors can walk the exercises and they can ask questions. The only real difference is that an auditor doesn't get to run the through the exercises with their dog. As an auditor you can take as many or as little notes as possible!
  20. Hi Shelly, You should come along as an auditor because what is being taught you can start to put into practice in your training! We have a few members from our club who are fairly new and are auditing for a day each.

Please PM or email me if you would like to participate or have any questions Lisa
  22. That's because yours isn't such a big target :p Besides it's motivation for the handler to get her commands correct so as not to tick the dog off and be reprimanded by the dog for giving slow cues
  23. :p Crazy enough - makes me THRILLED to see it as I've been working this past week on just SPEED.... If that is the effort of 1 week of 'remedial' training - I can't wait to see what else he has to offer .... Maybe he'll be a 'working spot' after all . No more trials for us for a little while though I loved the run! I must say even my nut hasn't kamikazied off the seesaw - Leo's one up for that He looked like he was having a blast!!! We're doing Bendigo's double agility trial on 11th May and then that's it until Wangaratta in August (where I'll have to kidnap handlers, I'll be a turtle by then)
  24. OMG, in the agility run it looked like Leo has been channeling a black dog I know
