Could the new owner of wolf join Wildpaws? I joined it some time ago. We now have a 16month old female malamute, which we will NEVER give up. We now have Benji the poodle and still have my son's chihauhua also. tis just like a zoo when people visit here, 2 little dogs barking their heads off and a huge dog which just loves to jump up on them....she is still like a pup, but with more training she wont jump up so much, we can live in hope lol Cheryl Wildpaws Alaskan Malamute forum

Benji lives in high house...with 14 stairs at the back...and yes i did count them...didnt want them to be 13 lol. he's trained now..but omg was hard..we had to climb those stairs many times to get him to pee outside. Now he sits at door when he wants out..he climbs the stairs himself on his own now LOL

RIP max such a horrible thing to happen. I just feel for you Springergirl.

Can you tie his lead to you?? Maybe that would help cause he wouldnt pee tied to you. He then has go with you wherever you go in the house, even if he wants to sleep, sure make him tired to sleep at nite also.

Well, benji aint thanking you all.......after reading all this, i took him into the bathroom..but powder on my fingers...and pulled his hairs outta his ears

I only do volunteer work, but OH is home all the time. He's retired..best life for Benji cause he just hates to be alone. As to disposal $$$ well we sure dont have left over $$ but Benji isnt missing out on anything. As to chicken necks..I used to chop them up to give to benji when he was a pup. Now he's 6 months old and i give them whole to him. There are much better bones for pups, as others have said. My main point here being, toilet training is best done if people are home all time. Everytime a pup does a pee inside, tis a backward step.

My kittens used to sorta bite also, but used to put my fingers down their throat, and that stopped them. So when i got my GSD, i did the same to him, cept my whole arm. Now, Im NOT saying do this, cause i think back now, and im glad i still have my arm.. i know he could have bitten it off.!! Benji did it also, but least he grew outta it, wasnt game now to put fingers down his throat lol

The time you said the family was in the garden playing around....maybe he thought he should go inside to pee as they were in his backyard..just a thought. Benji is so good now, he comes to us when he wants out, wont leave us alone til we take him. In the mornings he wakes up early, we put him on the bed..so we can sleep a bit more then get up, he's happy with that. Benji now knows he's not allowed on the bed unless we put him there, if he jumps up himself...we just put him off it. Benji wasnt toilet trained fully at 14 weeks.

Then why do some malamute breeders desex their dogs before sale?? Mals are huge when fully grown. As im buying one next year, i sure wont be buying a desexed pup.

Ok this is off topic sorry...but what about bringing a bigger breed pup in when you have a Toy??

Lucky you all..i live in Qld......grrrr eh?. Benji has always woken us up at 5am, but as as he's a toy, i've taken to put him on the bed with us...and.....yep..he goes back to sleep, Why I didnt think of this before now.. :rolleyes: I dont know.

Having a puppy had made me less vain and less uptight Great news deltron.....pups sure are great. when fully grown they are the best also. I felt so bad when I didnt have a dog, they sure make you feel good.

totally normal, benji did the same. He hasnt done anything inside now for bout a month, he's almost 6 months old now. Tis really an 'up and down' job...toilet training a pup,,just when u think he's trained...he does it inside again......but with patience..never smack him etc, he will be able to hold on til he gets outside.

Throw the paper and pads away, just take him outside..dont confuse him with the paper etc inside. I had to train our poodle..he's a male, all i did was take him outside...and wait and wait til he did something..either a poo or wee..then praise him. when he made a mistake inside..i just took him outside and said...wee. He soon learnt ..outside is for pees and poos.inside is for cuddles and food and cuddles.

Good advice from bluepoppy. Benji listens when we tell him no, and I think Cody will also. I usually sorta 'growl' at him..that works lol Good luck.

Oh dear, cant help you there kitty. omg he's so young to think of that though lol Benji is 5 months old now, and he hasnt humped our legs yet.......dont think he even thinks of it. Hope someone can help you,,,tis embarrassing when you have visitors. edited to add: we had a corgi years ago..but he was aged 7 months.not desexed, he used to tried to hump the male desexed cat. After we had him desexed, he never tried again. But Cody is still young, but when he's desexed that will solve it.

Funny you say that Kitty,,,cause we never see benji drinking water either..but the water bowl get's emptied. You have another dog also..Minx...so maybe he drinks the water also.Cody is fine, he's just so gorgeous.
