At his age he's allowed to have worn down teeth! Go Tex!!!!

Poor Baby, hugs from us... Don't beat yourself up over not noticing it earlier. I reckon you'd have to be a Psychic to pick that up. Thing that counts is that it is gone and he is on the road to recovery! michael

Like so many of you, I only saw Lee and the pups on Saturday, quite a shock... A huge loss, Lee was a lovely human being. Rest in peace Lee

Soft Tissue Sarcoma & Rspca Insurance
nillasdad replied to nillasdad's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Good news, Vanilla's soft tissue sarcoma was fully covered, we received the refund for it today! The girl is recovering nicely, healing up rather quickly from what was a rather large open wound (I opted out of a third operation where they wanted to do skin crafts to cover the wound). Saved a fortune by doing 90% of the bandaging ourself bar the check up appointments. So, good outcome all round, give her a couple of weeks and she'll be back to normal. PS: Erny, you met Vanilla at the workshop you did with Steve in Melbourne... -
Soft Tissue Sarcoma & Rspca Insurance

That's how I interpret it as well. Thanks Erny, suffice to say, she'll get everything she needs to recover completely. Luckily, she won't need radiation as they got it all out, but it's a huge open wound. -
Does anyone if these are covered with RSPCA insurance? The better half and I are having an argument on whether or not we're covered. Policy states it doesn't cover skin conditions. I don't think a sarcoma is a skin condition per se... Our girl Vanilla just had one of these removed (margins where clear so they managed to get it all) and is currently on the long road of recovery. thanks seagate

Wanted Someone To Take My Dane And Umm

If I lived any closer I'd do the ET with him... -
Never said he does, but it certainly won't hurt here whilst Kelpie_Pup is waiting for an appointment with a professional.

Fixing up leadership issues will help with the resource guarding...
-
...the resource guarding will fall back into place once leadership is re-established, which as you should know is easily done with his type leash walking...
-
I bet some Ceasar type leash walking exercise to establish pack leadership again is all that needed here...

Good on ya for trying! Having lost our GD to complications after her hip replacement, I'd do everything humanly possible to get out of doing another operation like that. That said however, to give Dexter the best chance of recovery I'd continue to go Dogs in Motion and build up his muscle mass as much as possible to aid in the recovery. A visit to a muscle therapist might help with that. I've also heard of acupuncture and massage therapy helping in some HD cases. The complications we encountered where a result of not having enough muscle mass on Lucy, something we where not told about by our so called specialist surgeon. All the best. seagate

Hip Dysplasia ~updated With New Pics~

Bit hard to tell anything from that photo, can you do another side on, maybe another one from above his rear straight on... In Melbourne, Kepala is a great place to take your dog swimming http://www.kepalak9countryclub.com.au/ Dogs in Motion is another place I can think of http://www.dogsinmotion.com.au/index.php Edit: You can still get the muscle mass build up with swimming whilst you're waiting for the Xray. -

Better to pinch babies with... Only joking... First time I've seen a dingo up close, awesome! Had a laugh at his attitude when he was in the crate with the Aussie. He took up 3/4 of the crate and just ignored the Aussie growling at him. (I apologise for not knowing their names!) -

Might have something to do with the impressive session he did with Steve and you with the funny little jumpy dog. That was good work from you and your boy. -
