  1. [quote name='Yarrowfell' On my website I just just didn't put who the Dad was and I explained to Puppy owners why I did a Dual Sire. None had any problem with it. Thanks yarrowfel, good to know you didn't have any issues
  2. I was also wondering today... What exactly do you tell potential puppy buyers of the parentage? I'd be interested to know how you would display this on for eg. your website, and if puppy buyers understand that pups a, b and c are sired by dog (A), while pups d, e and f are sired by dog (B). Would love to know how much ppl have disclosed to puppy buyers, what responses have been and if you'd approach it differently next time. Not that it really matters what the public think, rather the benefit of your own breed and to carry on for yourself, but a lot of puppies will go to pet homes. Cheers
  3. That's exactly what I needed to know I was thinking the real benefits would be if you had a hit and miss male but wanted to cover your chances of a litter. Was also hoping it wasn't restricted to AI. I know the TCA recognize it so know I just need to confirm the GSDCA does not have any additional restrictions. Thanks heaps guys :D
  4. So Just to clarify, can anyone please answer the following: - Is intention of a dual sire mating required prior to the matings taking place in order fot the litter to be recognized and registered? - Is the only option AI, or could combinations be used e.g fresh AI(dog a) actual mating (dog b)? - Is it expected or restricted to - semen/matings for dog A and dog B to occur on the same day? - Are there any breed council restrictions known which may impact on participating in other breed schemes? I can't think of anything else right now but would love answers to the above. Thanks in advance :D

  6. Good luck Ish, who's the lucky mum to be?
  7. Congratulations!!!!! I can imagine you must have been feeling just awful waiting to find out. Best of luck for the next few weeks
  8. Woo Hooooo!!!! Looking forward to puppy pics
  9. Oh so sorry SnoFyre Good luck, poor little girl. Congrats to everyone and their beautiful babies!!! Thankfully the best thing out of all this for us is that Roxy seems pretty much normal and not going to throw us a dreaded phantom. I was not really looking forward to dealing with that. Well I guess it's better luck next time.
  10. Congratulations Fanuilos!!! Photos????? Bordercollies4me, how lucky are you?! Great photos, very cute
  11. My bitch was scanned at 28days, no puppies. The vet did offer to do a re-scan in two weeks just to make sure so we're booked in this Thu. This bitch is proven, 2 previous litters, last one born Sept 09 but I've never used my boy before so who knows. I'm not getting my hopes up but gee it would be nice, this litters becoming more for his breeder than for me and I'm feeling the pressure because I want it all to be OK Did your vet not offer to do another scan a fortnight after the first?
  12. Good luck Ish. I'm in need of some baby photos Best of luck to everyone else as well!!!!!
  13. All my GSD's have had an intense focus to 'herd' kids away from water. You'll be walking along the beach, maybe an occasional circle, then as soon as the kid turns towards the water... SWOSH!!! the dog instantly tightens the circle or gently guides them back up the beach. The more subtle version is where the dog sits by the pool and acts as guardian to it's kids......no way in hell you're going to distract that dog from keeping watch of it's little ppl I've also heard of GSD's jumping into pools/dams and pulling kids out to stop them drowning
  14. Not good news from us Went for a 28 day ultrasound and nothing there. Judging from her other signs he thinks she's probably going to give us a phantom. He's offered to do me another ultrasound in a fortnight free of charge just to make sure but I think he felt a bit sorry for us. We really needed this litter for my boys line so another dog was out of the question. Will check his viability and if it's a no goer well.........
  15. Agree! I've been reading it cover to cover over the last year or so. Best book I've spent money on I think.
  16. Congrats bel, looks like you'll be about 1/2 a week ahead of me ;) We're at week 3 today, nipples look to have been swelling over the last 2 weeks so I'm thinking things are good. I was going to do an ultrasound at week 4 but I'm not sure if I shouldn't wait till week 6 now. I'm just so impatient though....I want to know now! :p
  17. Congrats gapvic!!! All the best for the next few weeks
  18. Any luck with the neighbours Caroliina?
  19. So how is everyone going???? You're all way ahead of me......I'm just waiting around for the first signs.
  20. Yep, agree GSD's are boundary dogs, it's what they were breed for. Also some can be real whingers! That high pitch....I'm lonely.....I'm sad.....I'm lonely, can really get to ppl. If you can keep your dog inside away from distractions and away from any large glass windows/doors which may amplify the sound it may improve. I live next to an overly aggressive fence barker and it drives me mad!!!!! it is occasionally corrected but sometimes it just makes me sad and mad for what the dog is expected to endure while shut outside. Best of luck.
  21. Hi Guys, Can you add me in please  German Shepherd Dog - looks like March 23
  22. So sorry for your loss Pers, I had a blue budgie as a kid. I named him 'True Blue' or 'bluey' (bad I know), lol! I bought him with my birthday money on my 8th birthday for which I had waited for what seemed like an eternity. The months leading up to it I had borrowed how to books from my neighbours and read up on training birds, so when mum saw I was serious we went to pick out our little fella. He was the one on the middle perch that cocked his head when I said "hello" and came down for a closer look. I had him finger trained in no time and in a few weeks he had worked up quite a vocabulary. one morning as I was eating breakfast, mum walked past the cage when bluey very clearly chimed "hello old girl!" Us kids were of course Turned out dad had been working with him for some time without letting anyone else know and blueys' timing had been spot on He sadly passed away when he was 8. They give us beautiful memories. RIP little Nary
  23. Totally agree. There's no way I'd be leaving my bitch in season in the backyard. She's inside in her own bedroom, never goes out to the toilet without human attendance and is separated inside from the other dogs by two rooms so we can always keep them separated while moving everyone in and out of living areas. Thankfully the OP was kind enough and lucky enough to have details to contact the owners. I've frequently saved strays off the streets around my place and very rarely get more than an "oh yeah, thanks". Only slight exception was when I saved an 7yr labradoodle that had no ID but a council tag. I had to wait till the council contacted the owner and they then contacted me. She was so panicked that her 'dogs' had got out. I had to let her know we only had the one, you can imagine how she must have felt! 30min later her very disorientated 12yr terrier mix trotted past the house and I was able to coax it inside. The relief on the womans face when she picked them up was priceless, and she was obviously embarrassed. Venting after such an emotional day is completely normal, and for a bitch in heat!
