AWESOME!!! I finally feel good about this!!! Hooray!! xo xo xo

Yesterday a pooch I cared about, and was adored and loved by friends of mine - his name was Spyro - he was a poodle - died. Possibly a snake bite. I want to thank Spyro for playing with my Charlie, and teaching about running with other dogs, being patient with him when you were over him being a puppy, and for loving your family so so much. They adore you Spyro, and you will be missed forever. I can only imagine the tears they must be shedding for you. Their hearts break at losing you old man. May you be there to meet Charlie - he will want to play with you - when his time one day comes..... Thank you Spyro...........the old man (poodle) from next door..... xo

I didnt think about the anaesthetic/sedation......kinda mean if its not necessary I guess - I really hadnt taken that into account. Its a tough one. Bowen, then Chiro, then x ray?
-
If it was really bothering me I would do the xray just to put my mind at ease. I cant stand not knowing, and if its something serious its worth the money spent - if its not id feel better Thanks Jacqui

Thanks SecretKei. My OH is also worried that one chicken wing is not enough for him for *breakfast* or *dinner* - anyone have any thoughts on that? I would have thought that being 10 kgs, 200 - 250gm of wing/neck/offal per day (split into 2 meals) would be ok............. And thank you SecretKei, I will add some liver and kidney to the rotation. thanks Jacqui

HI team, So I went and got a whole heap of meat/bones for charlie. He is a 9 month old desexed beagle. I got beef tail, lamb hearts, chicken wings, chicken necks and mince. I was going to feed something along the lines of: 3 chicken necks for breakfast, lamb heart for dinner. or 1 chicken wing for breakfast, and mince with vege mix for dinner. A tin for sardines for breakfast one morning a week, with necks or wings or tail or heart for dinner....... Im not putting in things like honey or oats, though sometimes i mix some oats through his mince. Sometimes he has some natural yogurt, or a throw a raw egg on but nothing religous, just kinda think about whats hes had that week and throw it in. Should I be more structured? When he has mince we mix some omega 3/flaxseed mix through it as well for his joints. also, the portions of tail are small, only about 100 grm - is this enough for a meal? Charlie is just over 10 kgs. Ive read all the info, I guess I want to thow this out there - I am terrified of having him miss out on something important. Thanks, Jacqui

Poodlefan knows more than me so listen to her not me!!! ill continue to discourgage Charlie, though, as i said, he doesnt do it very often at all.

My beagle (also scent hound) does that at the dog park (he is an only child ) . We always divert the behavior by removing him....I think personally that its a doggie scent houndy thing and dont worry about it, I just encourage him not to. As he has gotten older he doesnt do it so much. Charlie is 8.5 months old now. Scent hound + stinky poo = happy interested (gross!) puppy lol.

My Angelic Beagle, And The Terrible Black Cat
SeeGee replied to SeeGee's topic in General Dog Discussion
LOL cheers everyone. Im going to spray the cat with a bottle filled with water when ever it comes on the ppty. And Im not going to restrict charlie in his own yard. *sigh* going to train him more, and also play hardball when it comes to the cat being on my ppty. Thanks Guys, Jacqui -
Hi team, We have new neighbours. They seem fine, no worries there, keep to themselves like we do. They have a black kitty - looks lovely enough to me....not to charlie. He is not a barker as a rule, the occasional snort, you know, but when he sees this cat he goes off!!! What can I do? If the cats in our yard whilst we are out, there is not alot I can do - and I dont think its fair to keep charlie inside in case the cat comes into our yard! But when he sees the cat when it is on their ppty he barks, what can I do? The cats allowed to be on their ppty and, as above, I cant keep him inside! Any tips? Ideas? Anything? Grrrrrr - I dont want to get in trouble for a barking dog! Thanks, Jacqui

can't do this one, but Ill be at the next. grr.

LOL Huski, I want to meet your tribe at some stage, you cant give me training tips for Charlie. Daisy sounds a bit like a wonder beagle - even if she is evil

If you mean the feeling it gave me when i saw him tearing towards me...........I felt so much pride. i know its probably silly, but he is such an incredible dog, and to be his owner makes me proud. Proud, but at the same time so stupid cos I looked like i was speaking crap lol.

So Charlie has selective recall, especially when on a scent. Believe me, we are working on it. At the dog park today, I was mentioning to one of the other doggie mums that Charlie has trouble with recall, especially when we are at the dog park - too many things to sniff out, so he really keeps me on my toes when we are there so I can keep him in check. Well, when someone went to leave I automatically (usually fruitlessly) called *Charlie, come here boy, Charlie!*.....(we like to keep him away from the gate - see other posts as to why lol) and he came tearing at me, ears flapping in the wind, spittle hanging out of his mouth, jumping up onto my legs with his two front paws....you get the jist.... Well, the other doggie mummy looked at me, cracked up laughing, and said *oh yea, you got a real handful there don't you* ............. Makin a liar outta me, I don't know

SeeGee replied to New Age Outlaw's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I wonder if the rocklea markets have anything to offer? I will investigate and return with my findings! ~ Jacqui
