  1. PM Pippi. I think she's over your way or close by anyways!
  2. Um, I think I'll have to pass, sorry. I can't have two Aussie's who stop short on recalls in my yard At least you've advertised "to good home" and you're not up to the "any home" stage
  3. Wasn't sure whether to put this in OT or here but seeing as how it's realted to dog sports I thought in here! Just wondering what ankle braces/support people recommend. I competed in my first agility trial since May and found my ankle was rather unstable and is now a bit swollen. I have had ankle issues in the past and have always tape it but found it wasn't enough. I do have a brace that laces up at the front but find it a bit difficult to run in. If anyone has any other braces or tape methods I would love to know!
  4. I second that recommendation. Over the years I have bought heaps of stuff from them and they are fantastic. I'll third that recommendation. I too have brought lots of stuff and it always arrives very quickly and service is fantastic and friendly!
  5. WTG Jess and Darcy and to get placed in such a large class Congratulations on your title Superminty, what a nice way to end the year! Go Leo go!!! I really enjoyed watching both of you in that ran, both looked to be enjoying it! My turn, my feral Miss Kira got her 3rd pass in Excellent Jumpers Denny had brain farts in his first Jumpers run and Pairs run but redeemed himself in his Snooker and other Jumpers run by trying very hard. My Narmi (who is not known for her agility prowess) only had a wrong tunnel entry in Novice Jumpers due to some nit who was handling her pointing to the wrong entry, stupid me, LOL! Considering that I haven't trained her since lord knows when (it was either early this year or late last year, and even then it was really foundation work) I am so proud of her effort.
  6. I am curious to know how many ISDS type BC's you know & what you think the difference between them & the ones out in the sticks is? I'm guessing either you don't know too many or your are making assumptions about purity. Sorry Vickie, should have explained myself a little better I know a few isds bc's (oops for getting the registry wrong) and have seen them in action in agility, fantastic to watch (I haven't seen any competing in obedience, tracking or herding down here in Vic) but the dogs out in the sticks on the local sheep and dairy farms that I was refering to and that I've seen and admired working have a lot shorter coat, like a smooth coat. Also should add on my list of likes is the Huntaway - apologies if I've spelt wrong. edited: casue I didn't see PF's other post referring to the dog's know are on sporting register.
  7. Aussie people and ANKC fanatics will probably shoot me down in flames for this, however, my first choice would be a working border collie, not the big ankc show type and no the isdn type but the type you see on a working property out in the sticks. Not the prettiest dogs' in the world but man talk about drive and devotion! My second choice would be an aussie becuase they are (the one's I've had/got) are easy to train, want to please and consistant. One breed/type I would not want trial are gundogs (with the exception of brittany's and tollers). Narmi (I know she's a cross of 2 gundogs) is so smart and learns thing rather quickly and is very willing to please and try hard when first learning but after that the little yellow cow gives me the middle claw and won't even leave the start peg in a trial. I'm just not the right trainer/handler for gundogs I think.
  8. My gazebo hasn't even looked like taking off, even survived the awful weather of Lancefield where as many others didn't. If it's really windy we just double peg it. I fitted mine inside my Getz, very cosy but still managed. Now that I have the Viva there's no issue!!!!! I started off with a pop up family sized sun shade thingy but it gets too hot in summer (weird cause that's what it's designed for). If it's just me and one dog going to a trial/show I tend to try to borrow some umbrellas, one for the trolley and one for me! What about an umbrella tent? I'll have my gazebo with me on Sat if you want to check it out LP.
  9. Sorry for the loss of your beautiful dog RIP Monster
  10. Supercheap Auto have a sale on atm and are selling their gazebo's for $129, not sure of the quality. I started with a tent but graduated to a gazebo because I found I needed the extra space. I've got roof racks on my car so that's a help when travelling.
  11. Jugiong is near Gundahguy (spl) that place where the dog's on the tucker box).
  12. I'm not sure what's offered round your way, I know Albury does agility training once a month on a Thursday night. There's also Deb Kelly who's at Jugiong.
  13. Thanks for that suggestion, with my brain atm I would never have thought of a barrier. Will get hubby onto it!
  14. Our 5 year old Border Collie (dairy farm dog) x Golden Retriever, Kira, has recently become obsessed with our outdoor fish. She stands there all day "holding" the fish and the only time she stops is when I lock her in the dog pen and also at night time. This behaviour started about 2 weeks before I had my baby and it's getting worse because now she's not eating unless we stand there and make her eat. I would not say that much has changed since our baby was born, if anything the dogs get more attention because we are walking daily with our daughter and I'm home all day. I have no idea how to stop this behaviour and I'm sure it's not healthy. Kira is very enthuastic about everything she does, obedience, herding, agility, tracking, flyball, free running down the river. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
  15. We had friends stay at Hopkins River CP and they recmmended it, said it was very clean, neat and good amenities. We stayed at the one opposite the big park on the left that backed on the beach. I think it was the first of 2 CP's on that road. Would not stay there again, basic amenities, dirt road. I may be a bit fussy having worked as Tourism Officer for large municipality but this one didn't even have a games/tv room.
  16. I've never done ebay before, do I just register and then instructions will be sent? Do they take direct deposits in bank accounts? I want that purple 3 piece!
  17. A little wild definately makes it more interesting as a spectator although her "backchat" does my head in sometime! Funny thing is though she's not feral at all when tracking, very enthuastic, but more workman like, weird. A little feral to start with when herding but then settles down (for Kiz anyways) and obedience, nearly flips over herself try to run, retrieve dumbell, and turn all at once Congratulations on your Gamblers pass ;)
  18. I had my dogs measured at the first possible trial I could on the day of the competition - I just checked with the trial secretary first. Most are pretty understanding that we here in the country don't have competitions week in week out and driving 5 hour round trip to have dog measured is a little unreasonable. I measured all mine before the comp and the one that I thought may be borderline height wise I put in the next height category just to be safe!
  19. Thanks, I was happy that she made it and was only semi-Kira for her handler You guys got a pass in something too?!?! I saw some of your PM run and it looked good
  20. Just wanted to post that Kira got a Excellent Jumpers pass yesterday at Knox, 3rd place!
  21. Good luck at the trial people! I'm out for the rest of the year but will be back at it sometime mid next year with Denny and Kira!
  22. Don't worry laffi, Leopuppy's been a real meanie today. :p to LP! You guys have to pick a date when my baby is due to arrive, grr. Anybody want to drive the D Train? Little bugger has decided that a recall involves coming at a good steady pace and then sitting 2ft in front, even when mum has a a chicken breast in her hand
  23. LP. Actually you know what, you're just jealous that I could hide a small army of toys under my rather overly ample chest - naked games, bring em on ;) Absolutly agree, good heeling from the begining is a MUST. Denny, IMO, can heel to Open standard and is the best of my trio. The reasons for this is a) I've already screwed up with Kiz b) I don't accept anything but perfect (as can be) and therefore will not venture into the ring until I am confident of not only passing but winning the ring. I'm quiet happy if we lose a point on heel & recall but anything else really means, again IMO, that we will have quiet a few difficulties when we enter the next level. Because of being taught, perhaps not the most progressive way and not being told that almost is not good enough, I have had to pull Kira from the obedience ring becuase she is not consistant with her heeling and I have to retrain her - I believe she's a product of only training for Encouragement (CCD) ring. Take LP up on her offer, I would
