HI all, I am gathering more information regarding moving to a full raw diet for Charlie. Can anyone give me some ideas regarding a daily intake they currently give their pup? I am currently alternating between rmb, sardines, yogurt, raw egg with shell, a small amount of pet mince (got some for free will use til I run out) and puppy pro plan but want to phase out the kibble. I know this has been done to death, and I have read heaps and heaps of threads, I guess I'm just trying to get as much info as I can get my head around. I thank all you raw feeders in advance, Kindest Regards, Jacqui

Cop Accused Of Cruelty After Taking Two Shots To Kill Kangaroo
SeeGee replied to Steve's topic in In The News
So pleased to know that so many people here see the logic in this situation, its nice to be surrounded by like minded people. Its people like you that help my husband come home in a good frame of mind after a horrid night/day at work. Full support to the police officer, and lots of warm fuzzies to those already posted :-) -
Hi all, reading all the feeding topics I've come up a little confused. We normally feed a mixture of dry and chicken necks/sardines/RMB type of meal (alternating, not all at once LOL), but my mum bought over 2 kgs of chicken pet mince - it was on special and she thought she'd grab some for Charlie. I thought of getting some raw veges - carrot, pumpkin, zucchini, and chopping them up, and mixing it with the mince - but how much per serve? He gets fed twice a day. i dont want to over or under feed him and I get confused as to whats needed - chicken necks, bones, sardines portions are easy, I get that just fine.......this makes my head hurt :-) I've never been into pet mince much, doesnt really give him alot to *chew* on and it always seems so watery....anyway, it was free for me, mum thought she was doing me a favour (my mum loves her grandpuppy) and I'd like to utilise it in a healthy way for my little man. I have no problems prepping food, spending time in the kitchen to get it ready, so if anyone has any ideas, or feedback, please let me know! BTW, Charlie is a 8.5 month old male desexed beagle. Thanks for helping me! Jacqui

this is my understanding and if someone has another opinion or wants to correct please do. Dogs are pack animals. Your dog understands you are alpha and is waiting for you to finish in hopes that you will leave the scraps, or something more, for him/her. When my husband and i eat, charlie sits and watches us (or lays with his head facing away) - as a rule. When we feed him, he goes and lies on his bed and waits until the food is in the bowl and we have left the room before he goes to his bowl. This is not something we have taught him to do. When we had training (we had a trainer come out to us) we were told that this is the sort of behavior that is quite normal for canines. As I said, this is my understanding and I'd be happy to hear others opinions/ideas regarding it, but that is my interpretation as to what is happening above. *edited with extra info*

my breeder told me everything, and really stressed the facts. she also told me that *if it didn't work out* to call her immediately. Well, its worked out and you would have to kill me first to get Charlie off me. I can't walk him off lead, and he has his nose to the ground sometimes (big deal!) but he is the most beautiful, good natured, kind calm and loving dog - a beagle :-) We will be getting another one soon, fingers crossed xo * i know my comment isnt really relevent, i'm just a passionate beagle lover and think they should stay as they are :-)

I don't get it....they are BEAGLES!! Whats wrong with the drive to scent - they are SCENThounds...am I missing something?? Why would anyone want to change a Beagle??? Apparently their drive to scent is what stops them being the "perfect family pet" ... but that is getting off topic suppose guilty of streatching the off topic bit. met a guy at the vets today with a beagle x cavalier, beautiful dog i have to say. altough he looked like a straight beagle to me, he said he is a wonderful boy because although he has the look of the beagle he has none of the disobediance and scenting drive instead he has the cavaliers eager to please and train attitude. the perfect family dog. he said he was the pup featured on kerry ann's program when it was touting this cross as the perfect solution I love Beagles just how they are. AND I love Cavaliers just as they are.

I was told that the excrement from cruise liners was dumped there intermittently. I can imagine that it would be quite rank if that was the case.

My beagle Charlie went through an insane period of humping when he was about 4 months old. Everyone, including people, chairs and pillows were violated LOL. We used the ignore tactic and it worked a treat. He rarely humps now. *edited for relevence Jacqui

Hi Everyone, I have a question that have been building up for awhile. I have stated before that I am new to the dog world and don't have alot of knowledge about the way things work. We left Charlie (male desexed beagle 8 months old) at a kennel recently - we have used them once before and we were neutral about how it all went. Charlie seemed happy and calm after that stay so we had no reason to feel concerned, though we werent thrilled with some other aspects staff wise (just very fast, not interested in alot of detail, quite short on the phone). This time, once we picked him up, we were cuddling and playing on the floor at home - we found a bite mark on his groin. Its obvious to us that it is another dog bite, and we know that there was a group of beagles staying at the kennel during the time Charlie was there so it can be assumed that the play got a little rough. Its not a bad bite, it was scabbed over, and there was no redness or swelling, and Charlie doesnt seem bothered by it at all - its more us. His behaviour was quite normal and calm. The thing is no one at t he kennel mentioned it to us. Is this acceptable? Do these things happen and I just need to suck it up and accept that this happens sometimes? Or is it a little off? The dogs are meant to be supervised whilst playing.... Set me straight guys. Is this acceptable and I just need to keep learning how it all works? Thanks for all your time guys, you have all been invaluable in assisting me in expanding my knowledge. Jacqui
