LOL But you won't be killing a dog from a P.E.T.A. shelter because they've already killed them all?

Does anyone know if K9 Antics will be there on Wednesday? In dire need of some product! -
Aww congrats to everyone on their babies... they are all adorable! I had the first show with my little baby Lowchen today! Looking forward to our second (and her final in Baby Puppy) on Wednesday... I will be showing Paceaway Parti Chic... I'm very excited, she is cute as a button. I don't have any good photos of her at the moment though

Nothing to see here.... *twiddles thumbs* ..... apart from a huge handful of coat that came out when I brushed her today. Back in another week...
-
I apologise, I misspoke. Obviously getting myself confused.
-
Yeah it is... more so when you're only just starting out. She's back at the vet on Friday and he'll probably progesterone test then.. hopefully her levels have gone up a bit by then!

Thanks Alyosha so do I!

Hitting The Ring For The First Time

Awwwww how adorable is that!!! Oooh yay... I'll be there both days... I has a secret which shall be unveiled on the Saturday :D We'll be inside though... so we miss out on watching everyone else. -
Well hopefully we get to see your new little girl in person :D

Lola's progesterone tests have been so low that the vet said it's not even worth doing another one just yet which is why he did the smear, he also looked at the colour of her vagina and said it was too early to be worthwhile. He did say that the progesterone test is the best thing to do and he relies on those... the smear is just to determine when to prog test.
-
Well the good news is that we haven't missed her season *yay* It seems that she is just very very early in her season... she is booked in to go for another cervical smear on Friday as the doc said that it's not worth doing another prog test just yet. Depending on the outcome of her next cervical smear she will have another prog test done to see how she's tracking. At least I know I haven't missed it.. that is keeping me happy!

Not long to wait now! Hopefully I'll have a better idea of what is happening in a couple of hours!

Yeah I think she's going to be painful particularly given that I don't have any entire males living with us to give an indication that she's ready to go. She had a jittery jaw this morning again and I inspected her, no blood but everything looked more wet than usual, could just be her licking but I didn't think so. All four of her litter sisters have now had litters, all with males around 24/7. I wonder if the stud dog owner wants a new dog for a while?

I know of two people who have recently had this done on their bitches BOTH were wrong! Cells may show one thing, doesn't mean they are right. They were using the cells in conjunction with progesterone. But it's all over the place. They were doing the same. Progesterone is reliable, cells are not 100% - even if done in conjunction. Ahhh fair enough. Will be interesting to see what dr watts says.

I'm not sure.. it is a possibility... we have had a couple of careful visits from an entire male to gauge interest with no real result so far. But the combination of cervical cells and dropping progesterone levels are just really confusing.. there is obviously something going on.. what it is I have no idea. bugger.

Bugger That sucks. I'm finding it more frustrating because it's been 10 months since her last season, so if she is coming in and I miss it we're going to be in for another looooong wait.

I'm mostly just having a vent... we have an appointment with a repro specialist on Tuesday to try to get to the bottom of it. Lola had a little bit of swelling around the 28th of December, but nothing else discernible. This would be her third season with me and I have not seen any discharge from her but have previously seen some behavioural signs. This time there was still nothing, not even behavioural after two weeks and I got her prog tested and cervical smear... the smear indicated that she was either coming into or going out of season and her prog test was 0.69 and they asked me to come back in a few days (Friday) and the result was 0.28! But on the day she got the reduced reading she also showed some of the behaviours she normal has, a jittery jaw and playing up with the Afghans (both desexed before anyone asks ) I just have no idea what's going on with this girl... and being a first timer it's bloody frustrating! /vent.

She is adorable! Good luck with her Is she going to come to the Melbourne Royal this year?!?!
-
And it is very useful for that purpose... I certainly used it when trying to come up for ideas for my prefix.
-
Hahahaha ditto! And the 2nd of Jan show would've been the anniversary of Lola and I stepping into the show ring... oh well... lol!
-
I must say, I really liked this set up.. it is one of the things I like about indoor shows is that you are call together and can have a chat... outdoor shows tend to be isolating in that everyone is in their own little personal space. Our little tent city was great... even if I was only really there for the first day of it.

Um Isnt Showing A Desexed Bitch Wrong?
Wyntervale replied to Missymoo's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've had someone argue with a steward that I shouldn't be allowed in the ring because I had entered my bitch as a dog by accident. I had already sorted it with the show sec and notified the steward so all was good. But it turned out that it was an error with my entries (two to a page, one had the wrong radio button ticked on one of them). So at least finding out at this show gave me the opportunity to rectify it for future entries. I don't think there is anything wrong with honest mistakes as long as you own up to them and sort it out. As for showing a desexed bitch... I'm not sure I know enough to have a firm opinion on that yet... I think I'd like to know the whys and the hows first. -
Oooh I can't wait for 2011! I'll have some exciting news, but I have to wait a while... lest I jinx myself!
