  1. Yes she is cavmad. My mum now has Cooper her Maltese and Tilly the CKCS... They are getting along very well too.
  2. oh PP do you mean the link didnt work? The pic shows what her eyes look like, but not to that degree
  3. PP my vet is closed today, but we are getting her to the vet sooner rather than later because of the dry eye anyway so we will book her in and get him to do a thorough check up over her while we are there.
  4. http://www.darwinvets.com/images/topical/kcs/kcs%20eye.jpg not PK from wat I can see, however she does have small amounts of the above look in her eyes. Mum was so worried about her eyes on the way home she wouldnt let us wind the windows down in case the air dried them out more,so we resorted to air con..so mum covered her eyes with a cloth hahaha
  5. wellllllllllllll can a dog get any darn cuter...!! We picked up Matilda aka Tilly today. She was being rehomed due to the famalies daughter having a disability. the daughter had a hard time seeing Tilly. Tilly was offered as an assistance dog but because of the dry eye she didnt meet the requirements. She is currently on eye drops that the vet suggested and are bought from the chemist. The family were wonderful, and even went and bought us some drops to take home.
  6. Hi everyone.. Today I am off to pick up a CKCS for my mum who has a condition reffered to as dry eye. The person we are getting her from has suggested to use chemist bought eye drops. I would REALLY love any information or details of your experience with the condition. This dog is an undesexed female.. I want to desex her asap obviously. Now when we do foster dogs,we usually would do this sooner rather than later. However, since she is staying,is it better to let her settle in first before whipping her up to the vet? She is going to live with my mum who has a desexed male so theres no chance of pregnancy.. Doing it sooner is no issue to us,just as i said, wonder if we should let her settle first, then take her to the vet. Meet Tilly:
  7. sorry,i wasnt referring to the doort thing being an issue for you,i was using it as an example. I remember walking some dogs at a shelter who i thought were lovely to walk only to hear others say what a horror they were. As someone else suggested, perhaps you watch how your partner interacts with your dog and see where the differences are
  8. its amazing to see how dogs react differently to different people. Even here in my home,i can come and go with ease out of my font door. My SIL on the other hand cant manage even that task. She tries talking to the dogs the rambles on about 100000 things at once to them then they get sooo worked up she starts freaking out and gets frustrated. I walk in and out,as I approach the door, yell "BACK" and they will all sit and wait no problem. You have to TELL the dog what to do,not ask it. I can stop Indie from running in the back door even at zoomie time, and she goes CRAZY with Zoomies lol,but all I have to do is raise my finger and she knows that means to stop. I guess what Im trying to say,i that sometimes people are too "nice",and forgiving. I NEVER use physical punishments on my dog. I say you go back to basics wih the triangle of temptation, and at any given oppotunity, assert your dominance! THEN speak to a behavourist
  9. I had something similar happen although it was in a rental property. There was a rodent problem from the previous occupants. The real estate sent someone out to "pest control" the house this meant all "vermin" roaches, rats etc .. I spoke to the pest control officer and let him know that my dogs are kept both inside and out and that he would have to ensure that NO baits were left on low levels. I had to leave the house so I wasnt able to watch where he put them, but he assured me all was OK. Needless to say,the next day I see my two dogs chowing down on a rat bait. He had left a bait sitting behind my toilet..easily acessable to my dogs and small children. When I called him to let him know,he said "Oh I didnt think they could get it there".. I then went around the house to check where else he had left them, they were scattered all through the bottom shelves under my sink etc... So frustrating.. poor dogs having those shots and watching them vomit etc..they both survived.. I never followed up on it,I really should have,it may have made him think twice before being so reckless in another house. ETA wishing ur dogs a very speedy recovery!

everyone has given you great advice.. Also to keep on the good side with the neighbour try popping in to see them and ask them if things are improving. Let them know all the new things you are trying. Often people tend to think us doggy owners are negligent when we really are trying our best. I would even go as far as to thank them for bringing it to your attention. I actually ask my neighbours regularly if my dogs have been giving them any concerns and let them know the door is open for complaints. I would rather them feel that I am open and easy to approach than them feel guilty and not confront me and instead call the council.
  11. Thanks again everyone.. my vet did have a look himself at the findings but wasnt sharing the info. I hope im being paranoid, but i have a feeling he wasnt saying much cause he inwardly knows the answers. He has seen my old staffy with many lumps and bumps and has pretty much given me the all clear on the spot. We occasionaly do the FNA just to be safe but pretty much its only a precaution. This time it was very different his face looked very concerned and he kinda did the test and spoke briefly, although I harrassed him for answers he didnt really say much other than lets talk about this tomorrow after we get the tests results . I would prefer to have the lump removed regardless, its right where her collar sits I worry it will annoy her. This is on the $350 range ,and last nights efforts cost me $130 already. Lucky for me my vet lets me pay him off!!
  12. thankyou...we need all the luck we can get. I will let you all know as soon as i know something!
  13. I ended up getting Indie to the vet tonight... NOT looking good. When your vets face looks as horrified as mine must have, its never a good indicator. He said he has never seen a tumor in a dog so young but it definately looks like thats what it is. We did do a fine needle test and the results will be back tomorrow afternoon.
  14. we have an appointment for tomorrow. I have a paranoia of cancers as well after having to PTS my baby Jake last year. I guess the location of Indies lump is what kinda freaking me out!
  15. nope no vet visits recently. my old staffy gets all these lumps n bumps so im sure its nothing as it feels and looks very similar. The only difference is the place and the shape. Sages lumps seem to be "sac like" where as this one on Indie, really looks like she has a golf ball stuck on her neck.
  16. sorry bout the spelling lol had the dogs all over me at the time..
  17. I went to walk Indie tonight, and wonder how i would have missed is. My daughter walked her for me the day before and didnt see it either. But she has a lump the size of a golf ball on her neck. I have given it a good feel and it seels to be moveable and hopefully nothin sserious. Has anyone hd any experience with this? Of course we will be at the vet tomorrow, but just wondered if anyone has had this? I have Sage who has had many lumps removed but none in such a scary place.
  18. i had a family function tonight and showed them his picture..there were sounds of laughter and disgust all at once,..poor fat man lol. I have never had a fat dog before..i guess slow walks ,maybe 15 mins tops wild be a good start?...NFI.. anyone with any ideas please let me know!
  19. yea I kinda thought that...looks like lotsa walks and minimal food will get him back on track!! I will pop him into the vet just to be sure. I wouldnt want to rehome him without checking first
  20. wonder if this is why he was dumped?
  21. when i feel the area it doesnt appear to be a mass...but im no vet !!
