  5. Hi guys, Well, here's my first time at filming and posting my dogs working My 8 yr old daughter was filming so I'm surprised he stayed focused that long b4 needing a cuddle
  6. Congrats to all of you Good work to Ness, from what you've said sounds like she put in a great effort. How Exciting !!!!!! Good luck for open
  7. I am looking forward to Acteon's open debut & the lovely Roxy (who I am still to meet with her new owner) in Ccd? We are holding a mock novice rally-o trial too, after the obedience has finished, hope you will hang around for it ;) Yeah CCD, she's pretty solid on the general work but stays have been an entirely new concept. Rally O afterwards.......... maybe, see how the day goes.
  8. Congrats everyone! Yep......still waiting for the first 2010 trial for me :D Looking like Acteon will have his first open appearance and Roxy will debut at the May Ulverston OT :D
  9. Well done everyone! Great photos, who are the BC's (4 rows from bottom)? Very pretty dogs. I was trying to pick everyone else from their dogs photos, think I kinda figured it out!
  10. I tend to practice stays with at least 2 dogs at the same time - so I usually mix it up sometimes have them next to each other sometimes have dogs inbetween. I will always make sure that if I reward 1 I will always reward the other. Sometimes I will return to one and then leave and return to the other one. I have a release word and they must not move until they hear that word - so I tend to say exercise finished a few times before giving the release word. I have started doing "stays" I use the term very loosely with Cider - I started with just one of the other kids next to Cider and I am now up to having all 5 in the driveway. At the moment I am practicing her not moving - so I turn and walk away and return and reward all the kids and give another verbal and walk to the end of the drive and return starting down the other end of the lineup rewarding. At the moment the reward rate is really really high and I am hoping that this will just reinforce what the older kids already know. I also don't tend to do down stays very often. Because most of the people I train with have their own dogs to do stays with I don't tend to get people to help me at training very often. Its on trial day that I sometimes have to call for help - and thanksfully Rubystar put her hand up on Saturday and I have to say she did a tremendous job. I used to give other people Blaize to handle in stays as I could bet my house on the fact that she would stay put - it was just getting her into the ring and avoiding other dogs that was the problem. I tend to always handle Scoota as he is a bit of a handful. Thanks for explaining That all makes sense, I might give it a go.
  11. Hi guys, Just wondering if any body got the full results for both days as I had to miss Sat. I thought Sundays show went well, some very beautiful dogs there. I also enjoyed seeing the mainland dogs that came down, very nice
  12. Congrats to all those title gainers! Sorry to hear it didn't work out Ruby star, fingers crossed for next time Real question here Ptolomy.... how do you get all three dogs working together like this? years ago I used to do stays together with my two girls but returning was always an issue of extremely tight timing. Do you practise group stays at home or do you usually get another handler to help you? just interested now I've got multiple dogs on the go again
  13. Congratulations!!!! What a fantastic score as well, Well done! I'm interested to hear your score at the next trial, surly the confidence of already having your title will relax both of you a little more
  14. Sounds like an entertaining day, if not for you and the dog then for everyone else! Congrats on the Masters Q. Well done, I'm very impressed!
  15. Thank god you questioned the first opinion and sought further answers! Seem to be hearing a few similar stories. Did you contact the first vet and inform them of the dogs actual score?
  16. Wow, her dam sounds like one special girl! Congratulations!!!
  17. Disgraceful behaviour!! I would love to say more but this is not the place. 'No thank you' is an appropriate response last time I checked.
  18. Oh yeah, I can relate to that. I'm thinking this hydrobath idea is a great one. My girl had just been done when I picked her up and her coat's been a lot quicker to strip out. Acteon's still going after a bath and going through his coat with a rake every day I'm going to bath him again today and try and blow it out with the dryer.
  19. We could probably all relate to that, however Barb with that many titles I think you both have it worked out fairly well. Go for it! Recently a good friend of mine got her TD with a dog that had been retired due to a cruciate and she's so happy she made the decision to give it a go. Good Luck!!!
  20. Check out the current thread "Moving From Novice To Open" by Zug Zug, I've been following it as I'm currently training for open too.
