  1. What about all the donations given to help with vet treatment etc over the years on DOL ? Does this mean that has all been illegal? Are rescuers on here no longer able to accept funds to help rescued dogs they have fostered? How many times have bank details been given out on here? It would be a great shame if this wasn't allowed to continue! So many dogs have been given a new lease on life thanks to generous Dolers.
  2. The dog in question, will never be put up for sale, one of the organistaions staff wants her, which was how the breeder found out the girl wound up there in the first place. The staff member thought this girl looked of this breeders "type" and so emailed the breeder letting them know that this dog had been surrendered to the organisation. They did not find a chip initially or they would have known who the breeder was straight away, as she is second contact on the chip, it wasn't until the breeder was told what area the person who surrendered the dog lived in, that she gave them a chip number of 1 possible dog. Sure enough after scanning the dog the chip numbers matched. She was informed that the staff member would be taking the girl home once she was desexed. The dog in question had already had a tubal ligation before she left the breeder and had suffered cardiac and respitory distress once the gaseous anaesthetic was turned off, she was however successfully stabilised with intravenous fluids and Dopram. But will remain as "high risk" when it comes to any future anaesthetics. The organisation did not take the breeder seriously about the risk involved to the dog if she was put under, and do not accept Tubal Ligation as truly sterile. The breeder had to get her vets practice manager to ring and fax through the dogs medical history and a copy of the letter re her anaesthetic issues that was provided to the original owner so they would not put her life at risk with an unnecessary operation. The person who surrendered the dog is not the person on the chip, they do not even share the same surname. So the breeder got in contact with her states (SA) canine council and had there lawyer fax through to the organisation copies of the dogs micro chip details and her contract with the original owner. She was quite happy to pay the organisation the standard fee to get the dog back, but has now had contact from the organisations lawyer informing her not to contact anybody from the said organisation at all, and any contact or questions about the dog need to go through the law firm hired by the organisation. She has been told by the lawyer she will not be getting the dog back, it is now the property of the organisation (and soon to be property, if not already of one of their staff members). I cannot believe that an organisation that relies on donations from the public to survive, can throw away money that is supposed to be used to save dogs lives, so a breeder cant take back responsibility of a dog she bred? I hate to think how much time and money has been wasted in this case, not to metion other "less desirable" dogs that may have been passed over whilst this dog that has had a home to go to all along takes up kennel space, food and other resources. As a pet owner (I am not a breeder) it scares the crap out of me that one of my dogs could be surrendered by someone who's name does not appear on the microchip. Good breeders really have their work cut out what a nightmare!
  3. "What sort of organisation would support the practice of refusing to recognize a legal contract between a breeder and a puppy buyer that states unequivocally that if they are unable to care for the dog it is to be returned to the breeder. This dog is sterilized and chipped prior to being sold .This organisation did not scan the bitch for a chip. They then allowed an employee to put her name on the dog ready for taking home once they desexed the dog as it was a tubal ligation that sterilized her and they dont recognize that so will perform unnecessary surgery on an already sterilized bitch". "When I am contacted by the employee as she recognized her as my type and I say it cant be as all mine are chipped. The bitch is finally scanned and .............what do you know there is the chip". "So do they ...recognize the contract and return the dog to the breeder , or do they go with......... oh well your problem is with the buyer we legally are entitled to do what ever to the bitch be that unnecessary operations / rehome to a member of staff or if they want to they can if they find a reason they deem as true they can euthanise her". "So here we have a bitch who has a breeder who DOES take each and everyone of my dogs back no matter when or where for life who is always the second contact on the microchip has a legal binding contract requiring the return of the bitch and I cant stop this organization who is publicly funded to look after the welfare of unwanted animals. They can use the resources funded by YOU to waste on a bitch who has a home, which means some poor dog who isn't as valuable as a purebred wanted by one of there own employees is missing out and possibly euthanised because they dont have the space for it". "So breeders those of you who thought what you were doing was enough..........WRONG at any time in Australia these huge Animal organizations CAN if they get hold of one of your dogs decide to give , sell, or kill your dog" . "From now on the very least we need to do is have your name not as a second contact but as joint on every microchip .......HOWEVER you have to know they have one of your dogs they will NOT scan a surrendered dog....if they did then maybe they would have to return it which wouldn't give them carte blanche to take that purebred and do what ever the hell they want with it". "Friday night I found out that the partner of the woman who bought this dog surrendered and signed the surrender .........that partner has never, nor do they now own the registration or Microchip identification. So this means anyone can surrender any dog so long as they sign the surrender form to say they own it, and unless you find out and have way more luck than me you wont see that dog or know where it has gone ever again". "I have had a solicitors letter telling me I am not allowed to contact anyone staff ,volunteers , board members anyone at all within this organisation except the solicitor they appointed using public money raised to supposedly save UNWANTED pets".
